Hi all, my Speedmaster ref.3810.12.40 has completely stopped running, it had an €800.00 service in 2018 and was working perfectly and then just stopped one day. Can anyone recommend somewhere in Ireland that can look at it or do all jewellers send them away for repair?
ichrono.ie in Dublin
Who charged 800 last time?
Was there crystal replaced or bezel as part of the service that it was so expensive?
It was sent to Omega by Kneizels in Waterford, I’m not sure what was done I purchased it last year and just have the receipts. The bezel is definitely original and I’d say the crystal is as well.
Is that Hesalite ?should have the omega symbol at the center if hesalite and original
That's the piggyback movement with the ETA 2892-A2 and Dubois-Dépraz 2020 chrono module.
As such, it isn't a very complex movement base, so any independent should be able to look at it. Apparently they are not that hard to work on, compared to something like the 1861.
Or so I have read on various forums - I think the main point is a good independent should be fine.
Good reference here:
If it’s the piggyback move to aka like on the “speedmaster reduced “ then they are know to have a lot of problems. Easier and cheaper often to replace movement than fix.
I had one that the previous owner had serviced due to an issue. I returned it twice with issues during the warranty period that was still valid under my ownership luckily enough. They replaced the movement for a finish.
And sold it as not worth the hassle.
Yes it’s got the Omega logo in the centre
I just sent mine by courier to Switzerland . I got the address on line I think.
watchfix.ie serviced my omega moonwatch recently. I'd recommend (they are ichrono for sales i believe)
i always prefer to send them direct to omega myself rather than use a local ad
Similar here, planet ocean (non-chrono)
Omega estimate €500
Is the recommendation watchfix.ie? Is that open at weekends? Getting into town M-F is difficult.
I have had good experiences with Watchfix. John brerton will also service
Watchfix will accept via post and post back
Will they pay the postage when you have to return a second time as they didn’t do it right the first time?
They will in fairness. Sorted issue same day
I was just joking as I see you had issue on TZ. I had multiple returns with an Omega through an AD under warranty. QC is often optional or seems.
Yeah was strange issue. Had to adjust a wheel or something but turned it around quick. Selling so want to make sure it’s right for new buyer. They also said they’d stand over the service for the new buyer as well which is reassuring for the buyer
I emailed Watchfix to enquire about a service for my Breitling Aerospace - he's not taking any work at present....glad he's busy, but wish he could have looked at mine. I've emailed Breretons - any other recommendations....?
Just got my emergency back from Breitling U.K. with a turn around of 5 weeks
What model of Aerospace?
It's the F65062....
@OmegaGene Was it reasonably priced? Thanks
£600 for the emergency
this might help
I have the F75362, externally very similar.
They did know how to charge!
They were charging me €320 to have a watch returned & repaired which was almost the price of the watch!
I got it repaired in Keanes of Cork for a fraction of the price!
