...and if it is not breathable, then you possibly will end up soaked anyhow!
I'd take breathable and not waterproof. I'd be looking at them as a warm layer for cold weather cycling, rather than wet weather gear
No way I would get one. Cheap rain jacket, you will suffer for every time you wear it.
Light plus camera for just the 119euro = for whatever reason, this looks pricey to me.
Dont have a camera.
The plain lights look decent. Nothing else there really for me, maybe a few water bottles.
Presume a trainer for 50 euro will be 50 wasted?
It's hard to get a decent camera for that price.
Just to be clear, it's not the rain jacket I'm looking at, it's the winter jacket above it on the page
The tights look decent
The latest iteration of the camera that rips off had an RRP of €300. No idea how it compares performance and spec wise to the original Cycliq Fly12 which it looks very similar. I have that one, and am happy with it from a "be seen" point of view and the camera works fine. It'll get around a club spin, if I remember to turn it off at the coffee stop.
if I remember to turn it off at the coffee stop
You can configure Cycliq cameras to shut down after a period of inactivity.
Have you ever actually done anything with the camera - strikes me as the type of gadget that might never get used, like the three fitbits I got for the kids currently sitting in a drawer somewhere.
Only time I would've, I hadn't turned it on! Bright summers day, so I wasn't running the light but it wasn't on. I generally always used it in flashing light mode, but decided against it that day typically! Other times I could've, I was in the wrong position in a group so didn't have useable footage of the close pass/ dangerous overtake.
tbh I paid similar to the Aldi light - I was looking for a light, and a bike cam, at the time. I wouldn't pay €300 for latest one, especially if the light isn't even as good.
I've never got a decent pair of shorts or tights from Lidl/Aldi, in my experience they're a waste of money.
in my experience, their clothing is grand for a commute. not much more than that though, but they may have improved since i bought clothing there last.
Did Aldi/Lidl have bike specials recently?
Not since April.
I've a Lidl base layer top which is great. Bought about 8 years ago and is still one of my preferred base layers. The shorts and bib tights bought at the same time were a waste of money.
oh, i still use merino arm warmers i bought about five years ago. can't remember if they were lidl or aldi.
I have a base layer too and bottoms two off bought around 8 years ago in Lidl, beginning to wear out now but have had several since that are no way as good, think it is time to check Amazon and see if I can get same as original ones.
Aldi cycling special next Sunday 19th so keep an eye on the website, the special isn't live yet.
What to people think of the tool box for the money? I've probably got all that and more but I'd suggest to to a friend who's always borrowing stuff from me if it was worth the money.
I reckon for thirty quid it's a good starter kit, particularly if your mate is starting with nothing. It's the sort of thing you can add to, and replace tools with better quality ones one at a time as you go, but there's enough stuff that you won't be stuck for doing basic maintenance from the start
Scroll back a page for the link to the leaflet with the details
It's decent. I got a similar one from CRC for €42 a few years back.
They've reduced the range of cycling stuff significantly over the past year or two. Nothing for kids at all
Not sure if Aldi have sold these before but if they have does anyone have any feedback on them?

Do they ever leave the specials out the evening before?
They used to do a decent range of Motorcycle gear too as did Lidl, now nothing at all, glad I picked up some of it at the time, good gear at a decent price, as good as Amazon any day and a lot to be said for being able to look at the gear physically before buying.
They just weren't selling though. I was in Aldi last night, and there was stuff red labelled from the last cycling specials.

With any of the special buys, it seems like the whittle down the offerings based on how well it sells. Its the same with DIY etc. There have been things I was watcing out for that I missed on first offering, that just never came back in the rotation
It's really since they've become more widespread. 10 or so years ago, any special (of anything*) you'd have to queue. Rare enough to see that now they're becoming more common. Plus obviously the internet meaning you can just buy stuff for similar prices. Clothing you can better gear, cheaper from Ali (notwithstanding customs issues recently).
*OT, but I remember queueing for a Free to Air satellite receiver. Now I could rock up to any electrical shop, not to mention several online Irish suppliers!
