RTE's new 8 episode gangland drama with an all star cast.
AMC start date is September 9th I can't see a start date for RTE just a coming soon.
Jeez, we get the point.... 🙄
Very slow, and bland so far .....
Soft/out of focus works a few times but not 6-7times per episode .....
I'll try ep 3 and decide whether to continue or not ....
This about sums it up for me.
There is a bizarre mixture of really, really good acting - and then some mad stilted lines and acting (the scene where Amanda standing in the kitchen talking to her other son - she sounded and looked like a robot!)
And at one stage the camera lingered on a face (might have been Amanda?) but there was only one side of the face, two-thirds of the shot was out of focus room/space - maybe they were trying to be stylised or edgy, but it just looked like someone pointed the camera to the wrong place!
Anyway, you can kind of see the potential for a few storylines alright, so might yet come good - but the two openers have been fairly shocking IMO.
verdict so far- not Fu-Kin great
could watch Ciarán hinds all day- clear standout so far-- Aidan Gillen not so much- there’s a lot of constipated “prestige” acting going on- will keep giving it a spin but needs to up its game big time
I'm a huge fan too since Rome. But he doesnt seem great in this. His attempted portrayal of a dublin scumbag comes across is off. He comes across more as mentally impaired or handicapped than anything.
Yeah what's with the constant frown face.
Yeah always rated him in what I've seen ....Munich most notably
Honestly never knew he was from Belfast, never bothered enough to look it up ....first remember seeing him as John Traynor in Veronica Guerin so just always assumed he was a Dub
So do you all think tomorrows episode will be funeral and revenge followed by all hell breaking loose in episode 4 or what?
Picture a cross between the red wedding and the end of the Godfather - it will be nothing like that!
Remember that some of us won't see Episode 3 until Sunday on RTE - no spoilers please!
No worries Declan, I'm well aware of that so there will be no spoilers from me.
Wrong BJ recipient
I think he is trying to portray someone who’s had a stroke ?? Something like that??
That's what I thought from his dialogue in episode 2 at the 'stop off on the way to the airport', his speech comes across as someone with bells palsy or some kind of facial paralysis. I saw Ciaran Hinds being interviewed on LLS last week and he didn't speak like that so it must be for his character?
Munich, Game of Thrones, Miami Vice (movie), Sum of All Fears, Lara Croft, Frozen, Harry Potter, etc, etc. They guy has been hard to avoid for thirty years.
Was Caolan Moore shot dead? He was in Franks gang wasn't he?
Eamon's. No spoilers please - some of won't see it until Sunday on RTE.
I'm talking about the first episode. lol
Eamon doesn't have a gang, just two groups below him who are against each other now.
No he wasn't killed in ep1, he was shot at in a drive-by then he asked Eamon's permission to retaliate
I've lost the flow of what's happened so far then.
I thought Moore was in one gang (which got their supplies from Eamon). Then Viking shot at those lads as retalitation?
At the very start of ep1 Frank had a meeting with Eamon and said Moore was 'encroaching' on his territory, he didn't elaborate on that but presumably he's dealing in their area. Eamon said that Moore buys exclusively from him whereas Frank does not, as a result Moore is loyal and Eamon won't do anything about it.
Viking drove up to Moores house and started mouthing off, and got a few slaps for his trouble. Humiliated he went home, got a gun and did a drive by on a garden party that Moore and his friends were at
That would make more sense. Kind of bizarre though as I don't remember them alluding to it in either of the episodes.
Yeah so it must have been one of Franks that shot Moore?
He's caught a bad case of Aiden Gillen's talk through the side of the mouth malarky.......very contagious condition
They're planning to, but it hasn't happened yet
So what happened in ep.1 that made franks gang retaliate?
Church of the Holy Spirit in Greenhills. Its about 30 seconds from my parents house so know it pretty well!
Kind of odd seeing it on TV.
Actually playing guess the location is fun , I reckon "Frank Ryan's Bar" is actually the McGrattan in Fitzwilliam lane , off Baggot St, Although the interior mightnt be .
The Magician!
The lane they all live in Comer place or whatever it is must be made up?......never heard of it in that area
Course it is it's Lansdowne Lane 🙄
Good to see Denise McCormack back on TV after Red Rock.
