RTE's new 8 episode gangland drama with an all star cast.
AMC start date is September 9th I can't see a start date for RTE just a coming soon.
The actor (Ben Carolan) is 21!!
The bit I found most ludicrous last night was all the chat and planning about the hit and other jobs happening at the top of their voices out on the public road, and all then barrelling off to same in their own cars!
And the meeting with Beady at the scene of the shooting of Fudge, because "it's the safest place for us at the moment" - really??
There's so many clunky, clangery, just plain ridiculous bits to it, but like I said before, the story is just enough to keep me watching to see what might happen next. But my credulity is wearing very, very thin.
Just catching up on this now, how come yerone has a black eye for the whole show? I know she could have gotten it in the car accident but she had it from the start of the show.
I thought the McGregor lookalike was just this awful actor trying to ham it up, but I see your point, I'd be shocked if this series gets any traction outside Ireland.
How can you not see that it's a birthmark? It doesn't look remotely like a black eye.
Ah! I just assumed she knew that already, anyway she'll have taken over the running of the family by the end of the series.
Wonder when we will see Bren who is Jimmy and Mikeys dad
I wonder is he locked up
In fairness, in the first episode, I too thought it was a black eye, violent husband etc,
Yeah she is very hands on with him for someone who is his aunt.
Wonder is there a back story about something happening between them when he was younger.
Episode 7 when Frank visits him in prison.
I found it funny the Guards providing protection for Frank as he went around the city so he could organise a drugs shipment.
Surely they knew what he was meeting the other guy for.
Eric's lady is some looker.
The assassin was the same guy that shot Jamie.
For those saying Frank is mean to Eric for starting it all, he shouted and demeaned him before Eric even did the drive by. He seems to have a major issue with his own son.
Was that the young assassin Michael met outside Ryan's Bar after the hit?
Because Eric is clearly a fvcking moron.
What baffled me though was not only including him in serious discussions about the family business but having those conversations in full earshot of his girlfriend who's already been caught lying to Frank once... They're nowhere near careful enough for a successful drug dealing operation.
Yes, he was told to shoot him too if he saw him in the bar but on the way out he was having seizure like symptoms and either didnt realise who it was outside, or realised too late and the guy was halfway down the street by then
Frank is not credible as a boss at all. He doesnt know what's going on with his own crew, nobody respects him, nobody fears him and he didn't punish (in any way) someone who lied to his face.
I think Aiden Gillen has been given a very poorly written character and not a lot of dialogue to work with so not really his fault imo
Eric lady is wretched. All make up and out of shape.
It’s utter sh1te so far, the standard of acting and storylines are laughable, Aiden Gillen, is there a worse “actor” in the world?? It’s hard not to burst out laughing at how bad it is. It’s more of a comedy than anything else.
For a hit that requires planning, intelligence and surveillance of the target, that was incredibly amateurish to just show him a pic in the car before he gets out to shoot Moore, saying oh by the way if u see this lad you can also pop him. That was completely unrealistic.
Yes that was him. If Michael hadn't been having an epileptic fit he likely would have shot him for shooting Jamie, albeit accidentally
Amanda had a point about Michael not being upset over his own son being killed.
And whoever pointed out that Jimmy was remarkably calm his brother diddled his missus is spot on!
I'd say it'll do very well for AMC, americans love anything Irish and they will lap up the mcgregor lookalike, hes an absolute god over there.
Ciaran Hinds is been chronically underused here too, I was excited to see he was cast, he nailed John Traynor in Veronica Guerin. He is been given nothing to work with here though.
Yeah, I thought the same. He's the same ginger lad that shot Jamie in first episode.
Can't believe you haven't copped that is a birthmark! Had it long before car crash.
Has it since birth 🤣
There are a lot of strong views on this thread but I have to say this is right up there as the most bonkers (to me anyway). She's very good looking IMO and having had a peek at her Instagram purely for research purposes obviously she looks in good shape to me.
I'm surprised nothing more has been mentioned about the car crash. I know it would be a fairly trivial subplot but theres no way the accident investigators bought that it was an accident and we saw that she hit him at some speed but apparently doesnt have any soft tissue damage or injuries whatsoever!
Sorry, I didn't realise it was a birthmark, I thought it was a blackeye from the car crash, my bad 😫
The makers of The Wire and Game of Thrones and Love/Hate all seem to think he's up to the job - but I guess you know better.
She is a beautiful lady. This slight physical imperfection does not detract from that a great deal.
Have to agree with you. Very good looking.
