way we do it here, we have our separate accounts, and have a joint ac which we pay a standing order into each month. Children’s allowance is also paid into that and out of that all mortgage, household and kids expenses are payed. We top up joint ac when needed.

she’d have a way better job than me so would have more disposable income. Any I have seems to be swallowed up by the next farm project.
Married 26 years just Friday gone bye and were living together for a few before that.
From day 1 we had a joint account and all income goes into that and we spend away. Over the years the person earning the most has passed over and back between us, but no odds
wee farm stands on its own with separate account, never ever add wages to it. Sometimes pays for a holiday, sometimes just spending money.
If the wife was running the house I.e buying the shopping/diseal in the car/ picking up the kids expenses for everything and anything that 400 odd euro a week that doesn't have to be found from the farm its a huge help, sole income here is from the farm with 2 chaps and another one on the way, only for the fact I'm mortgage free I'd be under savage pressure to keep food on the table
Great lifestyle if you can do it and have a large farm,
I know I'd have leased the farm and got a job if we had a family rather than strangle myself working
Similar here, farm pays herself and myself equal profits. Not much leftover.. for some reason it was the same before I met her!
2 off farm jobs here and 2 mortgages (1 house & 1 farm) lifestyle choice brought us to where we are financially, we've 2 kids aswell, farm expenses kept separate makes the finances easier. Off farm income goes to some of the farm mortgage but in a very defined way. without the off farm income i wouldn't be farming anyway.
I found that the farm went better when the loans were paid, I wans't putting as much pressure on the enterprises, If I needed a new machine I'd buy it.

Home from work yesterday evening, stuffed in the dinner and out to mow the lawn, heavy dew and fading light, evenings are fecked. I hope it’s last cut of the year, have rest to mow tonight.
I see the good old IFA are discriminating against unvaccinated members now, roll on the two tier society. They'll be checking vaccine status before meetings, time to cancel my subscriptions.

It was previously rejected on the size of it.
And then we look in the thread here on solar and there's a limit on battery size enabling farmers be more self sufficient just for their own requirements.

I’d probably be the first on here to give out about the IFA and their carry on but I don’t think this is something to complain about with them.
If there’s no medical reason from a GP/doctor for a person not to be vaccinated then stupidity is the only reason for not having it.
I’d imagine there’ll be a lot more than the IFA checking vaccine status at meetings.
So for anyone that don’t want the experimental jab they are stupid, good man. I already know a few that have had severe reactions to it including my milking machine service man who’s still in a bad way after it even though he had no precious medical issues, I’ll beg to differ with you in that.

I know people that have adverse reactions to penicillin, nuts, dairy, cats etc etc. There’s a small percentage of adverse reactions to almost every substance known to man. It doesn’t mean we dismiss them all as not to be used.
Anyway I’m not going to get into a discussion on it here as this is a farming chitchat thread but I suppose the point is there’s no use crying about discrimination when the IFA, and all the other groups holding meetings, are just following health advice and trying to limit the spread of a virus.

These are the regulations until 22nd, good to see them enforced, there'd be a different whinge if they weren't. I wasn't really aware of the regulations because they didn't effect me but I did have to go home for my Phone to get into one hotel about six weeks ago

You might be 100% behind their plans and policies, so even if you cant attend the meeting you could chose to still support them. I wouldnt have said every member goes to every meeting, but I dont know...
Or, you could be wishy washy on what the IFA are up to, and could have half being considering leaving regardless. And so the vaccine thing may not have influenced your decision all that much really.
Was it at the Balmoral Show a lot of farmers said they hadn't the time to get the vaccine, regardless of what one thinks of the vac that's right up there with the dog ate my homework.
One of our local shopkeepers was very vocal about covid being a hoax, we were walking in wood one day and met him and he was going on to my wife about it just being a cold and really nobody was in hospital with covid, even though my wife works there.
Anyway, he’s easier listened to now, In ICU ventilated with it. Never got vaccinated, very heavy set unfit man in his late 50’s.
A cousin of OH's living in the UK died in hospital a few weeks ago after contracting covid. He was in his early 50's non-smoker, no underlying conditions and worked in a cash and carry since he went to England. The sort a fella that you enjoyed meeting up with when he came home on holidays. He wasn't vaccinated although his wife was.
Usually only 10-12 attend ours, and much the same for a lot of the surrounding branches.
its kinda wrong for people to go giving out about the Ifa If they don’t attend. It’s a democracy after all.
is there still a rule though stating any of the big positions can be filled by full time farmers only?
Was there ever that rule, I don't know how you'd get the time to do the work involved if you had a job as well
And I wouldn't have a lot of sympathy for him either, I'd say he's embarassed for putting the medics under extra pressure and taking up a bed that a really sick person could've had
