Not sure if this has been mentioned earlier but why isn't the redress scheme being directly correlated to each affected homeowners home insurance re-build cost?
If the houses had burnt down instead is that not what they would have received? Everyone estimates their own re-build cost beforehand so can have no complaints if it's not sufficient to replace like for like.
All that's going to happen here is every house will suddenly have a rebuild cost of 350k, and all involved will make a fortune at the expense of the taxpayer, what's new.

They tried the nice calm approach which got them nowhere so they had to escalate. Unfortunately government policy is generally based on being pressurised by different groups so these sort of tactics have a realistic chance of success.
They didn't and there is a scheme in place. They are now being unreasonable and as such will lose public opinion which politicians rely on to make this thing work.

I think you might be underestimating the headline figure here when people are trying to send their kids to college and there is no accomodation. Or they have kids in their 30s living at home because they can't buy a house or no affordable housing. People are not going to want to hand 100 percent redress as it's being called to every Tom dick and Harry..sounds like some people occupy echo chambers on Facebook and what's app tbh.

For those affected by Mica, did you pay to get a building inspector to sign off on each stage of the build? (per the law post 2014 unless you signed a waiver).
The answer to that question has no relevance to the Mica issue.
Questionable how much it has to do with the national politicians in Dublin though.
Unless I'm mistaken I think the reason they want 100% redress is because appartment owners in Dublin had got this previously but the cost of this could be a few billion which is an eye watering amount of money to have to pay out.
Blocking up Dublin just pisses people off and I said it before when the farmers did it its a bad move to do things like that.

No the reason they want 100% is so any amount of money can be spent. If it was 80 or 90% then the more that was claimed the more the homeowner would have to put in themselves.
From the crowd Mr Diver posted on Twitter, it was a relatively small crowd. Far cry from the "whole of Donegal" and certainly Dublin was not "brought to its knees" like Diver claimed.
Considering he tried to reel in other counties (namechecked Donegal, Clare, Leitrim, Sligo, Limerick and Mayo) it was a damp squib.
MICA redress account claimed 30k. There was a few thousand, far far from 30k.
Maybe these people would be better off setting up a fund to donate to than kitting their babies out in hats and clothes with mica redress printed on them?
