The next Battlefield game is slated to launch in holiday 2021 and will boast “never-before-seen scale”. That’s according to EA CEO Andrew Wilson, who recently shared a good deal of tasty info on the publisher’s upcoming releases.

“The technical advancements of the new consoles are allowing the team to deliver on a true next-gen vision for the franchise”, shared Wilson in prepared remarks for the company’s latest earnings call. “We have hands-on play testing underway internally, and the team’s been getting very positive feedback on the game as we’ve begun to engage our community.” More info won’t arrive until the spring, but it’s still nice to hear that the Battlefield 6 release date isn’t too far off.

same here. Utterly appalling behaviour from EA/DICE. They know the exact count of players who had pre-ordered and knew how much demand there would be on the servers and never added more capacity etc.

Can you imagine the shitshow on Friday when its an open beta to all.

Played 2 rounds after work, 1 solo 1 with pre made squad.

This is good, no issues connecting or grouping up. Keeping the squad on one point was impossible tho😁

Runs well for me and looks stunning, few UI bugs and spotting /commo rose dont really work.

Change your mouse sensitivity early tho.

Yeah had to change the mouse too, ah load of random bugs in it but this will be a much older build anway. Runs much better than i thought it would with a 2070 Super.... I still NEED a 3080 though ha

Just an FYI for anyone playing on console that's as slow as molasses like myself... to put on a scope/foregrip/change ammo type, hold L1 and use the face buttons to choose your options. Took me 2 hours to figure that out, playing (badly) with iron sights was painful.

I've played a few rounds now, must say I'm enjoying it. The combat has a hectic feel to it.

Does anyone else find the audio really low? What settings are you all using? Also, the first thing I did was turn off the gameplay music in settings. I found it so off putting playing with it on.

I had to look it up on the internet, would have thought they would have mapped it to the d-pad, not the buttons. I did see too where they say the spotting button isnt working correctly and dice know about it.

You'd have to wonder why! I miss the old traditional leader board. Sometimes I feel the whole team feels disjointed and I don't really know what's going on.

Hard to disagree with that. I miss the old class system, I feel that helped create a 'team' far more than the specialists. No one that I've seen runs with ammo or health crates. No one revives, and squads, for the most part barely stick together.

There is a bug with the Xbox Wireless headset and other headsets. If you have an elite controller and turn on the headset, your controller disconnects and won’t come back until you turn off the headset. A Pain in the Bollox

Jaysus, some of the bugs are hilarious. Some Vtol exploded and spinning around upside down, sideways, superfast all over the map, for ages.

I enjoy the gun set up changes on the go

Maps are huge, be interesting to see smaller versions of the same map

Keyboard mapping did take a fair few minutes so sort out

Im invincible to getting run over (sure its a bug) some lad kept running me over in a jeep thinge, all it did was push me away. He tried again, failed, and again, just pushed me some more. Then I shot him.

Miss the commo rose but they'll have it for launch. Must play a bit more tomorrow and try find a match with the the tornado. It looks great, but aware it's only a slice of the full package. Looking forward to seeing how progression etc all fits together.

Definitely looking great, keen to see it fully optimized with launch drivers etc etc

I'm playing on console XBOX Series X and it was a bit buggy not too bad though. I was wondering how do you request an order from your squad leader? My squad of randoms were all over the place, no team play at all.

No option at the moment to request anything as commo rose is disabled for the beta. Had essentially the same experience so far, lack of team play, bar one game when my squad stuck together, gave orders and revived/resupplied each other. It's games like that that show me that Battlefield is back to its best.

So long as they can fix the footstep sound, or lack thereof. Ninjas everywhere according to this game.

It was late last night when my download completed , so only managed one round of conquest.

While it certainly feels much closer to BF4 that the previous two games, There's something about it that felt a bit off to me, I'm not sure if its like the scale of buildings etc is slightly out of proportion to the player character.

I lost count of the amount of times I opened fire on a friendly, as it was very hard to distinguish the enemy from teammates - hardcore mode is going to be brutal with teamkilling if I cant improve this.

On the gun customization, I'm neither hot or cold on it, it just seems like a weird faff to be doing mid-life, I can't see many swapping optics as they enter buildings etc.

I'll play a few more rounds later, but at the moment, Its not an instant purchase for me.

Forgot i had access to this via game pass PC, its pretty impressive alright.

Weapon sounds yet again are very samey and the no commo rose just has to be sorted for release.

Barely drops below 100 fps @ 1440P High settings on my 1080TI and looks stunning.

3080 gets 4k60 and it is stunning altho when I record footage it overwrites my Nvidia settings from 4k to 1440.

Not sure if its intentional or not, no issues running it per se.

Slight janky lag when in a vehicle and not driving and same yanky lag when on ziplines, and with commo rose not overly concerned as it should be fixed (lol) by nov 19th.

Suppose the big one bothering people is the specialists, and I kinda agree, it does feel a bit silly with the same 4 characters killing each other on each time. Maybe it'll be different with full cosmetics etc, but you'd miss the generic class system.

Maybe it'll be better on launch. Would have made more sense with defined factions though and different characters per faction...

I prefer no name soliders and will pick them if available, the gadgets are that simply gadgets.

Noticed people complaining about telling enemy from team mate, seemed fairly obvious who was who to me tbh on PC anyway.

Aint gonna take a tank down so kinda pointless and very situational, in such a big map there will be so many situations you will inevitably have the wrong gadget at the wrong time.

Parachute sucks. What happened to bf3's parachute. Like you could control the speed and general direction. Here it's just pull the cord and you'll land where ever

Loving this on the PS5, any game so far has felt fun, which a lot of recent shooters have failed to be, imo. Unlike others, I'm loving the on the spot customisation, really helps the sniper class. Managed to hold down the rocket by myself at one point, sniping lads as they come up the big open area before it (duh!), and ended yp having to swap weapons multiple times once I killer someone that got up near me. Reckon I killed about 20 before finally dieing. From the same point, using a machine gun, being able to switch between red dot and acog was a literal life saver.

But like others have noted, no one playing medic or engineer. Early days though, and I'm sure people want to get a lay of the land first. It'll only get better with time imo.

Very close to a preorder here. Even with the few bugs (enemies dying and keeping the last posture they were in is my main gripe at the mo, spent enough ammo shooting these floating dead people!

Managed to play an hour or so of the beta.

Playing on PS4 pro it’s a bit jittery and there’s no map in game which is a pain.

The shooting seems a bit off to me but maybe that’s just something you get used to. I play Apex mainly and COD a bit so maybe just different.

Really lookin forward to seeing other modes and maps and upgrading the guns etc.

Are all the maps as ginormous as the beta one I played?

For me i felt a little lost with no map other than spawns and the team either hockeyed the other one or we were the ones getting hockeyed because there was zero teamwork. All really disjointed.

There’s unquestionably a game there and my guess is I’ll end up loving it (I better having preordered the gold edition,lol) but right now it just feels a tad messy.……

………which to be fair is expected and ok for a beta to be clear.

I've not played the beta yet but from the streams I've seen it looks pretty good.

Few complaining about the gun mechanics but that's mainly lads that have played Warzone for the last 12-18moths or so.

Looking forward to giving it a go though, always loved the BF series.

Hopefully there will be a full trial on ea access when it launches, but at the moment, Its just not doing it for me.

few more takeaways,

the interface is awful, and the amount of info on screen in terms of kills / points captured etc is excessive, with a bit of luck that can be customised in the final release.

I stand by my statement that its needlessly difficult to tell the difference between the enemies and your teammates, we had a standoff in the tunnel under point D last night and it looked stupid having 3 Maria Falk's on each side shooting at each other.

Have gotten in a few games on Xbox last tow evenings and yeah im liking it alot, bit glitchey and can get some random lag but has reawakened my love of BF3 & BF4, BF1 and BF5 never did it for me:

Yeah it is hard to tell who's on your team.

Awkward to tell if a flag is captured or not when looking where to go next with the sector control system.

Handy to call in an air drop vehicle when you've capped a flag in the middle of nowhere.

Haven't gotten a hang of helicopter controls yet, setting the sticks to lefty helped me though.

General gun dynamics good, had fun as engineer class with sentry turret and LMG

Not really sure how the vehicle spawn system works, doesn't seem to be alot of availability once the match starts or enough vehicles considering amount of players, hilarious to air drop a tank in behind the enemy lines when it works out though.

Is there a spot button on xbox or is that not in 2042?

Has to be a setting for this enemy view issue, played in a squad last night all on comms and 2 of the 4 couldnt tell enemies.

Myself and other could easily tell (and im colour blind).

Fair few on here and reddit having the issue, its perfectly obvious to me who is enemy and who is not even if they all have the same stupid skin on.

FWIW I think we will be skinning our standard soldiers with a massive array of options similair to insurgency/Arma 3/WW3 etc but with certain skin items costing €€€€
