Far too pricey for what they are, and only two types, one was just a margherita - add your own ingredients. You can buy the pizza base, sauce and toppings in the aisles next to them for better value.
Whereabouts were these?
Just in the freezers with the rest of the ice creams.
Mr. Dizzy couldn't resist buying tub of Quality Street on Saturday 😀
He almost fainted when he went to get his bag of jelly beans though, there were none! Not a sign of either the regular or sour ones.
Thanks! Went to a better-stocked Aldi today and found them. Really good and yes, really expensive (didn't stop me buying 3 boxes 😶)
The bad news is the jelly beans have been discontinued!😭 Was a big fan of the sour ones myself. Also, the specially selected crisp range seems to be gone also. I loved the sea salt and chardonnay vinegar flavour ones.
Oh no! That's such a pity - and we'll miss those crisps too 😕
Acti Leaf Soymilk (Unsweetened). 👍🏻
I spotted some Ready Set Cook meal kits last week for €2.19. Picked up a Pad Thai and a massaman curry one to try. Think they had red/green curry packs too.
We had the Pad Thai this evening and it was delicious. I used some thinly sliced sirloin instead of prawns/chicken and a bit of veg.
We had a small few chips and a spring roll each and the "serves 2" had myself and the 2 kids rightly stuffed. You'd easily feed 2+2 with a few small sides with it.
Think this could be a weekend regular when the boss is working evenings as she doesn't like noodles.
The crispy battered fish goujons seem to be gone, my son is distraught.
Have you tried the ones from Supervalu? I bought a pack today because my daughter said they're really good.
Would really recommend the lemon sole in breadcrumbs in the freezers (2.49), they are reallly nice.
Whereabouts in store are these found, with the ready meals in the fridges or somewhere else? Havent made pad thai in a good while, this will kick start me
They were down the aisle where the naan bread/tomato puree/pot noodles/herbs and spices were.
So the general theme of the last couple of weeks seems to be Aldi cutting back on their product range. I wonder if this is Brexit/trade related or a general cost-cutting measure. If it is the latter then it is a bit rich given their bumper sales over the duration of COVID.
I know an assistant store manager, I asked him and he said some vendors just can't supply the goods at previously agreed prices due to costs of everything gone up. Aldi like to send shelf prices down not up.
I'd pay double the price for those sea salt and chardonnay vinegar crisps! I've bought the Dunnes branded ones to try out this week, hopefully they'll be similar.
Myself and the other half are really missing the sea salt and lime tortilla chips too. It's a shame to see things we've enjoyed for years gone, it seems it is mostly the higher end "specially selected" products which are discontinued.
If it's any use to you, I got Tesco Finest sea salt and white wine vinegar crisps last week - and they were every bit as viscious as the chardonnay ones - practically stripped the lining of my mouth!
If that's what you're after, I can recommend them. I'll be sticking to the slightly gentler versions!!!
Yay! I'll pop into Tesco if the Dunnes ones don't measure up, thanks :D Vicious is a great description and 100% what I'm after.
They were back in my local Aldi yesterday! Not too many left when I got there but was delighted to see them.
You've made my day, I'll pop in this evening for a look. The Dunnes ones were useless by comparison.
Will second the pad thai.
Don't buy the Tefal Cake Factory without checking Bargain alerts here. It's nearly a hundred euro cheaper direct from Tefal.
Its probably been mentioned back up the thread somewhere but the garlic and herb lemon sole in the freezers is some really nice fish. 2.49 for two pieces, only problem is it is 250g, i.e. about 125g each portion so a little bit small. But they taste great, they've become a once a week meal for me.
I was raving about the Rady Set Cook Pad Thai meal kits last week. I've had it a second time, with chicken and its still a winner.
Wr also tried the massaman curry which wasn't great. Supposedly mild, and while I wouldn't class it as hot, it certainly wasn't mild either and not a whole lot of flavour off it. The kids couldn't finish it and were swishing milk to kill the heat lol. Definitely wouldn't be trying it again.
I'll be stocking up on the pad Thai tho, there's a long shelf life and it's the kind of product that just dissappears never to be seen on the Aldi shelves again.
New Tony's chocolate in the specials aisle at my local today - https://www.confectionerynews.com/Article/2021/09/20/Aldi-partners-with-Tony-s-Chocolonely-to-launch-own-label-chocolate-bar-in-UK
They are excellent I’ve been using them for some time too.
With those are they for one or two people? Saw the packet last week but didnt buy it as I forgot my glasses and couldnt read what else was needed. Is it just chicken and an egg you need extra and everything else is in the meal kit? Does it have dried bean sprouts in it?
I actually saw them by the tills in Aldi in Cork this week and I almost bought them. Lidl have a similar one too, I wonder if they're also Tony's?
Yep, the Lidl "Way to Go" bars are also made by Tony's
That would explain why they're so delicious!
