An Post returning packages from outside the EU-See 1st post

I bought studs to customize clothing off eBay a while back from a very well rated good feedback eBay seller from the USA. According to tracking the package arrived at An Post in Dublin on the 13th July. Heard or seen nothing and no updates for 10 days then after almost 2 weeks waiting I see as of yesterday July 23rd they have gone back to New York US, really annoyed about this. Is there any reason this would happen? Has anyone else experienced this before? Is there anyone I can contact. An Post never contacted me, no attempted delivery, no missed attempted delivery or anything. Need advice please.

I wouldn't worry about the tracking number not being recognised on An Post tracking. some USPS services only provide tracking inside the US. I had one similar last week that wouldn't track on anpost.ie and I received it 2 days after paying the VAT.

Due to widespread issues with mail handled via An Post being returned to sender, due to a lack of communication regarding recent changes to customs declaration requirements, we are currently only offering DHL shipping services to RoI until further notice.

We are already in contact with An Post, working to clarify the changes to resolve this issue ASAP.

Only option now is £20 DHL Express, previously there were £5 and £10 post options. There's probably lots of UK sites suspending/limiting shipping to Ireland thanks to An Post's incompetence.

I had a package returned to the US that was posted in July. I asked the seller to resend it, but to an address in the US and had it forwarded it from there. USPS wouldn't take the TARIC codes that I had given the sender so I expected my package to be sent back. Anyway, I got a postcard today asking for VAT for a "baby car seat accessory", although the package contains synthesizer components (and is declared as such).

I paid so I'll update if it arrives.

Has anyone reached out to a seller after an item was returned, asked them to kindly include the electronic code that is required by An Post and had the package delivered successfully on the 2nd attempt?

My parcel from Ukraine had all the relevant data included on the label. The seller sent me a photo of it. After he received the return I got him to send it by UPS instead. More expensive but I got it in two days and no customs duty.

Received a package from Amazon UK without any delay or additional charges today.

It arrived earlier than initial estimate.

Dispatched Monday, arrived in Ireland Tuesday, delivered to me today Wednesday.

I did twice and they pretty much said its all to much hassle and just refunded me.

Emailed one of that two again as they are the only company I can source parts from and they never bothered to reply. When ever all this is resolved I'll be remembering the companies that cooperated even with only replies and those who didn't when I do business with them.

Ditto, they said they'd retry posting when packer got back to Oz, but then said DHL had advised a refund, as packet was returned to DHL German warehouse limbo. One of two companies also, who cut third party lenses for vintage and discontinued sunglasses. I've contacted the other, based in US, to see if they have successfully delivered here. Still waiting for a reply.

Doesn't seem to work.

I tried it with 3 shipments.

First was a £12 toy for my grandson - returned - contacted the seller - they emailed me copies of all paperwork, declarations and evidence of electronic data.

They shipped it a second time and the same thing happened, so they refunded me ad stopped all shipments to Ireland.

The second was a small pack of model engineering pieces. Returned the fist time due to "incorrect declarations". Seller checked with Royal Mail, made

any necessary corrections and re-sent it. Returned again for "Incorrect TARIC" code, but here's the kicker: An Post used the WRONG TARIC Code, not me!

The Third was a box of British Groceries sent by a company who specialises in shipping to expats worldwide. The shipment was returned with no reason given!

In this case they tolld me their shipments are free flowing all over Europe because they got everything right from day one - it's the business they're in! When my package was received back, the "documents enclosed" bag had been cut open and the contents were missing, while attempts had been made to rip off labels !

This is an update on the track and trace An Post system. Do you think the reason they often have the package sorted every day or so, is that they have to see if the customs has been paid? It might account for all the 'your delivery has been sorted' over a week. I'm hoping that it's now going to be sent to Portlaoise where I live (big An Post depot there too) and I'll get it tomorrow or next day. I'm not holding my breath

Royal mail tracker updated today to show my package had been returned to sender, An Post tracker still has it in Athlone.

So next question for me is what happens next - I assume i'm out for postage at least but EBay should have me covered for something if seller doesnt resend...

What are the waiting times for USPS packages to appear on the anpost tracking service?

I have a package that departed a transfer airport in Dublin on the 24th of september according to USPS and still waiting for anything from anpost.

Why would you end up paying for a failed postage attempt? Is the obligation not on the seller to successfully mail the package to you? If Royal Mail or AP failed them surely that's on them?

I didn't, it's the seller who's down the £15, which is why he won't try send it again. And even then I have sympathy for him, it was all registered through Royal Mail - so can only assume he was doing everything they asked of him, and that they were doing everything they thought neccesary. It's the breakdown of communication between An Post and Royal Mail that has left the seller out of pocket, and me without my thing

An Post returned a package on me recently that had been sent from Australia without contacting me at all. I managed to contact the retailer in Australia and they told me the reason it was returned was that An Post were "unable to contact me regarding customs charges". Yet they were able to send me an invoice to my home address for another package from the UK less than a month later! Twunts.....
