He said it was 4.15 base for steers from a big three plant
Was talking to a man tonight that has a Lorry and does a lot of haulage, he has a very quiet week instore he said in regards factory work, usually he would be very busy this time of the year
he said people that would usually be selling now sold the end of June and July as the price was good and they went early even though cattle were lighter
I'm out of cattle now which would be 6 to 8 weeks earlier than usual. Better silage last Winter helped. No meals on grass.
Where your cattle back weight wise since you sold earlier? Would you normally feed meal on grass? I think last year proved to a lot of people the benefits of cutting early silage
Steers 4.15, south east
talking to a friend of mine tonight, he was telling me he rang his agent yesterday at dinner time, he had 14 bullocks to sell, he came first thing this morning 4.15 base
Would say not.
Haven't checked numbers but a guess would be 15 kg dead wt heavier.
Factory agent took a mad bull to the factory for me this evening I asked him the bullock price he said 4.15 on the grid
Heifers going early next week, €4.20 on the grid.
What kind of weight, age etc was he ?
He was 8 years old. No clue of weight. Just wanted him gone. At a guess 800kg. Will post dead weight when I get it.
Any prices for a load of bullocks for next week?
So far I believe they are stand on.
Anywhere from 4.15 to 4. 30 next week into the following week, if you can bargain hard, abp factories anyway.
Fair play if you can get €4.30. €4.15 in 3 factories around me.
It'll be end of next week before bigger price may happen going by agent, if at all.
For the full load, the op has, there should be room to squeeze 4.20 atm, well in the top half of the country anyway.
Tho covid is still rearing its head in one local factory here, which will reduce kill somewhat.
Bargain like hell, is all I can say.
4.30 for bullocks?
Heifers anyway, with the bullocks fairly close.
Heavy bullocks selling really well in Gortnalea at present, looking at a base of 4.2 as they stand and none can be hung before Monday. Some of them.might not be hung until Tuesday depending on a factory opening
Have I any hope of 4.20 with friesians?
Not a hope in hell I would think 🤔
If there are some under 30 months and hardly any over 36 months I cannot see why not. Factories are not fussy as long as cattle have flesh. I notice lately if Friesians are well fleshed FS3+ they grade O-/=. They would probably want to be on ration for 8+ weeks and on good grass.
With Friesians generally its not the base but the grid that can be your enemy. Getting FR up to O- leaves you 12c/ kg off the base and usually you have good weight as well. A base of 4.2 gives you 4.22 for O= and 4.08 or O- Friesians. Lately when tight for cattle they will flat rate P's 6-10c/kg below that.
Last load going this week, rang agent, they are a bit of a mix few heifers as well.
Agent said he will lift them Wednesday morning, has to confirm with me on Monday.
But said bullocks minimum 4.20 and heifers 4.25.
89 months 467kg dead weight r3
What was the price 3.2/kg??
No. A lot less but I knew beforehand it was ****. But he was a danger around the place, anything I got for him was a bonus
Same as that, just sent off a smashing heifer that was earmarked as a replacement, was incalf a few weeks to AI but just had gone too excitable around the place
What live weight would ye reckon he was. He got no meal
850-880 kgs at a guess
What breed was he? Sorry if you stated b4. too lazy to scan back
