Once the penalty is given it has to be a red. It’s literally the law. Handball is not a genuine attempt to play the ball so double jeopardy doesn’t apply.

But once the ball comes up to arm level he shunts his arm out to push the ball out! Whether intentional movement or not that second movement stopped it crossing the line. Red for me.
If a player blocks a shot with his leg and it bounces onto his arm it's a penalty AND a red card now. Games gone to shyte.
