I’ve been to 3 intermediate hurling and 2 junior A football matches this year and haven’t seen anything as inept in any game as whatever Kerry were at for the disallowed goal
It's another reason for timing to be taken out of the refs hands.
I just watched the "Spillane rant" for the first time there and Cavanagh walked him into it, coming out with the victim complex from the very first words on the show.
Surprised at the level of kerrys conditioning as the game wore on. They were gassed, seems to be a reoccurring theme even under Fitzmaurice. I remember them being gassed in a few semis v the dubs.
The level of punditry on RTÉ has really declined. Even brolly was better than this. Cavanagh and spillane are poor, you'd deserve better from paying tax payers money
Yeah I couldn't figure out if he was really injured or not. I know he was temporarily taken off but was back on soon enough after again.
I was hoping Whelan would revert to his old playing days and lamp both of them and then throw the gob on Cantwell to shut her up.
What was wrong with Oisin McConville or didn't they want an Armagh man commenting on a Tyrone Match.
Hope to god he is back for final and not insipit Donnie or worse still McStay who I think has really gone off the boil and is so worried about being seen as biased like the lads that it affects him.
Hope to god most of them, like certain poster around here, aren't heard from again this year.
As for the match, I think this Kerry team seems to be suffering from the arrogance that afflicts a lot of their fans.
They wrote Cork off last year and this year they didn't seem to expect a real fight from Tyrone.
Maybe they are soft, maybe they are a team that looks great playing weak opposition, but can't get down and do the graft when it's needed?
They have some fantastic players, but holy sh** they really fooked up yesterday making serious of wrong decisions.
And for Tyrone, anyone would be a fool to write off a team with likes of Donnelly, McShane, McNamee.
And as for covid effects, they played with 14 players for good chunk of match.
And yes it was only about 15 minutes because half of the second black card was taken up with time for an injury, but still good going to shore up for that amount of time.
Anyway I would say the biggest casualty of yesterday is Peter Keane, the knives are out for him now.

I've deleted a few posts as they are off topic.
Politics and sport are for a different thread or Forum.
No more posts about 1921 etc in here thank you.
The gaa know the game is in serious trouble so it suits everyone including the Dubs to opt-out.
i think that was probably the worst team Mayo fielded in recent years.
It be interesting to see what happens in 2022 as the gaa is in trouble at inter-county level.
Its a pity really but bad decisions principally with funded created the gaa monster...
Very unfair on Can't well IMO knowledgeable on the game, excellent mediator which is an important part of presenting. Directs the panel well posing questions. A misunderstood skill for many who do not understand the nuances of TV presenting. She is articulate as well, and has a nice flow. Also she was a very good player in her own right, she was an up and coming star in her day. Loves the game still plays intermediate.
I get the impression that most of the negative critism directed at Cantwell is
1) Because she is female
2) From Dublin
It is mostly because she is female, however added that she is also from Dublin does not sit well with a certain GAA traditional and rural demographic.
1) Covid in Tyrone
2) Kerry forwards
3) Kerry's league form
4) Kerry's tradition and then number of people who backed them because of it
She’s just not a very good presenter, though her hands are a bit tied by this new “safe space” RTE under McBennett.
Retired Dublin. Have you heard Bernard Brogan on tv3? Systems, rugby talk. Bland as hell,
Are you Codding me on Mayo in my opinion this is the best overall squad Mayo have ever had. Plus best manager in terms of managerial experience and tactical nous in in Horan. He has completely rebuilt the team in a couple of years. IMO it is the best chance Mayo have had for winning Sam in my lifetime. In overall squad I think they are better than Tyrone, plus the Mayo sideline is superior.
Spillane was right, you think if you had covid ( I did) youd be someway wrecked after it
Not so sure , I was flying prior to the vaccine , serious fitness regime high VO2 etc, got vaccinated and now I’m tired and off the wagon
maybe the real deal would have suited me better?
I'm on about getting vaccinated and then getting covid
Were you vaccinated before you had it?
It can be a rare event, Spillane being right and he is clearly wrong. People react to Covid in different ways. A-Symptomatic people-never even know they had it as they felt fine. Some might have a slight cold effect for a day or two. Some have flu like symptoms for 3 or 4 days but are perfect then etc believing Tyrone players should be wrecked is complete nonsense.
In fact, it was Kerry players who were wrecked. Several going down with cramp and actually being subbed off through cramp. What was their excuse?
As mentioned, some are sicker after actually getting the vaccine. I wouldn't put much credence into what Spillane says personally.
You've a long track record of "getting impressions" based solely on your own viewpoint rather than actual proof so I wouldnt worry too much about it.
Would the GAA not have gone looking for medical records anyways?
I enjoyed that game and well done to Tyrone - completely written off before the game.
Not throwing grenades here, but curious.. Would HQ have to have see evidence of positive covid tests from the Tyrone team before allowing the date change. Anyone know the process there?
Mayo have physicality and accurate forwards. Tyrone the same but they have a lot of athletes, speed and guile.. neither team amassed serious scores on their run to the final.
i can’t help but think that unlike previous years, the referee from minute one could have a huge say in the destination of Sam... he sets the tone and applies the rules honestly accurately and consistently from the outset, I’d back Tyrone.. he cannot let anything go, if it becomes a very ‘physical’ contest and the referee enables a fouling and unsporting shîtshow again which let’s hope it and he doesn’t btw, it will be a tough watch for the neutral, t hough I think Mayo will have the physical advantage and the ‘nous’ to manipulate the referee again..certainly...let’s hope he doesn’t come down with a bad dose of ‘Lane brain’ and it’s a fair contest...
Needs to be consistent from the off... if X challenge is a yellow card in the 53rd minute it’s the same in the 3rd minute....
Seriously? I think you may need to talk to someone. PTSD can have a major effect on people
have you anything to add to the discussion, debate or disagree with what is being said, a counter opinion, anything of value or just ...errr that ^^^ :)
O think Mayo V Tyrone will be intriguing contest. Kerry fault yesterday was they tried too hard to create goals, did not takes there points especially in the first half, allowed themselves to be turned over and Tyrone scored on the counterattack.
Mayo will not make that mistake so it will probably be a thought cat and mouse game. IMO Mayo have the the advantage in personnel but it is on a micro edge. They will be willing to allow Tribe onto them and attack fast after turnovers. As well like Kerry Mayo will have the stronger midfield.
The question is if Mayo get into a winning position will they find a way to lose the game like a number of other finals
I'm serious. You seem fixated on some sort of injustice that happened to Dublin. They were beaten fair and square by a better Mayo team. You seem to see nothing but bogeymen in the referees decisions or some Machiavellian plot by Mayo to cheat ye out of your rightful place in the final. It's Mayo v Tyrone. Move on
:) I was speaking about the upcoming final, so very much moved on, the importance of the referee from the ball being thrown in to the final whistle and being of the ability to blow the whistle on those Mayo tactics that Lane was unable to... simple really, most people want to see football, a flowing game where the skillsets of both teams are to the fore, to be entertained and enthralled ..unfortunately how Mayo play, hmmm....it’s quite appropriate that the referee and his team will be watched this year more then others, under a deal of scrutiny I’d say... all very well one man having had a bizarre and incompetent off day, we don’t want to see a repeat... hopefully lessons have been learned :)
Spillane was a utter disgrace yesterday. He has won more All Ireland’s than most teams and yet acted like a spoilt child yesterday.
Delighted for him as his arrogance all year about Kerry was shown up.
2 of them in it yesterday. Cavanagh was looking for a row from the time the theme tune was over.
