I still see people being forced to wait outside shops and restaurants. I just don't see all the signs in supermarkets disappearing. As brianhere wrote in his opening post: "they have invested so much money and time in changing the whole apparatus of society".
Do you not find it all rather dystopian looking at half a person's face every day? Isn't the human side, i.e. being able to see people smile and laugh, important? Would you be willing to wear masks forever?
On sports, dressing rooms still aren't allowed to be used. Incredible to believe.
Have we learned about things that can keep people healthy or healthier? When were people ever encouraged to exercise, to eat well? Gyms were closed, but chippers remained open. People were told to stay at home. That meant hours in front of Netflix for months on end.
well thats incorrect
Ok.
What is the real reason for this restriction then?
Simple question. We still won't get an answer because the conspiracy is nonsense.
Not properly: 'It's ridiculous at this stage' - call for GAA to scrap dressing room restrictions as weather worsens (the42.ie)
Still restrictions in place.
On this
"Gyms were closed, but chippers remained open. "
Have you ever been in a gym? People picking things up, sweating, breathing heavy all in an enclosed space, do you think that's a good idea during a pandemic?
Right so not everything is permanent and yourself and Brianhere are wrong?
What about travelling and live music and weddings and pubs etc etc?
All of these where closed down and are now open again, sure I was at a wedding yesterday, was normal, no masks and dancing.
I have been away on holidays and am going again next week, is the ban on travel permanent?
Are you just going to ignore all my points like usual?
He's claimed to have some of us on ignore because our questions are too mean.
It might be that, or it might be he's ignoring them the old fashioned way. Hard to tell.
best thing to do though is to keep bringing up the fact he and his fellow theorists aren't even able to answer the basic questions.
It's taken over 230 pages just to get a straight answer about which measures are going to be permanent (turns out it's not all of them as claimed in the OP.)
I suspect it will be another long while before we get an answer as to why these measures will be permanent.
Cool continue to argue against ”claims” I never made if you like. I am talking about more about behaviours of people and politicians not test runs. We have had unprecedented restrictions in our lifetimes that would have been considered impossible not so long ago. When the impossible becomes possible then surely it enters the debate as a solution to other problems. I’m not talking about lockdown or anything, just enhanced restrictions on activities and goods that are not climate friendly. I do think taxes are more likely than restrictions but more options are now on the table.
Anyway I’m out, enjoy fighting against what you want to believe people are saying rather than reading their posts and considering their arguments. Byeeeee.
Honestly I'm not hugely passionate about checking out faces in the supermarket. So not a major loss.
In relation to health and fitness, I've got a chronic illness and early on in the pandemic experienced a flare, this has a knock on effect of my fitness plummeting. But as soon as I recovered, I went back to exercising without a gym. Only started attending a sports club again in last few weeks and honestly I'm the fittest I've ever been. So yes, we lost out on a social aspect that is returning now. But it was perfectly possible for the vast majority of people to remain fit and healthy without gym access.
Maybe rather than having a dramatic exit from the thread, you could just answer the question I asked you.
What exactly would you like me to consider? What argument are you making?
I suggested one thing you might be arguing, but never said that's the position you held. I never said you held any position.
All the things you mentioned here are back to normal in the UK and you'd be hard pressed to notice anything different in most situations from the beginning of 2020. A few clear screens still up in some shops, but they are mostly coming back down again, and the occasional person wearing a mask in shops.
Definitely wearing of masks in GPs and pharmacies, but don't see how that is a problem having potentially sick people wearing masks.
What makes you think that the same changing of restrictions and mask wearing won't happen soon in Ireland as well? Why would Ireland want to keep a higher level of restrictions permanently and how would that benefit the country compared to the rest of the world where restrictions are further along the line of getting lifted?
He's gonna tell you this is an Irish form now and he's nothing talking about the UK. He will of course mention the UK when it suits him.
Running tracks were also closed. Football pitches as well.
Is 20 laps on the running track healthier than a kebab, chips, and can of coke?
If only there were other places where people could go for a run instead 🤔
OK. We get it. You believe that the reasons the government gives for this and other restrictions are false. Cool.
What's the real reason for this restriction then?
I’m very disappointed and sad that no conspiracy theorist has backed me up on my theory that many of them are agents to make conspiracy theorists and anti-vaxers look bad. The lack of backing up surely is evidence that it’s true!
You are back... Fancy addressing my points?
ah ... so more of your typical 'i conveniently forgot to say "some" in my post, but im happy to convey the meaning as "all"... ' even though if i had have said "some" it would have negated my point completely.
so just to clarify for you, when you said "dressing rooms still aren't allowed to be used"... you were in fact, wrong.. there is no restriction to amateur rugby dressing rooms being used currently.
actually, as it stands ALL dressing rooms can be used, but its just in gaa they are restricting it to 6 people per time (which is their prerogative)
sorry for ruining your thursday with this information
England, not the UK. I agree that England could be a different planet compared with Ireland.
Ireland's Minister for Health said the other day that "these are exceptional measures, whether temporary or not". Ireland has no opposition, no fourth estate, and not once has there ever been anything said about Denmark-like normality, which is far more normal than England. England is still a bit vague when it comes to masks. They're still mandatory on public transport in parts of England.
football pitches are not currently closed as part of covid restrictions
its not a zero sum game, one of these does not negate the other. is that actually too difficult for you to comprehend?
You assume he and other conspiracy theorists read past the headline they've googled in desperation?
Not the point.
We can't even find common ground on chipper doors being wide open while the gates of running tracks are shut.
do you buy your chippers at a running track?
if not then neither of these things have ANYTHING to do with each other.
I believe the main restrictions will be permanent, i.e. masks, vaccine passports and lockdowns. I believe there will be a lockdown every winter.
You can't stop people getting married forever. You can't stop people playing music forever.
The restrictions I feared would be permanent, .i.e. the ones mentioned above, will be permanent, in my opinion.
its like schrodingers conspiracy theory.......... they have been super effective at making conspiracy theorists look absolutely ridiculous, thick and foolish.... but if and until they reveal themselves then, then they also appear as absolutely ridiculous, thick and foolish
genius really
people are getting married, live music has restarts in pubs, lockdowns have stopped.
how can you say something "will be permanent" when its already finished??
does sticking "i believe" before it justify it for you? if you you deserve to be ridiculed for your beliefs
why do you live in so much fear?
OK so not everything?
And if some are staying... Why?
I give up.
Why will they be permanent?
you never started.....
