I’m sure they are conjuring up a new one about Afghanistan at the moment. It takes quite a while to perfect the 3 word description, and so we may have to wait.
Looked at some conspiracy forums to see what the latest circus or "flavor of the month" was. Pretty quiet at the moment. They seem to have run out of puff for the Covid conspiracies and Great Reset for now, it's mostly just the usual anti-vax stuff. 9/11 anniversary coming up, will be some nonsense about that I am sure.
Still a few hours left in August. Trump might return.
I see that the depopulation plan is going well...
This must be devestatig news for the loons
Taoiseach confirms reopening plan as Covid-19 restrictions lifted by October 22
https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/an-important-step-forward-taoiseach-confirms-reopening-plan-as-covid-19-restrictions-lifted-by-october-22-40806003.html
Come next pandemic or major event we'll be hearing the same stuff again and how all the conspiracy theorists who were claiming it this time were all just gullible dupes/disinfo agents.
Nothing will be learned.
I'm sure they'll just continue to modify it. Milk it for everything it's worth. Some restrictions will remain, so obviously that means the "1984 totalitarian plan is still active".
Interesting how after all the tantrums, failed predictions, and conspiracies that never materialised not one poster has admitted they were wrong.
Well Im seeing "Hurricane Ida" is fake now. Like, the hurricane. The hurricane isnt real.
My money's on an increase in claims about weather control/enivormental disasters being faked as global warming starts to having more effects.
Looks like Reddit has banned the main Covid disinformation subreddit and quarantined dozens of others after many user subreddits "went dark" to protest the level of disinfo on the site.
Seems Covid conspiracy theorists and deniers are having a problem with this whole "free speech" concept, on the one hand they keep abusing it to spread medical disinformation, on the other they keep contradicting the notion to create safe spaces where they can ban anyone who disagrees with them
Essentially: "It's my right to spread lies by creating echo chambers where those lies can't be challenged"
But masks to remain indefinitely in shops, on public transport, on aeroplanes, in hospitals. Plus the expansion of the vaccine passport to other areas of life.
But you keep failing to explain why the conspiracy wants this. You run away and hide each time you are asked.
You've shown beyond any doubt you have no answer to this, so the only conclusion is that there is no conspiracy behind masks of vaccine passports.
It's pathetic.
After all the claims the only thing you think is going to be permanent is masks.
"the only thing you think is going to be permanent is masks"
Which they won't be, ok maybe hospitals and public transport for another while but that's it and no one should have an issue with that.
And how are they going to enforce that in Ireland?
Are they going to hire people to patrol busses to make sure everyone's masked? Tell the Garda to do it? The bus drivers?
Why would they spend the money?
We've not once heard why anyone wants masks to be permanent beyond they really stupid suggestion that "they want to remind people there's a pandemic."
Gortanna has gone from claiming that this was the start of global Satanic CyborgCommunism to claiming that people are just going to be asked politely to wear masks more often.
That's how desperate the conspiracy theory has gotten.
Lies
Yup, it's the same here in England now, people still wear masks in public transport but otherwise (shops) its a personl choice, I still wear mine when I go shopping but some don't and no one is being hauled away by the mask police.
Another silly theory debunked, can't wait for the next one to come along 😁
gov.ie - Public health measures that will come into place in October (www.gov.ie)
Measures that will remain in place include:
No end date given.
How is that comparable with Ireland? In Ireland they will continue to be required by law. In England they're not required by law (public transport in London is a bit of a grey area).
And even the 22nd of October depends on case numbers: "Removal of most other restrictions, moving to model of personal responsibility, with October 22nd earmarked for lifting of remaining restrictions depending on infection rates." (Almost all Covid-19 restrictions to be lifted by October 22nd under Government plan (irishtimes.com)
So no guarantees.
So you assume they are permanent. There was no end date given to niteclubs being closed until earlier this week, but the restriction is ending next month. How do you explain that?
In all honesty, wearing masks in healthcare settings is a very good idea. Why spread more disease to already sick people, and why not lower the risk of healthcare professionals catching something?
look at the thread title that you are posting in.
the EVIDENCE from across the border is that mask wearing will certainly not become permanent.
Let's focus on this:
"No end date given."
Do you think that means permanent enforcement? It hasn't been the case for all other measures which had no end date, why would this be different?
I think we'll see an end date to required mask wearing before next spring.
Do you think it will go beyond that to next summer?
Let's break down what you're trying to imply here. Start with the basics, and then see if that builds up to a credible conspiracy of some sort.
And I think voluntary mask wearing will become the norm now in crowded transport settings and hospitals (arguments that it should always have been the case in hospitals, but we could barely get doctors to wash their hands before), nobody gives a cr*p about your feelings about it, they'll just move on with their lives and get sick less often.
It's comparable because Ireland is taking the same route that England took only a little slower, while they are no longer required by law on PT in England now they were required when restrictions were first eased.
"And even the 22nd of October depends on case numbers"
And again, same as England, if things look good then restrictions get eased further, it's really not rocket science you know.
Can you explain why the government would want to keep mask wearing permanent? It's been asked of you several times but you always never answer this one simple question.
Yes, but you said what I wrote was lies. It's true to say that they will remain mandatory indefinitely in retail, on aeroplanes, on public transport, and in healthcare settings in Ireland because no end date has been given. All we've heard is 'until at least Spring': Wear masks until spring, urges Nphet | Ireland | The Sunday Times (thetimes.co.uk)
And it's not even that clear what the story will be with masks after the 22nd of October. They will no longer be mandatory outdoors (even though they never were) and in indoor private settings: gov.ie - Speech by the Taoiseach Micheál Martin - COVID-19: Reframing the Challenge, Continuing our Recovery and Reconnecting (www.gov.ie)
So that's very vague. And even then Mícheál Martin only said that "we then hope to be in a position to remove the following measures".
Best thing to do is to wait and see what happens in October.
ah... so youre saying these ARENT permanent measures.
thats great then, we're all on the same page
The reason I mentioned that here was no end date given was to show that they will be mandatory indefinitely in shops, on public transport and in healthcare settings.
And the criteria for removing restrictions are very strict:
"The National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) recommended that the relaxations could take place only when five criteria had been met, ranging from achieving 90 per cent uptake of vaccination among people aged 16 and over, through to the absence of a new virus variant of concern.
They include broad – and challenging – markers to be hit, including that the incidence, reproduction number, growth rate, impact and progression of infection “give confidence that we can suppress the infection sufficiently to minimise the harm of the disease”. Hospital and ICU capacity should be “reducing and/or reduced to low levels to protect the health service”, while public-health capacities such as contact tracing should be “sufficiently robust” to enable outbreaks to be rapidly identified and investigated.
The vagueness of these criteria has raised eyebrows in Government: when can you say there’s “confidence” infections can be suppressed? What exactly are “low levels” of pressure on hospitals? How do you define a “sufficiently robust” public-health capacity?"
Holohan letter leaves question mark over achievability of goals (irishtimes.com)
It will be extremely difficult to meet those criteria.
But England had a freedom day and everything went. It is not known when masks will no longer be required on public transport, in shops, on aeroplanes, and in healthcare settings in Ireland. In England people knew that on a particular date they would no longer be required, but people could continue to choose to wear them. They are still mandatory in healthcare settings in England, as far as I am aware.
Are England continuing to focus on case numbers? If they were then would they not have reintroduced restrictions considering there are still a lot of cases every day there? From what I've read they have accepted that there will continue to high case numbers, but that they are confident in the vaccine(s).
II don't know whether they're going to be permanent, but if they don't go post-vaccination then I don't see when they ever go.
@Gortanna Didn't you say earlier that this thread was about Ireland only? What's with the obsession with England now (no mention of the rest of the UK)? 😂
Are these criteria substantially different to those that allowed other restrictions to lift? If so, how different.
Do you see mandatory mask wearing in place next summer? Are you still worried by "no end date" even though everything else with no end date actually ended? Why would masks be different? Try and be specific rather than vague.
"Are England continuing to focus on case numbers? If they were then would they not have reintroduced restrictions considering there are still a lot of cases every day there? From what I've read they have accepted that there will continue to high case numbers, but that they are confident in the vaccine(s)"
Case numbers don't matter, you could have 1000 cases a day or 100,000 cases a day and it wouldn't make a difference.
Hospitalisation and deaths are what matter, too many being admitted to hospital would overwhelm the system (as it almost did eighteen months ago) so while they do monitor case numbers they are not the most important part.
Why would masks be kept post covid? What (in your opinion) would be the benefit of making people wear masks?
But again, you can't explain why they would want them to be permanent.
You've admited this.
So if you can't think of a reason for why they might be permanent, you agree they aren't going to be permanent. QED.
You can't even explain what they issue is with wearing them.
