Anyone heard anything about the Megan O'Neill gig upstairs in Whelans this Friday??
All up in the air it seems, shambles for anyone involved in a potential gig this weekend.
Anyone know about the Wedding Present in the Button Factory this Saturday 22nd Oct?
Arts minister asking for another 24 hours to sort guidelines for live music industry. Farcical at this stage. https://twitter.com/hughescraig90/status/1450834169047695361?t=zqhJ2KySsNQq-6j5chKI5A&s=19
Yep but let's hope an agreement is reached
**** all wrong with ensuring Vaccine certs for entry. Using the 3Arena as an example pre covid the bars were always run decently, usuall someone at the front directing people into lines. The merch areas now that could get chaotic
No issue with certs and they're happening anyway but lot of uncertainty about whether standing gigs happening in just over 48 hours can go ahead.
Absolutely.
They should have decided how far in advance the businesses need to know what guidelines would be introduced (say 2 weeks).
Then, at that time, use the best data they have to make a determination.
This nonsense of "we thought we would have been able to uplift all restrictions at this time" was wishful thinking on their part, which has lead to this inaction and confusion and is **** all use to all those now completely left in the lurch.
Clowns.
Another rescheduled gig. https://twitter.com/foggynotions/status/1450853912744022024?t=eBzWr1VZ2NndgqIvQOLkUQ&s=19
Yep nobody in there right mind can't defend the government on this mess
Comedy writers couldn't even write that **** up
If this isnt a runner, all of the gigs until March or April are binned. Including all the ones rescheduled until February etc. A shambles.
Even more confused about that tweet now
So all seated gigs might not able to go ahead?
King Kong company have postponed their Belfast show to march and sligo show to next Oct. They are waiting to see what the story is with the Cork show but probably cancelled or postponed.
Who said that?
I'm hopeful that they will sort a fix but even if they don't hopefully by Spring it's a different situation
Hopefully but having to wait til Spring for big gigs would be a killer
A ****ing ridiculous situation
From RTE tonight
'Allowing people to stand at live events is being considered but it could involve some limit on capacity.
A spokesperson for Minister for Arts Catherine Martin said tonight that talks today with industry representatives were constructive and guidelines will be published tomorrow'
Let's see what the full story is, can't say it sounds overly positive
No indication of capacity limits or the actual logistics, but leaks seem to imply standing gigs back on.
Meeting was meant to be at 5 but pushed back. Hopefully will be white smoke tonight. https://twitter.com/newschambers/status/1451207300136505346?t=NjCj_MTw_BXWCQk-S2Xp_w&s=19
Ffs
I hope they hop off one another, farce
Being devil's advocate here, I'm glad they're working to a solution here. The delay isn't ideal in any stretch but in another time, they could have just said no and kept it all shut given the very short timeline from when the advice was given and rising numbers.
Again, not ideal, but at least things are set to open.
Maybe I'm a bit slow but what does the last bit mean exactly? https://twitter.com/newschambers/status/1451234160903954432?t=CqQC3dqTP-o7RwlFKeP5IA&s=19
Worded a bit better here actually https://twitter.com/gavreilly/status/1451234842281132035?t=G_NY9-hkL0g7hIf3_f4bOg&s=19
I wonder what that means for the likes of the 3Arena.
Say wouldn't be able to have gigs there. Unless they convert standing standing seating like 90s gig but probably not worth they're while fot most gigs.
It's pretty much the only venue effected, and there doesn't seem to be a sold out gig there till April, it's a pain but not a disaster.
It does allow Irish acts to start making a living again, so yeah it's probably more positive than negative.
That's a big relief. That's everywhere in Dublin up to and including Vicar Street I think?
Yeah, Olympia, academy, vicar st, Whelans all safe to run shows again.
Anyone know what the standing capacity of 3Arena is (with seats in place, but rows 1 to 20 removed)?
It's 9000 fully seated and 13000 full with standing so there's around 4000 standing spots in that bottom area (with the flat seating and rows 1-20 gone).
