First of all, if anyone is reading this please do consider clicking on the original post link above and see what I was actually saying in context and not just TimeLadsPlease's untrue response to one sentence.
See attached image and notice how TimeLadsPlease doesn't just concur with Deeec, but then actually assumes Deeec's own phrasing and uses it himself months later in his misfired response to me.
The significance of this will likely be completely lost on TimeLadsPlease and possibly Deeec also, who may criticise me and talk about how it proves nothing - oh, don't worry guys, I am not suggesting either of you killed Sophie!
But I post it here for the many of us who are reading more than writing, if writing at all. To those who aren't just interested in the case, but in how this thread exposes the poor reasoning of the common mind. Frankly, I think it supports the case I was making in my original post...
What - I dont understand your post. Can you explain?
My friend, I think you need to see a doctor.
Ian has a new squeeze:
https://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/ian-bailey-flattered-strikes-up-24569449
"Amanda Large, who once made headlines for her unusual marriage to a 300 year old Haitian pirate, speaks to Bailey 'almost every day' and admits she's 'interested' in him."
These are the sort of people you can meet in this area of Ireland. Maybe they can howl at the moon together or something like that.....
This would then imply that the killer at least knew something about the area. This would also suggest either the Guard or Bailey himself, these are the two suspects who probably knew the most about the area, apart from Alfie and Shirley..... A contract killer may not have had this information that easily or would have to have investigated these things, asked questions, that is if it wasn't with his instructions. And foreigners or strangers asking questions are always suspicious, they stand out, stick into other's memory, etc....
That's really old news, and they were never together.
He's with someone else according to today's papers.
you're right - I posted the wrong link:
https://www.thesun.ie/news/7766488/sophie-murder-suspect-ian-bailey-new-relationship-home/
Yes that's it.
You believe Moonunit and I are the one person and we are also the person who wrote MURDER AT ROARING WATER - and all three / one of us need medical help?
Noted!
🤣 😂 😄
I have a suspicion you may be over analysing some comments here.
Just a tad.
This thread took an odd turn.
Anyone interested in actually investigating this case?
Id like to know if the DNA of a mystery male on Sophies boot which was discovered by the French forensics will ever be attempted to be matched?
We know it doesn't match IB. that's all they cared about in their investigations.
This could be the key to finding the murderer.
Was it that it couldn't be matched to anyone because it was degraded?
No, it's because they didn't try.
As far as I'm aware, it's just sitting there in the French file.
Again, why? Fairly straightforward police procedure to look at an unidentified males DNA at the scene of one of the most high profile/horrific crimes in modern Irish history. Lends more credence to the garda coverup theory. Nothing to lose by testing it against potential suspects in the locality or even the entire area. Anyone not willing to give it, suspicion should arise. Unless the heads of the investigation didnt want that & I wonder why?? Its another one of the key pieces of evidence not followed up on or destroyed of which there are many.
I'm sure there'll be some along shortly to say it wasn't relevant & the gards were just a bit dopey calling everyone else conspiracy theorists. Jesus wept.
Even to rule out people Jim, you'd think they'd be keen to. The priest, pathologist, Gardai who were at the scene, local doctor, lab workers etc.
I think part of the issue is that there's no DNA database as far as I'm aware here, and there certainly wasn't in 1996. So it would involve a great deal of work but surely that's priority?
Wasn't the golden state killer caught this way?
That's a good question. I wonder what the procedure is for such new testing and who decides when it's worth rechecking a sample.
As far as I recall there are also small circular blood stains on Sophie's clothing that may be from the killer.
Sadly, as with most things on a beurocratic level, I expect it's a case of who is putting the pressure on who. I'm not sure the Gardai, the media, and the Irish government under pressure from the French government would take a chance on seeing a headline proclaiming:
"New DNA Test Proves Ian Bailey is Innocent!"
Imagine the amount of compensation he could sue for.
I'm not sure it's a whole DNA genome either, I heard its an STR sequence.
It should still be possible to find genetic matches however.
You'd be surprised how much was re-tested over the years.
This is why I'm certain that the gate was deliberately destroyed. It should have been kept for further testing like other evidence. There were many smears of blood on it, and much of it could not be grouped in the initial, basic testing.
Were Ian Bailey, Jules Thomas and their family to (deservedly in my opinion) receive compensation of 5 to 10 million,it would be a drop in the ocean as far as the state is concerned. I don't think they'll ever be given grounds to seek it with a headline revelation like you've suggested.
Given the kind of news we're getting about the Garda these days I would expect if there were to be an apology of sorts, it would be with something like; "Garda at centre of Bailey case was cocaine user".
Its not about the compensation though, the government and the gards themselves know confidence in the gards is evaporating. It would cost alot more money to set up an organisation that's properly able to investigate gards like in alot of modern western democracies than to pay Bailey compensation. GSOC are useless & have little to no power, thats not a bad thing as far as most government policitians are concerned. They dont want any more scandals.
Also, the second last garda commissioner to resign in recent times nearly cost our Taoiseach his job. This is not about money, its about politics, power. Garda corruption is politically very hot & dangerous for governments.
No doubt also, senior gards close to the government have a lot of information on government policitians, you think these parasites are going to risk their careers at the thought of doing something noble such as setting up a proper policing authority, I dont think so.
I think part of the issue is that there's no DNA database as far as I'm aware here
I wonder was that sample uploaded here; Although the database was only launched in 2015,
DNA database now holds 67,342 samples
A total of 67,342 DNA samples have been uploaded to the national DNA database since its launch in November 2015.
The Department of Justice has confirmed the figure to the Sunday Independent that, over the same period, 25,304 profiles were removed and destroyed.
There are now 42,038 samples on the database, of which 38,990 are of criminal suspects.
The Criminal Justice (Forensic Evidence and DNA Database System) Act 2014 set out the parameters for the database, and stated that any prisoner serving a sentence of five years or more is required by law to provide a sample.
Up to 450 jailed sex offenders are also compelled to provide a DNA sample, along with a further 1,500 listed on the sex offenders’ register.
In addition, 2,000 rapists and paedophiles are obliged to submit DNA for indefinite storage.
489 missing samples
Meanwhile, late last year, it emerged that almost 4,500 DNA samples had been lost from the database.
A probe, led by assistant commissioner John O’Driscoll, identified all but 489 missing samples.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris admitted to the Policing Authority that there were 234 individuals that the force did not hold samples on, which should have been included in the database.
Audit ordered
Appearing before the Policing Authority last November, following an audit ordered last September, Mr Harris was asked if prosecutions could be affected.
He answered that there was a risk that those missing from the files could have engaged in crimes for which there was an unidentified DNA sample within the forensic science laboratories. However, he said that this was a small risk, given that DNA is very rarely used as the sole means of detection.
Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll said that analyses had identified 34 cases where a sample had been missing and a person had not been prosecuted.
“We’re going into those cases to see what the significance of the DNA sample was in the individual case,” the assistant commissioner said.

Good info, thanks.
I very much doubt that the killers DNA is in a database. If, for example the deceased Garda from bantry was the killer, he died in 2001 and would certainly not be in any database. His children might tho.
I'm not sure with STR profiling what can be done and if it can even identify relatives.
However, this should be investigated to every extent possible.
Does Drew Harris know about this DNA sample? It's not in the Garda files apparently, it's in the French ones.
They could match this DNA sample from Sophie's boot against one of the living relatives if this often mentioned Guard from Bantry. It's worth a try, I'd say. That is, if that DNA sample still exists.
They'd have to be actually investigating him first.
That won't happen unless Drew Harris decides to pursue the case alongside the endless garda corruption that went with it.
I'm pretty sure IB has the French files however, so he could take it upon himself.
Isn't the case in Ireland still an open case?
Apparently they shouldn't be investigated for any corruption as it's very stressful for them.....
Oh the poor little snowflakes!!
The heart bleeds.
It's open as in... Bailey is the suspect but unless the invent more "evidence" they can't charge him here. They have never pursued other lines of enquiry.
It's left hanging in limbo like various other irish issues, in the hope it quietly goes away.
It does look like Harris is the right man for the job.
Amazing how much corruption he's gotten to the bottom of in such a short time. It's obvious that people will take advantage of power when there is no recourse. Just look at the Catholic church, Scouts, Hollywood et al. It would be stranger still if members of AGS didn't take advantage of their power. TBH I'm sure everyone can directly relate to a member of AGS they know he did or still does take advantage of that power. It's just about making sure there is no criminal intent.
Brave girl !!!
The Garda Siochana is not endemically corrupt. You always expect to find a few bad apples in any state institution. Have any of these outed coppers been charged with aiding and abetting serious criminal activity? Fixing a few speeding fines or quashing penalty points, yes. The retired superintendent accused in relation to the most publicised of these incidents will not ,it now transpires, face any charges.
