I saw it mentioned on Facebook that Guiney's have been getting some of the ex-Debenhams stock and selling very cheap. Apparently its mainly cosmetics.
The ticket warden told us a while back that they automatically give tickets for cars parked up on the pavements, regardless of if there's a double yellow line etc, but I don't really see it happening enough. Castle St is crazy the amount of people parking up and its a narrow enough road/pavement. People are lazy, they want to park right outside the door to a place regardless of where it is!
The only enforcement around the town seems to be by the wardens checking tickets in the car park, theres no enforcement of illegally parked cars from what I've seen. Cars just throw the hazards on and fire the car up anywhere on the footpath between benners and AIB, in front of off license at super value or practically on top of the pedestrian crossing at North circular road. I've been onto the council four or five times in the last month and they never do anything. It is going to take someone getting seriously injured, or worse before they do anything
Totally see your point. I don't have a baby in a pram anymore, but it did bug me a lot to have to get around cars. They need to do something about Edward st though as its so tight there. There's a space outside the postoffice which is painted yellow that really causes issues when trying to get up. I don't see the need for it. There's a disabled space there too, but the yellow one is more an issue and if anyone parks there its hard to get around if traffic coming down other side.
As someone who both drives and pushes a buggy around town regularly I agree 100%
Removing the poles would immediately lead to people parking on both sides of Edward street again. It would do nothing for the traffic flow, but walking or even pushing a pram would turn back into the nightmare it was before the pandemic. If there was one good thing the virus did it was changing the priorities in regards of car traffic vs. pedestrians. There should be more of those poles if anything, not fewer.
I see the roadworks in Oakpark keep getting extended! They were due to finish on the 16th September, then the date changed to the 30th Sept, and now its the 8th October!
The traffic in town is crazy lately. The lights down by the train station seem to be acting up now and changing a bit too quickly. AS well as the ones in Edward street which are a nightmare. I reported them a few times that they change too quick, but nothing done. I wish they would remove those poles from side of road as its too tight there. No need for them anymore.
Kanoodle is gone in with Mizzoni Pizza next to Argos. They both share the same premesis. I'd imagine it's the same lads running it that run Mizzoni's. It's the Horan Center Deli during the day.
I personally don't get offended by the festival, its just a bit of fun! I was involved as a candidate for the Kerry Rose many years ago, so I love it! People need to relax a bit about it being sexist, its not! Just a traditional festival. Luckily we have more than just 1 tv channel to watch so no one is forced to have to see it ;)
What a poor survey. Never did one where they misspelled "dissatisfied." Like they're going to do anything with the results.
Personally, they should cancel the whole thing. Antiquated sexist nonsense.
Haven't heard of it. Where is it?
T.
Anyone eaten in Kanoodle? Just wondering how it compares to Lana.
The Rose of Tralee festival have put up a survey asking the public on their thoughts of the festival in its current format and what we would like!
Hopefully they will take on board what people think!

It does look well there but I guess, judging by the windows (or lack of) it's a dark little building. It probably needs to be torn down to be usable for a modern business.
It has planning permission I believe to be knocked and for offices and they are selling it
Such a pity. Loads of character. Plenty of standard buildings being protected just for age. Think it ties into street very well
I think that that was two units, or at least a house and a unit back before it was done up, some time in the early 00's. I have memories of a butchers there in the mid 90s
That old grey corner unit opposite Shaws that has been vacant for as long as I can remember seemed to be having work done on it/windows replaced etc when I was in town a couple of weeks ago. I wonder is a new business moving in? There's something charming or quirky about the building that I like!
They are advertising for staff so maybe it’s a second shop. Possibly one shop for formal wear like suits and the other for casual wear.
I see that Celsius is going into the old Minx/Wildpair unit in the Mall. I don't know if they are moving or opening another shop (which would be odd so close to the first one!). They move premises a lot!
There food is worth it - the owner really takes care and pride in his food and is very good with portion sizes.
The would occasionally run out of food and have to close early. I like to see that - for me it shows a good movement of food and he isn't stockpiling meats etc...
We enjoy going to Phillies and if he has a town center location, that will be perfect
Looks like theirs someone going into the former croi restaurant in the square. Plenty of activity around there today with trademen etc.
Hopefully a town centre location as their menu/food pics look great!
Meet me at Phillies is on the move too, from their place in the shop at Caheranne to a new location. The facebook page didn't say where to though. I hope he does well, his food is very nice.
Apparently, Des and Gemma Hurley are taking over Dish.
Very close relations of Paul and Aileen.
I went into Shaws today for the first time in a long time. I wanted to have a look in their Mango concession section but I was quite pleasantly surprised by the changes they have made in there. They have moved the shoe section upstairs, and now have a cosmetics and fragrance section just inside the door. Upstairs seems to have a lot more of a selection now and the shoes look much better up there. Its actually not a bad shop. I am personally delighted to see Mango there as I love that shop! Hopefully they will get in some more 'names' to bring in more people.
There's more independent shops in Tralee than chains, so more local owned shops. I guess you will have to decide for yourself what is decent as everyone has their own preference. I personally like Vero Moda and Safura for womens fashion, but they are chains. Quite a few mens shops around where Ryles are.
Are they “decent” shops? I don’t want high street chains.
There's a good choice of clothing shops for men and women in Tralee.
Can anyone tell me if there are any decent clothes/country clothing shops in town? Gents and ladies. I know Ryle clothing but is there anything else, I don’t want to take the trouble of driving all the way to Tralee if it will disappoint.
Yes
