Anyone know a quick way to contact Gamestop head office? Their phone number on the site says they are available until 4 pm but I rang 10 minutes ago and message said office was closed. Preordered a game for 80 euro in July with 5 euro deposit paid. Guy in the store now said it went up 20 euro and he can't give it to me for the price I preordered. Surely against the law?
Edit: head office called the store and told him to sell it for the original price, all sorted.
Lost in Random is getting decent reviews. Lots of 8s.
Why are you paying for two GamePass subscriptions?
Yeah I thought I only needed one sub if one machine was set as the home xbox? But that didn't seem to work - one of them was always losing access to the gamepass games. Maybe I did something wrong but will look at it again before the next month is due.
Sounds like you were losing you're internet connect frequently for the console that wasn't set as home but was using the purchasing account.
I'm down with any game that tells me at the start "to shred a sci-fi guitar odyssey hold X" 😀
It's stunning and simple and just what I needed really. The mini games / battles feel out of place though for a game that constantly pushes you forward.
EDIT: It's also got Carl Weathers in it's voice talent.
AKA Apollo Creed!!!!!
Forspoken is steadily gaining my interest.
Not just him, Lena Headey, Mark Strong and Jason Schwartzman, really am loving the vibe it gives off
Finished it last night, just about the right length for what it is. Thought there was going to be way more of those button jams than there actually turned out to be. It was a real feast for the eyes and ears.
A new mod for Doom;
From the website;
I can't ask you for any money for this game - Thatcher's Techbase is based on licensed code and assets provided by id Software, and uses copyrighted images, sounds and other reference material.
If you enjoyed Thatcher's Techbase and would like to show your support, why not consider making a charitable donation to one of these organisations?
Honk if Thatcher is dead.
...
Wow, so that's what HDR is all about, I get it now! I really enjoyed this game. "Game" is a bit of a stretch, maybe interactive adventure is more accurate. I can see this coming to Netflix games. It's as if it's designed to be playable on a remote control.
For the day that's in it...
No Clip full documentary on Prey. Last year they did a documentary on just the intro:
I have tried to get into Prey on 3 separate occasions and just couldn't.
Yeah it's an OK game, has its moments but really really drags on at times.
I am not as crazy about it as many people are, and it does take a while to get into, but it is absolutely worth playing. Immersive sims are too few and far between.
Poundland System Shock 2.
Which isn't a bad thing.
What was the furthest you got @J.Marston?
I've watched the full documentary. Interesting how right off the bat the worst thing about the game - the title - was a contested subject when Bethesda first forced Arkane to use it.
They said if they could change anything about the game it would be the length and the amount of powers. I do think the third act goes off the rails and it becomes obvious that the human powers are clearly the best. Although the mimic power from the alien tree was awesome too. Interesting thing about the mimics was not only how complicated it was to get right seeing as the A.I. was random (meaning cool moments could not be...mimicked) but how the player being able to copy its powers resulted in the devs having to make areas you otherwise would not be able to get to more detailed. I also never clocked on to the exterior size and shape of Talos not reflecting the interior. Sneaky!
They also talk about the negative reaction to the ending which I personally loved.
The only thing I would have wanted to know is what actually happened to Morgan.
They say they're immensely proud of the game and that they don't know why it wasn't a commercial success at the time even though it seems since gamepass more and more people have taken to it. They address that 4/10 review saying all it took was one angry journalist who otherwise enjoyed it up until the game breaking bug and that hurt them. What I wish they would have addressed was the fact that Bethesda's ridiculous policy around review codes was the problem. If the journo had Prey earlier he would have contacted Arkane/Bethesda for support. I love Bethesda; they're a great publisher but they really need to stop stepping on rakes in their own front yard, as Greg Miller would say.
Some distinctions:
Arkane Lyon did Dishonoured 2 and Deathloop .
Arkane Austin did Dishonoured 1, Prey and are developing Redfall.
All fantastic games by excellent teams with Deathloop being quite possibly my GOTY. Arkane studios is the best developer in the world IMO. It's like they're incapable of making a bad game. Cannot wait for Redfall which is said to be an immersive sim Borderlands and judging by those leaks that seems bang on. I have the Mooncrash and Dishonoured 1 DLC so will get cracking on those when I can.
Prey seemed to be sent out to die by Bethesda. Very little marketing and landed at a very busy time full of great games.
And the review policy probably didn't help. Imagine if Prey was reviewed two weeks before release and reviewed really well and built up a lot of hype about the release.
Instead it was released and an hour later everyone had forgotten it existed.
I'd be a huge fan of Arkane, yet I still struggle to remember Prey came out at all. As you say it kinda got a little buried, marketing wise.
Have you definitely enabled it? Reddit is littered with people finding out later that they weren't using their monitors correctly.
Yeah the control centre thing (display overlay thing) for graphics card showed it at 120fps.
Seeing Mark Brown of GMTK on camera after years of just the disembodied voice is a surreal experience 😅 Interesting project he’s planning though, seems like the natural evolution of what he’s been doing!
Cool, I'll look forward to that!
Seen this earlier and "inspires todays retro shooters" pops up during it.
Bit harsh on themselves, they inspired all shooters.....
A bit meh, shame they're not bringing out a new quake game.
Wish modern shooters would learn from Quake. I finished this remaster recently and the level design should be an embarassment to any non-arkane developed big budget FPS.
Bit unfair on the recent doom games, but yea. Call of duty ruined that genre.
