For anyone who might be interested in learning a bit about IT Support, UX Design, Project Management, or Data Analytics, Google have sponsored some free courses through Coursera. CDETB is running the programme, and you can apply directly through their website

Thanks for adding this, think I'll sign up this weekend. Have you taken any yourself?
Be careful, the time line here is very tight, most suited for full time consumption than part time:
Are these courses worth doing?
I have no background in the field at all but it is something I’m interested in and could look to move to in the future.
I’m thinking the IT support or Data Analytics would suit me best.
Yes, I am doing the Data Analytics one.
Just note that if you sign up at the weekend you won't get the invite till Monday
My understanding is that once you have started and are active then the license will allow you to complete it even after the 15th
Received the invite email this morning, but looks like all of the free places have been taken now.
Thanks for posting OP
Same here, seems a bit pointless to give an invite only to then tell you that it's full. Hopefully there's another run of this in future.
Signed up for the IT cert, looks well put together
I got no email! What address was it from?
no-reply@t.mail.coursera.org
Oh I was invited to join but it went to spam, however it was for the one course I did not apply for and just would not be my skillset at all, IT Support.
Utter nonsense. I assume the learning team they suggest contacting is CDETB?
Which course was full?. I was thinking about doing the PM one as well
How good are the courses by Google, that you can a job after doing them
I signed up for the project management one but when I clicked on the invite it said it was full.
I tried to accept the invite to join again this morning...and it worked!
I'm doing the data analytics one, it seems OK but a lot of the information I already knew (I work a lot in excel and reporting on the data as it is). If you have no experience in that at all, it's probably going to be more beneficial but I'm not sure it's strong enough to get a job after it. That said it's definitely a step in the right direction if you can show a genuine interest in the field by doing something like this to try and get started.
I have been in touch with administration - there was a license issue which is why people were getting a message that it was full. This has now been rectified so you should be able to enrol now.
was just coming on to say the same happened me
Tried signing up a while ago and didn't get any email
Sometimes takes a bit of time - I'd say it will come through soon enough
What section are you on? These courses are like art attack, the first unit is so easy then the rest of the units is like doing brain surgery on a rocket.
Just got the email 😂
Did other people get the course that they applied for or are they randomly allotted depending on what's free?
Doesn't seem to matter what you apply for. Once you've been invited in you seem to be able to enroll in any of the 4.
I tried the quizzes last night to see what detail would be in there (it seems you can try 3 times per 24 hours) and I passed all the weekly challenge quizzes. That said I'm still going to go through the content before I take on the final part of it as I'm sure there's some good detail in there still. I did computer system management in college so I was familiar with SQL and I use excel / Power BI regularly so that side of things wasn't anything massively new.
Still saying full on my original invite. Have enrolled again and waiting to see if I get another invite link.
What address did you contact the admin on? It seems to be full again.
Tried it there again and got to join the Project Management course successfully.
"In order to access graded quizzes and obtain your Google Certificate you will need to pay the Course Certificate fee"
Anyone know what the fee is, can't seem to spot it on the Coursera page.
