I do Dublin to Galway regularly. No issues doing that on a single charge. The route is well serviced with fast chargers as well so multiple options to stop for a quick charge on way up and down.
Anybody watch the video by "Battery Life" on YouTube? I haven't had the chance yet but he is apparently reporting 9% battery degradation after 1 year.
That sounds off to me. Not even a Leaf would be that bad.
I hope not, like the guy, but I don't take much of what he says too seriously.
I was moaning about the drop in my range for quite a while now. From my charging history I can estimate that I probably have 52kWh left.
I'd say there was some error in his measurements, even for high mileage.
I've never 100% trust those degredation measurements, there's too many factors at play IMO to make it an accurate measurement
On the plus side, if 9% is the real figure then we'll all be getting replacement batteries in two year time
I'd take battery lifes assessment with a pinch of salt, + it's getting colder now + did he take it out same conditions, temp road etc ? I haven't seen the video yet.
There are apps to monitor the Kwh in the id3.
I would hope battery life to be amazing, my BMW i3 94 Ah is showing absolutely no noticeable loss in range after 4 years 7 months and almost 130,000 kms. Amazing considering it's got a pretty small battery, only 28.5 usable.
The Patara is on the way and I hope my car is on it, it's due Wednesday so might have it next week if lucky if not it will be the last week in September That will make it 6 months since I put the order in last week of April. Disgusted getting it that late in the year.
Mad_Lad, your dealer should be able to tell you definitively at this stage if your car is on or not.
I'll email him now and see what he says.
Ordered in June. Build week was meant to be last week but nothing happened, dealer offered me to collect the car in January for a 221 plate (and keep the same trade in price) which was something! Not hopeful for getting it this year I’ll say that.
Youre a decidedly more patient than I am. You should have to keep chasing him.
If the car is on the boat he should have let you know.
He will know (probably since Friday) if its on the Patara or not. It is a 2 minute check on their system, it will say "Departure Port of Shipment".
Its due to land here on Wednesday morning. Being optimistic, a car on that could be with the dealer early next week, ready for collection by end of next week.
That battery life video is an hour long! Feck that. If I need help going to sleep I’ll put it on.
I got a reply form the dealer a while ago saying nothing confirmed yet, so I'd be sure it's not on that either.
I have been chasing him, not a lot really they can do.
He says nothing confirmed so not a lot I can do except take his word for it.
thats really rotten luck if it’s not on the boat. The chap I dealt with emailed me the morning it went on the boat. Unlike others here I didn’t chase them up very often. He said he’d email me as soon as he had news and that’s what he did.
Unlikely it’s on it so. But it sounds to me that he’s not giving you the full picture. Ask him for a screenshot of the car’s status on their system (NADIN). It’s very clear on there what’s it current status is. E.g. has it even arrived at the port (Emden)? If not, it’s likely still at the factory awaiting parts.
over 1 hr ? no couldn't do that, I wish he gave descriptions to the important bits and the times rather than listening to rambling nonsense.
Too many variables really, same battery temp ? same ambient temp same everything ? I doubt it. + has charging inefficiencies been taken into account ?
What's the Kwh reported by the car itself via app and dongle ?
Only way to know is to run the battery down and charge it up at home, then subtract 10% for inefficiency of charging, note the battery temp then repeat from the same charger % 1 year later.
He will probably have a short version out shortly, but agree, too many variables. Don't think it would pass any Peer reviewed scientific scrutiny..😁
Depends on the dealership, I get the feeling some of them would struggle to find a car in the forecourt 😁
My VIN has just appeared on My Volkswagen. Anyone guess how long I’ll be waiting from now? Thanks.
If I had accepted that there wasn't much my dealer could do then I'd still be waiting.
Your dealer seems to be giving you no info other than "no word yet". As others have said, he should be able to tell you specifically what the situation is. Is it built, is it in the semiconductor queue, is it at the port awaiting transport, on the boat etc.
How does that information get his car here earlier ?
It doesn't.
Been down this road with new VW's a few times and chasing them for that information doesn't make the actual process any quicker. Its really a case of it'll be here when its here.
But it is nice to have some transparency into where exactly the car is, how long its been stuck at that stage, and you might have a much stronger idea of when the car will arrive then. E.g. if Mad_Lad knew with certainty that his car was at the port last week, then he could be very confident it'd be on the Patara right now. Getting "no update yet" type of updates is not an update at all.
It may or may not. Dealers do have some sway to request a priority at certain stages.
But even if it doesn't make a tap of difference, at least he'll know. He has said a few times that if things keep getting delayed he may cancel. If he has a clear picture of the timeline then he can make an informed decision.
In my case the dealer was able to switch me around twice to different cars that were unclaimed in the system and I got my car in mid August. If I'd just sat back waiting and getting a "no change" report, then I'd lose out as the original order has been pushed back to week 48 or so and wouldn't get to me until next year, meaning probably no 0% PCP.
I got my EO Mini Pro installed today. I was looking at setting up the tariff on the app so i can keep track of costs. Is KWh cost the same as a per unit cost? I am with Energia.
Sorry just realized i probably should of posted this in the home charger thread but cant find an option to delete.
Once the deposit is paid that the deal, do your 0% is safe
yes
