Again context completely lost on you. I am surprised I would have thought a man like yourself would have greater appreciation of the result. You only have to listen to Pat and Sean and think of the massive COVID disruption for Tyrone. Plus the fact Kerry were/are viewed as the heir apparent by most. Context. Plus as Sean said Tyrone have beaten no1 of note since 2008 context. It is not as simple as ulster champs beating Munster champs that is only the cursory look. Look deeper.
Lost 4 close ones. Tyrone got to one... beaten out the gate.
How would a semi final be Mayo's final when they get to so many finals?? Rubbish. They ran the greatest team of all time so close... That was Tyrone's first win over a big team since 2008!!
I thought Spillane's rant showed him up big time. It was fairly pathetic in fairness.
He actually looked like a fella who was on the short road to a heart attack.
Not cocky at all. 50/50. But think Mayo have a better chance than against Kerry, given the history of that fixture.
TBH two average teams today.
Don't think they did. Mayo have a good record against Kerry over the last few years. The way the season panned out worked against them. No super eights meant they had no test and a 5 week break coming into today. They still nearly won though and i wouldn't right them off going forward. I suggest they get donie Buckley back to killarney and put a chain on him. Well Done Tyrone, great summer for them, but hopefully the party's over in two weeks.
Personally i think the Dubs threw the semi... the best team in the country could only score 2 points in an hour of football after a brilliant 1st half...
Cannot figure that one out...
Today football rubbish apart from 5 min spell by Kerry in ET....
For the first time ever I genuinely think Mayo will end their famine. Tyrone while dogged are not a great outfit and the Mayo defense is much meaner than the Kerry one. Mayo could potentially just run them into the ground as they're a much fitter outfit and they will give Morgan nightmares with their high press.
But you post did say that was Tyrones final, there were 4 average teams in the semis. Poor quality from all.
Was kind of neutral don't really like Tyrone over the years a lot gamesmanship and I do think they messed around with the Covid thing but Kerry getting beaten I feel leaves things open enough over the next year or so .Whoever wins the final I don't think they will dominate like Kerry might have .
I certainly agree with the overhype about Kerry... the story coming from certain quarters suggested they’d be ready to take Sam this year and on a run for a couple.
Would think Mayo had the beating of either team today. But Tyrone are masters of tailoring their game to what is in front of them.
Very open final as a result.
I really hope Mayo win and break the hoodoo. Their fans however should refrain from the begging-up of the team and stay as quiet as possible. I actually think Tyrone would have beaten which ever team won today. I think Tyrone will be more dogged than Kerry would have been too.
Jaysus are you still whinging? Your posts are nonsensical, why don't you take a break and let the rest of us enjoy the next couple weeks.
The good thing Ariel we'll all agree on is that Kerry and Dublin aren't in the final. Novelty.
No idea who’s gonna win it from here. Mayo, traditionally nice going forward but added a nasty enough streak last week (in a good way), while Tyrone won’t be beaten easily and also found a way to run up a decent score today. Their fitness was unreal today too, fully expected to see a few players blowing after 40/50mins but the only ones in trouble were Kerry with cramp.
Not surprising in the end, despite both games going to ET, that the finalists have came from the 1 and a half proper provincial championships. Kerry and Dublin won’t benefit in future from stat padding their provinces (last years freak result aside) while Mayo at least get one good game in Connacht and the Ulster championship is another story.
Mayo are odds in favourites to win the final. I don't think that will sit easy with them.
If it turns into a low scoring dogfight, especially if conditions are bad, I know where my money will be going.
Looks difficult to call with any real confidence Mayo got by a very poor Dublin performance just and Tyrone beat a poor Kerry effort Mayo are in great condition and will last however long the game goes on for Tyrone lasted very well today despite the 'Covid ' in the camp .Its a real novel pairing and should be good to watch .
Delighted for Tyrone. There was nothing in it. Could have went either way. It should be some final between them and Mayo.
Huh?
People saying "wish it was us who beat them" is FAR from taking credit for another team's win.
No more than saying "wish I won the Lotto" is claiming credit for getting all the numbers.
There's a little over hype about Tyrone on here. They've beaten a top team for the first time since 2008!
They're not a patch on Tyrone 2003-08. They are solid and workmanlike and have a 50% chance of winning an all Ireland, but they're nothing special. It's not Limerick hurlers.
That Kerry team is callow, and proven to be. Tyrone nearly blew a few leads today. What Paudie Clifford did playing the ball to a man in the square when he only needed to step left and roll it in with his left sums up Kerry. They still play like boys. 2 years have gone since they drew with Dublin in the AI and on the evidence of the past two years they're going backwards.
Kerry at present are flat track bullies for minnows. Put heat on them and they are seriously ordinary.
50/50 all Ireland. Good luck to both teams.
I'm only guessing but I'd say you're from Galway 😉
Nope, Kerry.
I hope Mayo win but Tyrone are masters of game management.
I'm glad to see no one is questioning Tyrone and covid and whether they used it as a story to get injured players back .I actually believe it was the case... incredible hunger and desire by Tyrone today
I think the whole country is questioning Tyrone and Covid
Apart from Spillane.
Clifford really needs to mind himself more physically.
He could easily find himself with in a Michael Meehan situation.
Could go either way.
It's a disappointing evening for Kerry, bit of an understatement. The sum of the parts is not equalling the total. Something missing? Did the better defenders of the 5 in a row go to Australia etc?
Personally I think Geaney, Moran and Stephen O'Brien are too predictable and easily marked. Tom O'Sullivan had a great game.
That Dublin defeat was coming no shock to Dub fans to be honest. Look up the match reports of the Wexford, Meath, and Kildare games - Dublin played in.
In particular the Meath one - Dublin were 11 up at HT and damn lucky to win in the end. Against Wexford, Dublin laboured. And against Kildare the only time a Kildare player D.Flynn ran at Dublin it was a goal. Dublin severely lack pace and directness now.
Unfortunately, I hit the nail on the head. It was clear to see for anyone looking at it objectively
His 'weak Munster' excuse was really clutching at straws that bit annoyed me a bit and Cavanagh as well.
Because a weak Leinster was never an excuse used by Dublin for example. I honesty feel Spillane was in shock. Similar to someone having witnessed a traumatic experience.
