Ryder Cup 2020 [Official Thread!]
Getting ever closer to the Ryder Cup taking place in Whistling Straits in September after it being postponed last year due to Covid. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread tracking the progress of those in the running to make the teams for Europe and the USA ahead of the competition.
Europe first of all -
To qualify, Europe take the top 4 from the European Points List and the top 5 players from the World Points list who are not already qualified from the European List. Captain Padraig has 3 wildcard picks to make after that.
A direct copy of my post from the Shane Lowry Thread...

Blue are those who are qualifying as it stands from the European Points List. Green are those who are qualifying as it stands from the World Points List.
Bernd Wiesberger the highest points scorer on the European Points list not already qualified, so if Padraig is going to take at least one more player from that list, then he is in pole position.
Shane Lowry the highest points scorer on the World Points list not already qualified, so if Padraig is going to take at least one more player from the world points list, then he is in pole position.
After that for the final pick, who the feck knows lol but Justin Rose or Sergio Garcia I would think the most likely given their previous Ryder Cup records and I think he will favour someone with experience to make up the final spot over a rookie such as MacIntyre, especially playing in the US.
He recently spoke about Garcia's pedigree in the Ryder Cup and of his record and said if Sergio was in need of a pick, he felt he would have to pick him based on his experience.
USA next
To qualify, the USA take the top 6 players from their Ryder Cup rankings and Captain Steve Stricker will have 6 wildcard picks to make from the rest.
How the top 20 of this list is looking right now...

The top 6 are well out in front at the moment but the remaining 6 picks could come from anywhere. Patrick Reed is surely a shoe in with his previous record. Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth will also no doubt get a pick. After that he could look at Billy Horschel and Scottie Scheffler who contended the final of the World Matchplay.
And who after that. Would Daniel berger in 9th miss out ? Or should he bring Phil with all his experience or maybe even Will Zalatoris. If anything having 6 picks could prove even trickier than just having 3
It will be interesting to see how this plays out throughout the summer, particularly with 2 more majors to go which could affect the points heavily one way or the other
