We don’t control them simply. Control means you have the ability to refuse, according to ‘your’ parameters needs and wants.
“but you’re anti EU yes ?” Are you asking me or telling me ? :) I’m anti certain aspects of the EU policies on immigration ... anti EU no... I would like serious reform on this aspect on the EU.... ie. members, Ireland being one of them, having the ability according to conditions, as in conditions here, to refuse people ‘seeking’ asylum.
None the less I'm done with conversing with you anyway.
Well we do control our border. With the exception obviously of EU members.
we also have the ability to refuse people seeking asylum. Granted, it's a long drawn out process, but it is there. It's not the fault of the EU that there are endless appeals, that's our own laws and constitution that allow that.
Ever pause to think England, France, etc would not have produced radical islamists if they hadn't the number of muslims in the first place.
Maybe likes of Hungary and other Central/Eastern European states are onto something ?
The problem for Europe is that a lot of these recent so called immigrants, and we all know how you love to label the dodgy asylum seekers, dingy jumpers, truck hiders as immigrants so that you can muddy the waters with real legal contributing integrating people, is that they add nothing but a drain and strife to the host country.
In the past it was the offspring of immigrants that has caused problems, but now it is the new arrivals themselves.
Or perhaps you forgot about Nice, Stockholm, Berlin, etc, etc, etc.
Yet you want to cheerlead for more.
If they want to live in a backwards shytehole then they can stay where they are, rather than turn our countries into one.
Name these wonderful countries please ?
I'd say the problem with Islam is the Sharia Law and how strict they like to practice that. I also find it insulting if a Muslim calls somebody who doesn't believe in his religion as a "non-believer". It should be different-believer than non-believer....
I've often noted that in countries like Canada Muslim immigrants are often better skilled and educated than the locally Canada born population. They often speak 4 or 5 languages fluently, plus have professional degrees up to doctorates.
In many EU countries that's exactly the opposite with all various results.
Immigration needs certain rules, in order to work positively for everyone.
In Ireland I don't see it so much of a problem, as the cost of housing and the cost of living is rather high, this together with the absence of a "Sweden/Germany-like" welfare system alone suggests a decent and more than well paid job offer.
I already did. Read the thread
Would you suggest that Ireland should ban all Muslims?
This afghan lad is in direct provision gets caught selling weed and speed, throws a dig at a shop owner who asked him to wear a mask in the shop. Then doesn't keep appointments with his kinda parole officer. Sure it'd be racist to deport him anyway!
No doubt he has applied for paddy to bring his family over and paddy will oblige. We deserve everything that's in the pipeline tolerating this crap.

Polling of 10,000 Europeans in 10 EU countries in 2017 has showed that 55% supported a Trump style travel ban for Muslim majority countries. Only 20% rejected such a ban. Given the wildly radical polices of mass migration which have created huge ethnic enclaves, with entirely predicatable strife resulting, to regain something like normality an equally strong correction is required. There is no particular reason why there should be any significant Islamic migration to Ireland or any other EU country afterall. Such a correction would harm no one and would instead benefit Europeans.
You can rest assured no such correction will happen though. Europeans have relentlessly rejected and disagreed with mass migration for nearly 7 decades and their views have been entirely ignored. We call this democracy.
There is so such thing as the 'ethnic Irish.'
There is
It's amusing to see that sort of dumb ideology copy and pasted from American culture wars to Europe. How long before we're told that Ireland is a melting pot, a nation of immigrants, etc, etc. Not only is it incorrect (even in the context of the US), it's just lazy to use the same playbook.
Europeans have consistently voted for political parties which openly promote and support mass immigration.
It's simple historical truth. We're a mongrel race - as are all races. The Irish probably more so than average. There are more people of Irish descent living outside of our small island than there are living on it.
Prove it.
The ethnic Irish exist with or without your agreement.
Oh, the mongrel Irish - there is another copy and pasted claim. What races are you even talking about when you deny the existence of ethnic groups?
Can you provide some evidence for this assertion?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_people
Someone ticking 'ethnic Irish' on a box on a census form means nothing. Historically, many of us who happen to call ourselves Irish are descended from Vikings/Celts/Saxons etc. In other words, most of us - all of us, really, are mongrels. Trace it back far enough, we are descended from monkeys. For that matter Christianity and Islam are very recent, modern inventions.
You can argue against the doctrines of Islam or any other religion, and I'd probably largely agree, but that's sceal eile.
I don't need to, anymore than a BLM activist needs to prove the existence of african-americans. As it is you already accepted the existence of the ethnic Irish when you said there were more people of Irish descent living outside of Ireland than in it.
The problem is that any different opinion is always considered as "hate".
If one isn't welcoming to Muslims one is always earmarked as somebody who "hates".
I would personally never support a travel ban based on majority Muslim countries, however I would honestly support any political move to limit Muslims from settling permanently in Europe, unless they have a high education, university degree and good language skills.
Islam is simply not our religion and our European culture. Europe should be a majority Christian / catholic, protestant or orthodox place. Do I therefore "hate"? No, I don't "hate", it's only called freedom of expression to me.
Or ever noticed how some small minorities of Christians are treated in majority Muslim countries? Why should we in Europe be tolerant to the intolerant?
Your own link disproves your assertion.
The problem with this is that Christianity is also not native to Europe. Like Islam, it's an imported religion. Both are from the Middle East, as is Judaism. Europe was pagan before the Christian conquests. Your statement that "Europe should be a majority Christian place" is just your own particular aspiration.
Did you read the first sentence??
Did you read the rest of it? The article clearly has numerous contributors.
Well, that's a bit more than a while back.....
Christianity is at least a lot longer in Europe and shaped our culture, our thinking, and a lot older in general.
That doesn't necessarily make it historically better. Think of the holy inquisition, like the movie "the name of the rose" etc....
The Muslim world was way more advanced back then.
However today, I'd say is way the opposite.
In most Muslim dominated countries on Europe's doorstep you find political systems like in Europe more than 100 or 200 years ago. Either militants or religious fanatics.
Morocco seems halfway stable, and Turkey maybe only militarily due to NATO membership. The rest of them are just a nightmare.
“Irish people are an ethnic group native to the island of Ireland”
All races are mongrels. If people want to call themselves Irish, then, fine, be my guest.
Well, mass migration is of immense benefit to corporations. So mass migration receives well funded media support, whilst opposition to mass migration is demonised. Its true to say opinions against mass migration are relentlessly linked by media to negative/embarrassing identifiers: poor, uneducated, violent, etc. The aim being to ensure people don't voice perfectly reasonable views because its embarrassing to be associated with the media created image.
I would say that I also don't support a travel ban targeted against Muslim countries. I know a lot of people generally, and contributors to this thread in particular, have a bee in their bonnet about Islam. Islam is problematic, but it's mass migration that is the key issue in my mind. I think overly focusing on the merits or flaws of Islam as a religion is a pointless tangent.
Any mass migration into a European country - be it from Islamic or non Islamic countries, or even indeed another European country - that leads to ethnic enclaves forming is the actual problem. So for me it's purely a numbers game. I have no issue with migration, but if the numbers of migrants becomes overwhelming that it becomes mass migration by definition then it doesn't matter how skilled or unskilled they are, or which particular type of ethnic enclave is forming. The issue is the unassimilated ethnic enclave forming. Only trouble can follow, regardless of how highly skilled the people forming it are. After all, even if the first generation of migrants are highly skilled and hard working, it doesn't follow the second generation will be. If anything, the troubles start with the second generation.
Completely agree.
