RTE's new 8 episode gangland drama with an all star cast.
AMC start date is September 9th I can't see a start date for RTE just a coming soon.
Whoooosh 😉
You sound like a muinteor! It's rubbish OK.
No need for machine afterATM,just saying.
A better plot is your new account, set up the day after the show starts, and post only on the Kin thread?
Getting your knickers in a twist about people with a bad opinion of the show .... ?
Aiden is that you?
Charlie Cox who plays Michael was great in Stardust, Daredevil and Boardwalk Empire
I am kinda surprised he went for this show as he was getting good reviews for Daredevil despite Netflix cancelling there was talk of a revive by Disney or introduction in a Marvel film
Hutch has shown weakness and lack of judgement which is going to cost him. I mean, show me any big time criminal living in happy, comfortable retirement. Very rare beasts indeed. Most end up shot dead or banged up for life.
Very unlikely to happen. The director/producers/screenwriters have put her at the centre of the drama and she's there for the long run.
I hope Amanda gets killed off because it's terrible acting. Just standing in silence looking sad most of the time. Talking in an ultra slow, sad tone the rest of the time.
This. I think it was in this thread that someone posted a pic of Nidge and the lads. Rightly or wrongly, I completely believed in them in their roles in L/H. I thought they were brilliantly cast - and as I think I also read here, the switch between violence and banter was very well done.
The supporting characters also gave L/H a huge degree of believeabilty. I mean Trish for one, was superlative. Kin just doesn’t have any of those positives.
(And I thought yer man Sheehan and Ruth Negga were totally miscast in L/H, just in case anyone thinks I feel L/H can do no wrong)
In terms of future plot lines what are the odds on Amanda steering half the family into a deal with Eamonn to hand over Frank and Eric? There's no way she'll allow Eric's actions to go unpunished and she's the toughest character in the family. Birdy a big problem though. Should there be a second series would Amanda be the matriarch?
Frank is no Gerry Hutch. FFS!
Frank had no control over his gang members. They lie to him.
And then he has a plan to get a new supplier and Amanda, who's just a wife of one of the gang says they should rob Eamon which Frank asks Mikey for his opinion of and then decides to go for it. Frank is a terrible gang leader.
Apologies man, I simply lack the masochistic mindset to watch something I hate every week. I'm trying and failing to understand the attraction so I guess I'm just a dude who lacks empathy.
It’s average. I don’t think they’ve picked the right actors for the roles though. None of them are believable as Dublin gangsters.
@JP Liz V1 If this isn't the case you should ask to write the next series.
It looked the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire, with a different sign on it.
What I mean is that Sunday evening at half 9 is traditionally a very quiet time of the week for most people - especially 9-5 weekday people - Sunday evening is the last “refuge” of the weekend entertainment tv before back to the real world on the Monday - the Glenroe factor as they call it !
Agree. Very unlikeable for some reason.
Aaaaaah, that explains it..
I was like.. either she wants the roide .. or she's up to some master-planning I'm can't figure out 😁
I think part of the problem with Kin is that EJS is a fairly unlikeable actor. He is too intense and stiff an actor and is same in this as he was in the last thing I saw him in (some series on vm with Paul Mescal). I’m a big fan of Vikings (the tv series) but I cannot remember Michael in it. Him, Amanda and Hinds are just about keeping this worth watching.
Anyone notice that the hospital has a "DCH Hospital" on the outside?
Is this a real location or is it meant to be Dublin City Hospital Hospital a la ATM Machine?
May be true of some people, but not you. Seeking it out on a Friday, before it ever shows up on RTE's "quietest time of the week" - the man who could only stomach 20 minutes of the first episode is back every week, can't get enough of it. There are fans of the show who don't show that kind of dedication.
The problem is people coming on every week with predictable one-line statements without contributing an ounce to the actual discussion.
Week after week there are "this is abysmal", "this is awful rubbish", "total shyte" type posts from the same posters without offering even the faintest shred of insight into why it's bad or even any variation on previous statements, though the viewer is clearly still watching every episode.
There's been plenty posts where people have complained about the acting, the narrative, the music, the characters, the presentation, the pace, the locations, whatever. All completely valid criticism and even though I don't always agree, that's what discussion is all about.
Posting a simplistic statement like "so bad had to turn it off" or even "it's total crap", is actually fair enough initially, I don't have any problem with that.
But to follow it up with weekly variations of basically the same statement every time an episode airs without even the faintest attempt to explain why, it is kinda childish and it's not that shocking that people don't take it seriously.
Sorry now but last time I checked it’s on for a hour (less when you factor in the ad breaks) after the news and weather of a Sunday evening in autumn
it probably the quietest time of the entire week for a lot of people
come on like
This sums it up. So many people have said to me it is Fair city - but with extra slow moody “artistic” shots
when in reality the slow shots are there to fill time. bit of a con job.
the slow steaming pile of putrid shyte really does sum it up
"suspect" ??? "an axe to grind" ?? 🤔
Why are you suspicious of people on a public forum?
Also, you might direct your anger at the people that said they Hate/wont watch/turned it off or whatever, and not at me.
Go back through my posts, i said the programme was so slow etc.
i never said i hated it ! And by the way, this isnt "laying into the show the hardest" !!! Your are being a wee bit over dramatic there flower !
Are you off yer tits? Wretched? Out of shape?
I don't think a trip to Specsavers will do enough to sort you out
All the characters are far to polished & the hitman brother looks like he's one of those happy pear lads ,
Don't get me started on one of the brothers being called Viking WTF...........although his missus is a stunner,
Of course I work for KIN, thought that was obvious. I mean if viewing figures of over half a million every week say anything at all, it's that only someone who worked on it could possibly like it!!
mod: people are entitled to watch a show for any reason they see fit. TV appetites are not absolutes: people can love something, hate it, or have mixed feelings that contain both positive and negative feedback.
