Yeah deposit paid last week in April.
January sounds about right, at least you'll have a 221 reg early in the year! but sounds like a far more realistic delivery time that I got.
Did you order the car last week of April?
I had ordered first week on August. The dealer said delivery will be in December or January.
Could use a portable router, they are pretty small, and a gomo sim, though phone hotspot is better and a cheaper alternative just a pain on an iphone because the hotspot automatically disables so every time you get in the car you have to activate it and on an iphone it should be easier but it's impossible to keep the hotspot active once the device disconnects.
This one runs on battery either or you can get one to plug in to usb, this does both.

It took from last week of April to around late June or early July, I'd have to go way back in this thread to find out exactly, delivery date was originally mid July ended up being Tuesday! So I'd say expect a 6 month wait due to parts shortage, though others ordered after me got theirs weeks earlier.
Yes, works for me, the internet radio, this is the built in internet radio app, Spotify works too, tethered to the phone, all a big battery drain of course but seems to do fine charging wirelessly but I would worry about the heat for the battery long term, all that heat means inefficiency.
God bless AM radio, no subscription or data needed!
85 Euro's for shockingly low, 25 GB for a whole year is disgraceful and it should be illegal that People can not choose a different provider!
@[Deleted User] How long did it take from the production week for the VIN to show up on myVolkswagen?
Also how long did it take after that to be shipped out?
The dealer said the production week for my car is wk45, trying here to guess timelines..
MVNOs like GoMo or 48months are generous on their data plans. Could be ideal for a car hotspot 😊
What I’m saying is the reverse. Connect your car through your phone.
Cubic telecom charges crazy money for little data allowances.
They don’t offer an auto renew afaik. It’s all a bit weird though - I’ve used 1.5Gb out of a 5Gb/3-month plan in just 15 days. The dashboard for my account shows the majority of that was late in the evenings when the car is parked up and not in use, which doesn’t make any sense to me! Definitely won’t be renewing.
That's great to hear - I'm still waiting (for another few months) for mine to arrive. Does this mean that you can share the data from your phone and the apps on the infotainment unit will have an internet connection (without having to use the cubic telecom plans) and not just using the CarPlay / Android Auto apps on the unit, right?
You would want to watch out for a auto renew. You could be caught out with another 3 month plan. I could be wrong but that's the way companies usually work hoping you forget to turn it off.
With the data plan you can set up a hotspot and connect up to eight mobile devices. The plans are pretty pricey and expire within a time limit (depending on plan). I currently have the 3-month plan but am struggling to find a use for it. My iPhone gives me everything I need via CarPlay.
Can you connect to your phone via a hotspot?
Yep, can connect to home wifi tried last night. Can tether to phone too which I think makes more sense.
Didnt know this. Is it possible to connect to your home wifi or tether from your mobile phone?
You have to pay for that. Its done via a cubic telecom account.

So, you have 2 internet feeds really... one for VW to send OTA update which VW pay for and the other for things like internet radio which you pay for!
Sat Nav works without a data plan.
Does the sat nav etc need a data plan? It has regular FM/DAB?
You've to buy a data plan.
I thought the id3 had internet connectivity, the internet radio doesn't work ?,
The email from vw about 2.3 software comes in in promotions section of gmail account. Not the normal inbox. Almost missed mine.
Sometimes the travel assist seems to want to follow the curve of line at exit. Maybe that’s what happened
i had exact same experience this morning with a sudden stop too.
So just to warn you, the Travel Assist won't take exits for you, you still have to manage that yourself 😉
The satnav is linked to traffic updates and should warn you about traffic ahead and suggest different routes.
If you open the satnav, you can see the slider on the right to your destination, it'll highlight traffic jams in red or amber
It did a similar thing to me once, was heading round the M50 to the N7 exit. The satnav told me to get off at N2 exit and head through Blanch and Lucan and eventually join onto the N7
I decided to trust is and I'm glad I did as there was a crash on the M50 and the tailback was from the N4 all the way back to the N2. I saw the tail end of it just as I was exiting the motorway. I wouldn't say it's bulletproof as I've seen traffic jams on the satnav when I'm driving on a clear road, but it can be helpful
I'va also found the same thing about the Travel Assist when there's a sudden stop ahead, I had to take over braking. I guess that's part of the problem of these assistance systems, you still have to watch out for them. I think it probably would have stopped in time, but I didn't want to take the risk with the shiny new EV 😁
There is a setting for traffic information to come into the car. I forget where I saw it now. Were you using the in car sat nav?
Crash on N7 this morning and Travel assist was absolutely fantastic to have.
2 Glitches, 1st was it wanted to take me off at Kilcullen ramp on the M9, now the funny thing is if I had let the car take me that way I wouldn't have got stuck in Traffic as I could have taken a known back road, hmmmm, maybe the car is more aware than I think ? lol
2nd glitch was rather more serious I'm afraid, once the traffic picked up again the car in front jammed on the brakes and I had to take over and brake hard, it did give me a warning but I intervened before as I felt it wasn't going to brake so need to be mindful and I am but isn't the car supposed to have anti collision ? lol.
Overall though, I am extremely impressed with the travel assist, my commute is much more relaxing.
I’m using waze with no issues. Just started using it this week. Seems ok so far.
traffic was worst so far this morning. And I was ahead of that collision on n7.
Did I read right where you have to subscribe or pay to use Waze for Car Play ? they can stuff that, not worth it, I find Waze pretty useless, it's directed me into more traffic than it saved me from.
Yep tune in account and app on phone.
Ah Donegal. I always say it’s like Chilie, long, narrow, with cold winters
