I see Eamon Ryan is hitching the Green wagon to the circle. Accepts Coveney is telling the truth. No surprise there.
Jim O'Callaghan is playing havoc on Claire Byrne. Going on about the "omnishambles" caused by FG ministers and the way they operate.
The FF think-in will he tense today.
Are you alleging that Coveney is not telling the truth?
I think somebody who has been called in front of a Committee twice to explain himself and has on the second visit still given rise to questions from members of that committee has difficulty with telling the truth.
He also definitely lied, along with his party leader in interview with Brian Dobson - the reason he was called back to Committee.
The Greens are standing over that. Any comment as a Green supporter?
100% he has told lies. 100%.
Opposition TDs demand more answers from Simon Coveney over Zappone appointment (irishexaminer.com)
Social Democrat TD Gary Gannon has called for Mr Coveney to answer questions in the Dáil next week, saying his responses during the committee were "barely believable".
The minister stated that Ms Zappone did not ask for a job, at any stage and that the idea of her playing a role for the Irish government came about from a short conversation Mr Coveney had with the secretary general on February 24.
Despite text messages showing that Ms Zappone thanked Mr Coveney for the offer on March 4, Mr Coveney said it "wasn’t a job offer at that stage" and he has since conceded he should have replied confirming this.
Mr Gannon pointed out that Mr Coveney claimed he did not speak to Ms Zappone between March and July. However, messages from Ms Zappone show that June had been mentioned as a start date.
"She had a start date for a job she wasn't offered and didn't exist yet," Mr Gannon said.
Barely believable is putting it mildly!!
I think the FG Dictionary calls it 'sloppiness'. 😁
If any of the so called opposition party were in power, we would be locked down still.
Jeez!
🙄
That's an unknown and speculation you are entitled to make.
What we do know is that some sectors would be still in lockdown had it not been for Leo Varadkar's gaffes and coach and four attitude to his own personal responsibilities (Merrion Hotel) and expectations of others (telling the events industry why they couldn't return to normal 'I wouldn't be holding the UK up as a good example' while the tickets for the Mighty Hoopla were burning a hole in his arse pocket)
Varadkar was only one who opposed Nphet last year. The rest was afraid of their own shadow and called for endless lockdown.
We know how that worked out. I wouldn't be singing too high about that one tbh. But again, you are entitled to your opinion.
You too, if you believe that Mary Lou of that imbecile Paul Murphy would do any good for us.
Said it before...I think more or less ALL of them could have dealt with the initial emergency, there really was only one response. The problem was always going to be leading us out of it. With FF, FG and the Greens in disarray and at one another's throats I think I am vindicated in that belief.
Would others have caused the same chaos? I don't think so.
Speaks to the deluded arrogance of Fine Gael. With their top three lads caught lying, engaging in cronyism and Varadkar under criminal investigation, we should not forget their increasingly dismal standings in local and national election. Martin threw them a life line last government formation. They are very lucky to be where they are.
Who are these Utopians you keep saying people believe will fix everything? I believe you are making that up. Is the idea that if others get in and don't fix all the FF/FG damage they'll be failures? I think if they make an effort to reverse much of what FF/FG have done the public will be happy.
Based on the recent mutterings by FG'ers, seems FG are pretty scared IMO.
Leo has been talking out of both sides of his mouth since the early days of covid so he is full of it and not to believed about anything .
Lots of anger and colourful language there.
As I said, if there is a GE in the morning, bring it on.
When did the script change? The other day folk were claiming MLMD wanted "to open all the pubs" ?
Seems like FFG , you aren't all on the same page..
Actually, beside making a mockery of the coalition, allowing these Fine Gael ministers do as they wish will have internal party consequences. I mean what is the point of the party whip when senior members are liars? Good chance FG will crumble under too many Indians not enough credible respect worthy chiefs.
What I say that we are fecked because our so-called opposition is even worse that FFG idiots in power
How, a different take on having the IMF come in, different quangos, different cronyism, more different record breaking crises, more different lies?
Do you remember that time when SF and their cronies gave The Maltese Falcon (Denis O'Brien) another government contract?
Neither do I.
Isn't there a report into the Siteserv fiasco due to be published? Publication was put off repeatedly. Pehaps it might get published in this decade?
Regards...jmcc
It will be published when FG are no longer in power.
There are few other reports that they have buried that should be released.
Last I heard/read about that online was that it was due to be released in October. Suspect the poster that said it'll probably be released only when FG are removed from power, but FF could possibly make great capital from it if they decided to insist it was released in October as its supposed to be.
How many years now has it been delayed?
They want Noonan beyond accountability and any monies well squirrelled away.
If even 10% of the rumours about Noonan are true ,FG will have fun darkening any doors again
There'll likely be a public enquiry into the new Children's Hospital, honestly think they have a big bonfire there with trucks tipping cash onto it
See FGs longterm unionist boyfriend Jeffery is sabre rattling( more butter knife) about the NI protocol, hard one for FG ,all those nights cosying up to wee Jeff or staying on script with Ursula,
