haha thanks! 2000 posts wow, 20159 for me ? that's a lot of nonsense talk for sure!
Finally, I thought I wouldn't see this day!
Gorgeous in the evening light. Very best wishes with car..
Initial impressions, infotainment is great, great having wireless car play and charging.
Matrix headlights are simply brilliant, not having to dim the lights manually is just great, the cornering function is really great on my local dirt roads.
On the poor quality road surface of the M9 Carlow Bypass it definitely seems quieter than the i3. The id.3 goes over speed bumps a lot better than the i3 but the i3 steering feel was a lot better, felt really connected to the road, but another couple of days of 140-170 Km commute I probably won't notice any more.
Travel assist is amazing along with the adaptive cruise, will test it out properly tomorrow on the way to Dublin.
Seats, oh come on VW, no lumbar support adjustment in a 40 K car ? definitely got the poor mans seats, don't seem as comfy as the i3 leather but a few more days will let me know for sure.
Will take me a while to get used to all the settings.
Cheers, can't wait to see it in proper light lol.
I find the seats vastly more comfortable than the i3 was. In fairness I have the lumbar support and massage functions but even in the demo I had without those things I loved it compared to the hard seats of the BMW.
I agree the matrix headlights are incredible. Irritates me that you have to activate them each time though. Remembering settings isn't a strong point for the ID3...
Oh that is a pain, hopefully cured with an update. Yeah the seats in the tour look a lot better, but I'll see what I think in a few days.
Will have to get seat covers, the Chaps will have them destroyed in no time!
would you you sell it privately?
Are you driving in Comfort? If you're happy with everything other than the feel of the steering try changing the driving profile to the individual one and then set the steering to Sport.
I was wondering that. I sold my i3 for about €16k and mine was older if I remember correctly. Could definitely have got more if I'd listed privately, I sold it to a friend of a friend cheap to avoid the hassle. Plus I'd get more now than I did then as prices have increased.
Then remember to change it every time you get in the car because the setting defaults back to comfort.
She's gone ted 😓 will miss the i3, had a lot of fun in it.
But, the Boys were happy they could get out of the car on their own today, that's nice lol just not sure yet I can trust my 5.5 year old not to open the door on the middle of the road, he's a real Mad_Lad lol so might have to keep the Child lock on another while, might give him a chance first and see if he does something silly.
Was in Sport, did make a difference but will see, another couple of days and I won't notice the difference.
Yeah could have sold it private but didn't want the hassle. Been there done that.
It was mad seeing 550 Kms on the GOM lol.
Is there any advantage having we charge ?
I haven’t bothered with it. Maybe if bringing car to Europe it would be handy.
yeah the lumbar support was the main reason we went for the tour. And I use the massage function quite a bit. It helps me on commute.
One funny thing about the we connect, you can set depart timer and temp for heat but you can't set or adjust timer for charging, it tells you to go and change the settings in the car lol, that's hilarious!
Newsflash,an ID3 ain't ever gonna match the i3's dynamics...........
But then an i3 ain't ever gonna match the ID3'S Composure
Now can y'all stop talkin "bout here fancy stuff
Take a picture of it, probably the last time you will ever see it, the way you drive...haha🤣
Likewise, I could probably have got €17k+ if I'd bothered with a proper private listing but wouldn't be arsed.
Dealer offered €14k so I scouted around and a friend of a friend was keen. €16k with no hassle at all. Flogged him my winter tyres too.
Yeah mine is around 440 now. But I’m on the motorway a lot. Glad I went for the tour. Would have been tight with the 58 kWh.
Congrats, well wear, which version did you get ?
lol I should have taken a pic, got 18.5 Kwh/100 km on the way to work this morning, but saying 330 kms after trip to work. It preheated off the battery, wasn't plugged in as I had plenty to get to work. I think preheating used around 2% roughly 110 Km/hr the whole way while I tested out the travel assist and boy was I impressed, has to be the most relaxing drive I ever had as a driver lol. Really impressed with that, even in the middle lane with cars all around it never missed a beat.
The infotainment is great, being able to dictate a SMS without a single hiccup via car play and siri is really cool and it reads it back perfectly too, maybe just a tad fast but I got every word.
She's plugged in on the granny lead in Work now, shame it's not at least 7 Kw, I'll probably just about get 16 Kwh out of it but I suppose better than a kick in the arse. I'll have access to 11 Kw 3 phase on one of the sites at least so will be able to charge it from empty to full in around 7 hrs. 11 Kw is convenient. In the i3 I could charge it in 2.5 hrs or less but with the id.3 I'll get much more Kwh the longer I'm on that site because of the much larger battery.
The greatest issue I had was the speed limit sign recognition, on 2 occasions heading north on the N7 it tried to slow down to 60, it must have detected sign on slip road maybe, so I need to disable this.
Cheers. Tour 5. Would have liked a Tour but went with the 5 seats.
Yeah I decided 5 seats is better than 4 because will be handy when the Boys have friends over if I need to pick them up or drop them back home etc. the i3 was 4 seater so wanted to go back to 5 besides, it would irritate me having the space for 3 seats but forced to have only 4 lol.
well wear with it, looking good in that colour.
Glad to hear it's going well for you and you're enjoying the Travel Assist, you'll have to change your username to Calm_Lad after using it for a few weeks
I haven't really bothered with the Android Auto yet as my phone is a bit too old, seems to be very slow a lot of the time. I'm not paying the current prices for a new phones so I'll be saving for a year or so
Personally I left the speed limit recognition on, it is handy most of the time
One neat trick with the Travel Assist is that you can accelerate without fully disengaging it. If you press the accelerator it'll just pause the ACC and not the lane keeping, and when you release it it'll go back to the set ACC speed
Now that I know where the speed limit issues are I just keep my foot on the throttle around there so it doesn't slow down suddenly
Having said that, I've only done the M7 twice in the past year, so it might get too head wrecking if I was doing it every day
Indeed good phones are gone very expensive, I skipped the Iphone 13, my 11 pro is still a very good phone and it's still super fast and the camera is really good on it so I've no need to change. But you could probably get a newer faster phone for a lot less money than a new Flagship android or Iphone.
Yeah I think I'd go nuts if that traffic recognition was do do this 2-3 times on the way to work and back again but I'll try it out for another couple of days.
Calm_Lad ? hmmm not so sure lol, on one hand the rang is so much I could easily get from Carlow to Blanch and back at 140 Km/hr and still have plenty of range left so can easily go "Mad" on the other hand, the travel assist was so relaxing that I will probably just sit at the limits now lol.
Thanks for the tip with the travel assist.
Yeah I find I just am happy to sit on the limits on motorway. It’s on the windy roads I enjoy pushing it a little.
