Thanks! What sort of training would you say is best for the PCA? I run but that is pretty much all I do except for walking/hiking
Just continue what your doing. Running, walking etc and you'll be grand. Just go full throttle but take care not to hit any of the obstacles as you'll have to go back and do it again.
Also I would recommend attending the familiarisation day.
Good luck
What is the familiarisation day? Do you get offered to go on this before you do it?
You do indeed. Your able to try out all the different elements of the course, however you cannot complete the course from start to finish or time yourself.
Takes away from the unknown when you have to complete PCA on the main day. Not essential to go, but I would recommend.
If you cannot attend, you get the opportunity to try the different elements on the PCA day too.
As others have said, give her Dixie!
Yeah, i would also strongly recommend u go to the familiarisation session. There are some elements on of the obstacle course that u really need to try yourself a few times in order for you to see how best to approach them on the day in order to optimise your performance.
Not to be dramatic but I think the day my vetting comes back may be the best day of my life. Anyone else on the same boat🤣
How long has yours been away?
2 odd months now- they checked my experian a few weeks ago so thought that meant something
Have you completed all other stages?
Just waiting on a medical date now
I've been waiting nearly 4 months, credit file was checked about 2 months ago 🙈
I was around the 500 mark on the merit list. I have my PCA and online learning complete. Just waiting on a date for my medical now. Vetting had emailed me about a few things I had missed on my form. Only thing worrying me is that I had a couple of defaults a few years back when I was made redundant. Paying them off obviously now, but slightly worried about it.
My mate went in last year and he went through everything pretty quick. It was 5 months between his assessment centre results and him starting GV
Hi guys, just found out today I am appointable! Very happy I was worried about a few things but didn't even need an interview for the vetting.
I am merit list number between 350-360 does anyone know where the merit list has got up to yet?
Cheers
@Deebizzle14 congrats!
the last I remember reading was someone who made it onto the reserves list for the October call was 300-350.
Cheers mate
I'm probably more looking at the new year then. No worries. Don't mind waiting as long as I know I have a place. Do you know how often they are taking people in?
Best of the luck to everyone else going through the process, it's been a long drawn out thing but hopefully nearing a positive end.
Seems to be 30-35 folk every month with the calls going out towards the end of the month.
mate best of luck mate- just got to keep on waiting!
Was your worries down to finances. I have a couple of minor issues I'm worrying about, although I'm wondering if my Vetting has been in progress almost 4 weeks, then surely I'd of heard if it wasn't good news. 😭
Average wait is usually 12 weeks, any issues and it takes longer
Yes mate, I had one default about 5 years ago when I was in uni, just stupid and young had no grasp of finances. I made sure to tell the truth and wrote a paragraph about it in the vetting and they must have understood it's a life lesson. That's my thoughts anyway. I sent my vetting forms away 4 months ago so I wouldn't worry, no news is good news. Wish you best of luck.
Hey!
I'm reserve between 300-350. But there are under 200 appointed so far so it depends on people under you and whether they are appointable.
Every 4 weeks or so 40 called. So it's slow enough
Yeah will probably be the other side of Christmas. Ah well, I've waited this long a little more won't hurt. As long as I get a spot eventually.
Congrats! I am 320-330, and did not get the call at the end of August, so hopeful for a call at the end of Sept. Someone i spoke with, were around 300-ish who got the call. Indeed 30-35 people per intake seems to be the case and lets not forget that within each intake there are some reserves from the previous month, so that might reduce slightly our chances for a call in these last few months. I think there are still quite a few people from the fast-track groups who may be just becoming appointable and for that reason, because they are higher up in the ML, they will get the call first - sorry i don't sound too optimistic there, but at least we have a spot - we will get there. Good luck x
Anyone know what happens after the 600 positions are filled? Do the remaining candidates with higher ML positions get put on a list for future campaigns or is it once the 600 is reached the rest is just removed from merit list and have to apply all over again for next campaign? Thanks in advance.
From what I've seen in recent campaigns they always almost use everybody. You have to remember the cost of vetting and medicals to get us through so don't think they would waste. Also by the time everyone in the list is done I think it's going into next year's budget. Correct me if I'm wrong anybody but I think that's how it works
In the same bracket as you, was hoping to get a pre Xmas start but we shall see
Hey, I have went through all stages got email confirmed I am Fit for the post. I’m between 300-320 on merit list. My question is how long is the wait been for people to go to training. I currently have a higher paid job so the decrease in pay I need to plan for. Any help is welcome.
If I had to guess, potential November start or start of new year. Complete estimate. They aim to run training calls every 4-5 weeks I believe but so many things could change this, especially with Covid.
Same! Praying for a nov start
Vetting passed, finally 🙌
Just PCA and medical to go 🤞
Congrats mate! Go u! X
