A new general discussion thread for the new season that is upon us.
Nationally, Sept 2021 has fallen back down to 2nd place, with the record warm Sept 2006 looking like it will remain unchallenged at this point. Table data up to the 29th:
However, it is quite possible that this month will finish with the highest mean minima on record, or at the very most, joint highest with that of 2006.
From Met Eireann.
15.4c mean for Oak Park near me. I calculate a 13c mean for today the 30th. Which would end the month at 15.3c mean. I think that's near record territory for that station..
Similarly, Claremorris is currently on 14.5c, which is 0.1c more than that the record. So looking like this station will finish either the joint highest Sept on record, or a very close second. What is guaranteed is that it will finish with its highest mean minima on record.
I always feel like an acclimatisation needs to be done around end of Sept and early Oct. People really feel the cold when the weather initially turns but it doesn't take long before they have 'toughened up' for want of a better phrase.
It's real sore throat and colds time too. April and May can be like it too.
A fresh sunny morning. I see MT'S outlook has dropped talk of storms and going for mild, even warm, weather (warm for early October). Was hoping for a decent Autumn gale.
Sunny brisk morning in Kildare. Heavy showers overnight.
I would also love a decent gale. It has been so bland of late. Nobody has complained about the colour of weather warnings in ages! 😊
There's a decent gale howling all morning here in Dublin, the windiest it's been in a long long time
Its not far off a gale here in Arklow today, gusting 50kmh
With a temp around 12c,despite the Sun,its not pleasant
despite the sunshine the wind is making it feel chilly today. Hopefully we will get lucky and get a few relatively warm and dry days later next week. Could do with a break from the wind, cool temperatures and rain.
Torrential Hail in KE
Plenty of rain the last few days. Wet and windy today. (Stunning sunny morning to be fair)

Is the Dublin rain radar down. Lashing down in Terenure and not a sign on the me rain radar
Rain blob appears 10 minutes later and dissappears.
Some very heavy rain and winds overnight in west cork, was woken up a few times. Checked netweather radar and thankfully that massive blob of rain had stayed off the coast, was looking iffy all the way up till about yesterday!
Not a bad morning today though, sunny spells, slight wind and a bit of a chill in the air. Very autumnal!
Wicklow is in a rain warning from 6pm till 4am maybe south Dublin should be in a warning too here in the northwest it's showery but not so bad
Gone quite wet now here in Arklow
It set in quickly after an otherwise lovely day
Yes where getting bands of showers here, wonder how much rain will fall in wicklow tonight
Strange beige hue to the sky in Kildare
7.2mm in Arklow
Dry now
Edit light rain again
We had very heavy rain this evening in midlands
Huge big drops too
Still dry in Kildare tonight
Easing off here
9.6mm
Lovely crisp day out today, similar day to yesterday. 14c but feels a little cooler in the northwest breeze.
Thats the same blob of rain that passed through here as well, very big drops alright and lots of surface water on the roads. 15mm in total.
Bright and Brisk afternoon in Kildare 14c
One thing I've noticed daily since the cooler weather set in is big wasps hovering ouside the windows looking to get in somewhere warm.
Yes I've noticed that as well, they can feck off hate the things, I had my back door open 2 weeks ago and a frog came in so I've to watch for those as well
A weather advisory is in place for the South, southwest, and west for Thursday and into Friday. Warnings will most likely be in place tomorrow morning
I think for Cork it’s only really the far west of the county? Should be dry enough in the City and suburbs until Saturday.
