RTE's new 8 episode gangland drama with an all star cast.
AMC start date is September 9th I can't see a start date for RTE just a coming soon.
The ceremony bit was fairly out of left field. I did think that the wobbly filming of the glass box overhang was pretty cool.
I've stuck with it despite the (failed) attempts at building tension and drama through the overuse of prolonged silence. Its grand, potentially an easier watch 2-3 episodes at a time rather than weekly.
She was abit too calm though.
As a mother if guards arrived unexpectedly she'd be thinking there was a hit on Anthony.
After that a second hit on Mickey/Anna.
You wouldn't be just standing there you'd be running out the hall door to find out why they were there, unless you knew it was happening.
She had time enough to print off a "closed until further notice" notice, so she knew they were coming
She knew as soon as they arrested Eric they'd go for the garage though.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
were we told somewhere else that Eamon’s mother died whilst saving him from drowning?
Or is it only implied in the hallucination?
It's only implied as it was acted out by Amanda, so in theory it could have been a sister/aunt too. "Amanda" was portraying two women, one was face down in the pool and other was whispering to him that she (whoever it was who is face down in the pool) was glad he was alive.
Whoever it was was wearing the cross necklace he wears now.
It's the Gardai. Not a threat and going to Eric's house. It isn't Eamonn Cunningham's gang in force.
Everybody knew they were coming. Everybody knew the car showroom was next.
Unless they were riveted to episode six of Kin, like most here.
Well when there's a bounty on your family and you see blue flashing lights I would have thought you're first instinct is someone has been shot and you'd run to the hall door. She doesn't move though, even before they got out of their cars and it was clear that they were heading for Eric.
I think she was way too calm.
If her other son had been injured or killed they wouldn't be screeching up the road at speed with the blue lights flashing to tell her though, it was obvious they were after someone rather than arriving with news.
Hardly standing calmly looking out !
Had one of her neighbours been shot she'd have heard the kerfuffle, if not the actual shots.
If the Gardai were coming to inform the family of a shooting they'd have been quieter.
She may have called them but why would she, the arrest was happening anyway as was the showroom closure. As a character development it would go against every move she's made thus far. She's not dumb.
Or armed response! Saw a few of the ASU going in with MP7s
I assumed Amanda did grass up Viking Eric
I thought that once Viking didn't turn himself in as discussed then the cab cop had said she was comming back to go through the books as they are clearly laundering the cash through the business.
So when they didn't let Viking give a statement then he was later lifted and then then they came back after as promised.
Of she had given up Viking then they wouldn't have come for the business.
I could be wrong tho as it would be obvious she had grassed if they didn't come for the books. I don't care I just like it as mindless fluff with fun spot the filming location and who was that actor before games.
The did she did she not call the guards has generated a lot of discussion. I don’t think she did, as she simply didn’t need to and why would she take that risk for small payoff. Up until the point where eamon stopped her car and threatened her kid she has been completely loyal to the family. It was even before that she found out the Viking triggered the events that led to her son getting killed and she decided then that she will take him out. She still will, but this time his sheer stupidity ensured she didn’t need to make a move. She will do more to him that just put him away for 5 years.
Is discussing the preview from RTE a spoiler?
I thought the start of last weeks episode was weak. Amanda asks was there ever a rat and Jimmy loses the rag altogether saying there's no rat. If that was me, I'd be curious to know why she asked. I'd immediately think of Viking who already shown he'd lie to the family (about the shooting).
Then Jimmy goes mad at Amanda saying she doesn't run the family, Frank does, and the only thing she does is run the dealership, despite Jimmy running to Frank when Amanda said it was too dangerous for him to go to Belgium and it was also Amanda's idea to steal Eamons gear.
Yes id say it is ....................
asked the question, and then discussed it anyway .... 🙄
i didnt read on after the first line ...
apologies
Someone was asking earlier in the thread (cant find the post) who plays Bren. Nothing on IMDB yet but the Sun have a reasonably spoiler free article on the upcoming episode 7 and have reported the actor is Francis Magee
The poster didn't discuss the preview, only asked the question.
Edit - already discussed by later posts I'd not yet seen. Apologies.
Yeah episode 7 was discussed quite early in the thread.
I disagree. I am not familiar with most of his previous work, apart from Love Hate where he was a bit over the top. In this, I think he is the pick of the cast. It is a nuanced portrayal of what is an enigmatic character. Seemingly weak, vulnerable and conflicted but also scheming, ambitious and ruthless enough to rat out his own son. His performance in the role seems convincing to me, far more than the majority of the other actors, including Hinds.
Is it just me that doesn't really mind gillen here at all? I mean even I thought he was a terrible choice for the show at first, he just never seemed to fit the gangster role well for me. But here, I actually think he fits the role well. A posh gangster that no one takes seriously and is not intimidating at all? why not? I still prefer cox and hinds but I think hes just right behind them in terms of performance.
So Kem gave up Fudge, and now Dotser has given up the smokes. Maybe it is bleedin Lent!!!!
Was it possible to make out if it was the same young assassin who shot Dotser mistaken fir Frank??
I don't know how the Kinsellas made it anywhere near the level they seem to be at in the drugs trade. They collectively seem really stupid.
They steel €50,000,000 worth of drugs, from the countries biggest trafficker and then expect that if they just give it back to him, that it will quash the beef.
I'm enjoying this for what it is.
I feel Cox is a bit wasted after seeing him in three seasons of daredevil.
Hinds is particularly menacing.
The lad playing Viking though, my god, what clichéd rubbish he comes out with.
Don't know who it was but it definitely wasn't Glen (the ginger lad)
