Leak from water tank in attic - what am I looking at here?

Howdy,

Had some drops coming through a light fixture in the bathroom this evening and had a look in the attic.

Seems like the water is coming from the storage tank.

Seems like a slow leak for now so I've shored it up as best as I can. Saturday night as well so great timing :)

What am I looking at here basically? Replacement tank? Can they be patched / repaired?

I'll be getting in touch with a pro but would appreciate any of your thoughts. Thanks for any pointers.

No idea because the pictures are so poor. But I'd suggest the leak may be coming from the lower outflow on the left of your images with the red shut off tap on it. That outflow appears to be angled atrociously which tells me it's probably putting pressure on the tank wall probably cracking it.

I'd replace the tank anyway as it looks crappy quality no support baffles or lid.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. The pictures are as good as I can do - the leak is coming from where the towel is so without moving the tank (impossible right now) or getting up more boards for closer look, so as best I can imagine, the leak is from the bottom of the tank. I can feel dampness, under the tank at the edge of it where the lip meets the floor.

Recently moved into house so everything is inherited.

My point is you took the photos from the side with no leak... Perhaps the left side face on would be better

Point still stands. I'd get red of the tank if it was mine I'd also have all of the feeds in and out properly supported.

No - the water was pooling in the attic and eventually dripped through a light recess in the bathroom. Not a lot of water thankfully. For now...

Not a plumber swapped a number of metal tanks and others though .

My suggestion, empty tank and turn off water to it. If tank bursts it will be a lot of damage. Call plumber

Just an update here. Drained the tank last night so there'd be no drama overnight.

Let it fill back up around 10am and monitoring for leaks. Not a drop anywhere. No marks, bubble etc. Very strange. Might be just a pinprick hole somewhere. Still bad news if it is obviously. I'll keep monitoring through the day and I'll be speaking to a builder mate and later about and then plumber. Also now no water coming to the taps from the tank, wonder if I've put air in system or something...
