Why are you moving to Xbox out of interest ?
I spend most of my limited gaming time on the xbox one/gamepass, Hades and 12 minutes at the moment, Doom 2016 and Eternal before that etc, Overcooked, Fallout etc. Bought the PS5 as I loved all the From Software games but never played Demon Souls on the PS3. Having finished that I never turn on the PS5 (apart from to play the unoptimised Fallout 4), neither do my (young) kids since they exhausted "the robot game". PS5: No games, coil whine!!!, did I mention the coil whine, dodgy controller (I've had to fix sticky buttons several times), the stupid plastic stand. PS5 physical design is the worst of all time in fairness, the little plastic stand is a workaround for some sort of massive design balls-up. The whole thing is cheap and massively expensive. Given CEX will pay me more than I paid for it on day one it's a bit of a no-brainer. The Xbox has GAMES and apparently does not sound like a fridge.

That's all fair enough, Game Pass alone is a massive draw, particularily if you use the upgrade deal to get it ultra cheap.
Just an FYI, the early Series consoles had problems with some of their controllers, a rubber pad would come loose, causing the right trigger to stick a little, as least until the pad moved out of the way completely, at which point the trigger will feel a little bit "clicky". Haven't seen people complain about it in a good while now, so maybe it's been sorted. Just wanted you to know that beforehand, just so you go in eyes open.
I have yet to use the controller that came with my Series S, I just stick to the Elite as I like a controller with a bit of weight to it.
Other than the D Pad being different, is there any other real difference or advantage to using that over the Elite?
Only really the share button, although that's more of a hindrance than anything. I was constantly accidentally hitting it when I used my Series X controller for a while when my Elite was getting repaired.

I have had no issues with my Series X. Dead quiet, simple clean appealing design and great specs. It's the reason I went with a One X vs PS4 pro originally too. But, there are quite a few exclusives I'd like to play on PS. So, maybe I'll get a PS5 slim if that ever appears. I can wait.

A friend of mine is looking for a Series X for his young lad in Limerick, anyone know of any where that has them in stock?
He was told by someone in smyths that it will be near impossible to get one this side of Christmas, don't know how true that is though!
The best bet seems to be the bigger Tesco stores, and Currys/PC World. They don't advertise that they've got them though, so you'll need to visit/call the store directly, and ask if they've got any in stock.
Yep. Totally recommend Smyths. Also maybe keep in contact with your local stores to see when the next drop might be.

I saw on a Twitter feed that GameStop St. Stephens Green have some Series X in stock.

Seems like the series X can currently be reserved in Argos, need to select "Check stock in your area" then pick the local store. I've managed to get a reservation number from Nutgrove.

I'd manage your expectations of actually getting one just because you have a reservation number.
I tried "Check Stock in your area" I was able to reserve for Liffey Valley but then said none in stock when I went to reserve.
I tried a different store, Tallaght, same story. Funnily I got two reservation emails but no reservation number or anything.
Argos are legendary for their 'kind of reserved but not really' trick.
Ah shur we just have to wait and see. I've a Series S at the minute so I'm happy enough to just wait and get one when i get one.

Has there actually been instances of people getting reservation numbers but being let down? I've received a few of those dud confirmation emails without a reservation number but I really thought my luck was in this time.
I also received a text message. I wonder if that's an important factor?
