Excuse me, thats quite a rant.
Those of whose who lives are worsened by closing off half of main roads have every right to protest.
And contrary to what is being claimed about public support for making Deansgrange Road one way the facts are only 13 per cent of submissions made supported this proposal.
The local councillors have been told in no uncertain terms that this proposal is not wanted by the vast majority of the local residents and this is because the traffic using it now will end up congesting other roads, most of it wont shift to bikes and there isnt capacity on public traffic to take hundreds of extra passengers every morning.
The people who have to live in this area are entitled to voice their opposition, we arent members of lobby groups who use social media to magnify our voices.
The cycle lanes being proposed including the proposed changes to Stillorgan Park will cause too much chaos, too many cars stuck in traffic jams causing pollution on residential roads. Put in cycle lanes of adequate width that leaves enough room for cars to move, maintain cycle lanes that are in poor condition and lets make progress.
Enacting these unacceptable proposals and trying to ram them through under covid measures is not good policy, the traffic is back to normal now, worse than ever in fact as many people wont use public transport, reality has to be dealt with.
would you like someone to create a 'safe space' somewhere for you?
i take issue with your post and reference to me as intellectually bankrupt also.
Well done, very nicely summed up!!
if thats the standard of posting you want to see around here it should bode well for the future,
are we all ok now to personally insult each other?
IMO the post was thoughtful and the standard higher than average.
an interesting insight into your thought processes.
There you go, getting personal again. Very quick descent this time, quicker than usual wouldn't you think??
If I posted that you were intellectually bankrupt you would whinge to the moderators.
That post is extremely offensive, actually naming posters who dare to disagree with the gang. How does this intimidation improve a discussion forum.
i think you are mixing me up with someone else, when have i ever gotten personal with anyone?
You should take a long hard look at yourself supporting the post above, i stand by that.
No. Definitely you sweetheart.
God. Mav, do you keep a feud jotter.
you define that as getting personal? bit sensitive are we?
Name calling generally is considered personal, some would even say offensive, not me mind you, as it just indicates the last refuge for some!!
But you keep referring to posters thought processes and sensitivities. Why is that?? Genuinely interested to know.
a term of endearment is name calling?
the reason i keep referring to your thought processes and sensitivities is because they are fascinating to me, you are happy to praise a poster for blatant outright personal attacks and then try and create a personal attack from the above, its bizarre.
Some would say condescending and insulting but certainly when combined with the gaslighting, personal! Which is the point from the beginning i.e. that you can get personal very quickly.
Any more comment from me would be getting into the personal and I'm not going to go there!!!
I am not woke so i didnt know what gas lighting meant really,
imagine my surprise when i googled it
Gaslighting is a form of emotional abuse that's seen in abusive relationships.
Gaslighting indeed 😁
Wetasanotter is perfectly entitled to his opinion about all topics as well as about me and my utterances.
He does speak as if his interpretation of sustainability and liveability is some sort of gospel on the subject. I politely suggest that it is not and that the opinion of any Dun Laoghaire resident or business or visitor is as valid as any other when it comes to the future of the town, especially the ones being actively excluded by some current policies.
Anyway, I think he's most upset with the fact that I'm winning, through local connections and elected and influential people and building a consensus, not waving abstract concepts around at people that have no interest or understanding of them.
To complete the definition: "It's the act of manipulating a person by forcing them to question their thoughts, memories, and the events occurring around them."
Can be a very useful strategy to question thought processes and sensitivities and as I said usually the last refuge!!
manipulating and forcing?
i can safely say gaslighting is not a phrase ill ever feel compelled to use regarding a discussion on a web forum.
Wetasnot is extremely arrogant and rude.
I object to the insults he posted, his opinion is not more important than mine, whats hapoening in Dunlaoghaire has the potential to cause traffic chaos and this is misery for local residents.
The proposal for stillorgan park includes removing right filter turns into local housing estates, how are Waste disposal trucks going to get access then, are they going to sit in long lines of traffic waiting to turn.
Well there you go now, you're broadening your horizons and learning new words, what's not to like?
No need to thank me😁
Maybe the trucks could change their route and approach from a different direction? Or would the sky fall in if that happened?
i won't 😁
Don't you just love it when this thread kicks off??
And get stuck in the traffic on Caryfort Avenue, do you think residents on this avenue want smelly waste disposal trucks queuing outside their house.
Well they have to queue somewhere and Carysfort Ave is as good, if not better than most other places!
Well, dat's just shockin. I suppose you're right, on mature reflection. The good burghers of Carysfort Ave shouldn't have to suffer the indignity of having "smelly waste disposal trucks" anywhere near their house. I'm assuming that the household waste of the good burghers of Carysfort Avenue is gently perfumed with citrus notes and apricot blossoms to avoid any current difficulties, so it wouldn't be fair for them to have to encounter any nasty, smelly trucks with those nasty, smelly workmen involved.
Does their sh1te not smell on Carysford Avenue either?
Well, no, at the moment they get into the filrt lane and turn right into the housing estates, they are pretty big trucks so obviously the route they use at the moment to get to those houses is the best option.
Andrew thinks shure whats the issue, the can just drive back down roads they have already come up, maybe reverse the whole length of these roads and somehow or another turn and approach the housing estates off Stillorgan Park from a different direction.
The stench of these trucks, you really dont want them sitting in a line of traffic outside your house, no one wants this.
Andrew has a big issue about reverse snobbery, its very tiresome.
No. Most, practically all of the turns on Carysfort and Stillorgan Pk are on the same sides of these road. So if they changed direction and came up Carysfort and turn right onto Stillorgan pk the vast majority of turns into estates and parks are on the left hand side. So no right turns. Simples!
'Reverse snobbery'! You're complaining that people might have to suffer the extreme indignity of a bin lorry passing their garden once a week, and I'm the one with snobbery issues.
Where's that Comical Ali gif again?
