RTE's new 8 episode gangland drama with an all star cast.
AMC start date is September 9th I can't see a start date for RTE just a coming soon.
Donβt shoot the messenger !
Cork?
That really would be jumping the shark π€£
How is Antwerp going to work out?
Been already done....
That's not what happens in real life, though, is it? The car tends to be burnt out fairly close to the scene, when they switch to another vehicle to continue their escape.
I just read an article about the series' creator and write Peter McKenna. His previous experience includes being lead writer for RTE's The Clinic and initial creator and writer of Red Rock. Peter has written some episodes of Eastenders, Holby City and Casualty. He wrote for a BBC nursing drama called Frankie, which led to his involvement with a BBC period drama called The Musketeers.
Amanda needs to be killed off. Useless character...terrible acting too. Just stands around looking sad the whole time.
Jesus, everything about it runs at a snails pace.
RIP fat Jonny Sexton
Reminded me of a younger Colm Meany, can't think of why π€
The man was quite a hit in the 90s
It's painfully slow, first time watching it on the night, normally wait and watch on player. Talk about dragging out a story
He was, but lost all my respect after his utterly dreadful performance in Star Trek deep space nine, I don't think he ever recovered π
I think the last thing I saw Colm Meany in was Gangs of London, not bad but not exactly a stretching role. He dies in the first episode then just appeared in flashbacks.
Hard to know what to make of this show. Has potential, but is guilty of some lazy and poor dialogue. At least Love/hate was comedic in parts.
Too many Dublinese and McGregorisms in parts. Michael seems to be the Darren of this series in that you sense there is a bit more than meets the eye. Emmett Scanlan, however, is stealing a living. Im watching it because there is feck all else on of a Sunday night. I don't think ill be raving about this down the line or recommending it to anyone.
β¬30k.....and it reeks of pi$$
Lazy dialogue.....as in 30 seconds of characters standing around looking out windows or into the fridge.
How is money laundered in car dealerships anyways? I know cars paid for cash...but if the buyers name/details are recorded how do they keep getting innocent peoples names and how do they get the cash to them? Do they give these people payment for doing it?
And is a load of their cash not going to be lost by buying the new bmw's etc from the manufacturers??
Let's say someone had 30k of criminal money, wouldn't the car gang not have to buy a brand new BMW costing 25k? So they'd make 5k of clean money but lose 25k of their drug money?
OH JESUS
I'd Say U2 are shiting themselves
I'm enjoying this show but we are living in a binge era so this feels so slow. I want to see Frank's crowd get one of Eamon's lads tonight but I doubt it'll happen.
Ok anything good I said about this at the start I take back it's absolute rubbish. Boring, terrible dialogue, unsympathetic characters.
I forgive you, I've never said anything good, it's just awful, the entire series to date could have been shown in 1.5 hrs had they sped it up a little.
Even worse than Love Hate
Didn't think that was possible.
I'm clearly doing something wrong, had 2k transferred to my account recently, was requested by my bank of 10 years to show proof of funds, DNA, sample and discription of the Jocks I was wearing at the time π
Frank's fond of this no way back lark
Eric's bird will be a spy yet.
I thought Love/hate was fantastic at the time, but having seen the Wire, the Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Deuce, Sons of Anarchy, and many other US productions since, it pales in comparison (while still being head and shoulders the best thing we've probably ever produced).
Great dialogue is what separates a top show from a mediocre one. Irish productions rely too much on background music to reinforce the point. And the dialogue is very space-filling and hammy. I think the producers are out of touch with their subjects. David Simon (The Wire), Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy), and David Chase (the Sopranos), seem to write about their direct experiences on the other hand. The little detail is there.
Love hate was a cracking show. Well written, memorable characters and dialogue.
Gardai being portrayed as complete idiots, the female detective quite annoying and it's clearly her first acting gig.
Tonight's episode was decent
I could have just tuned in to the last 10 minutes and told Fudge was killed to know what went on in tonights episode.
There's an awful lot of just standing around in silence, staring into space, phones ringing, people in deep thought. Very slow.
