There's a definite shift in his position this season. He's moving more centrally for some periods of the game with Elliot occupying his previous wide right role. They almost switch positions in possession if the game allows it.

Apparently he did decide to give a red for teh tackle but waited for VAR confirmation in his ear piece.
Incidents like that make it hard to keep watching. Awful for the young lad.

It was his trailing leg that caught him though wasnt it? Seemed a freak occurance more than anything. Struijk looked quite shaken after it

Yea sure he didn't give a free, commentators saying good tackle etc, Klopp on the pitch coupled with the bad injury and ref then decides to give the red card.
You wouldn't be surprised to see that overturned if Leeds bother to appeal it.
I don't see any issue with the height. He'd every right to make that tackle
