Its mentioned on another forum about them starting it. Hopefully not true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,917 ✭✭✭john boye

If there was any truth then they'd surely go straight after the cream on the Dublin and Cork routes rather than Shannon?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 4,423 Mod ✭✭✭✭Locker10a

Would they even reap the full benefits without offering connections with other carriers.

    Never say never though...

I always assumed Heathrow was far too expensive for Ryanair to operate from and if they were to, it would only be on major routes but perhaps the pandemic has changed things. Probably not though I'd say.

The slot allocations would be known before any announcement, if it is to happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,737 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

Its all made up, all slot sales/trades have to be recorded here https://www.acl-uk.org/completed-slot-trades/?toAirline=Ryanair and while IAG/Aer Lingus have swapped around slots at LGW with FR there is nothing on file for LHR

    1. IAG own T5 effectively and only a handful of gates are CTA enabled, this is kind of important given the security measures at LHR for CTA, so no go
    2. Same goes for T2 only the gates EI use are CTA enabled
    3. Aer Lingus will fly from Shannon while Cork runway is closed

Any ideas why Aer Lingus operated a Tallinn flight today? I’m guessing it’s a charter with the flight number EI4393 but it’s not often we see them in any of the Baltic states.

Shamrock Rovers played Flora Tallinn in Tallinn earlier today so likely the team on board.

Cool, thanks! Looks like EI-DES was tasked with the mission yesterday and is doing the return this evening.

Today Ei-EDY operated DUB-STR-DUB-ATL, cargo flight EI9071 currently on its way to Atlanta.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,737 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

More car parts, EI have been intermittently running out of MUC/STR via Dublin

Read in the paper the states could potentially open up to fully vaccinated passengers in the next 2 weeks, also mentioned SFO returns on the 7th October.

G-EILA operated its first flight under the UK reg with the call sign Green Flight. Looks like It did a go around in Dublin and then runway change.

I wonder if they’ll bother to get that engine repainted, or even give the aircraft a wash before it’s debut in Manchester? It (along with EI-EDY) looks pretty grubby in recent images.

I’m intrigued if the Manchester operation will go ahead at the current date planned or will be further pushed back, I can see the Barbados going but the US routes aren’t looking great with the US still closed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,353 ✭✭✭basill

The US isn't closed. Loads out of Dublin are strong so I can't see why MAN wouldn't have the same pent up demand from people that tick all the right boxes to get stateside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,737 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

EI's MAN operation was effectively a dead end until recently

    1. If you are not a US citizen (or have the approval of the US) you cannot fly
    2. As EI didn't have its UK AOC it could not sell tickets to US origin traffic, they got this recently, hence the test flights under the AOC

So they can now sell tickets to all comers but are still blocked from half the market as US won't allow EU+UK passengers who are not US citizens, but do allow travel from a whole pile of places with much worse COVID situations

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 410 ✭✭Shamrockj

It is for anyone that isn’t a US citizen or exempt from the ban. You still to this day can’t book US to Manchester direction and the Orlando route is relying on inbound tourists it’s the wrong direction currently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,406 ✭✭✭kevinandrew

The only problem is, while they have supposedly received permission to sell to US customers, they still haven’t opened reservations! Either there’s more issues to iron out with authorities or it’s pure incompetence by Aer Lingus.

If you attempt to book a flight to Manchester from the US, all that will be offered is flights via Dublin. If you try from Manchester, the flights are available but a disclaimer appears explaining flights are still only available to UK originating passengers.

So Aer Lingus UK is still essentially blocked from selling flights out of Manchester to anyone who can actually make use of them; UK originating passengers are blocked from entering without prior authorisation, and the US originating passengers are blocked because of government red tape or an Aer Lingus mistake.

Manchester to JFK delayed until the 1st of December and Orlando delayed until the 11th of December. Manchester to Barbados is going ahead on the 20th of October.

Looks like G-EILA has actually been given a wash and some replacement engine cowlings.

Shame the US routes have been pushed back even further, hopefully Barbados goes ahead as planned. It's currently on the UK green list but is at risk of going amber.

Has EI-LRH been registered for Aer Lingus UK? There is a picture on Flickr of it and it looks to have EI-LRH covering its UK reg.

Nothing reliable about the status of the US travel ban, there had been suggestion in some online sources that they might lift it in September. (Labour Day or during UN week)

looks to me like EI got the word that it isn’t being lifted until the end of November.

Its saying i have to be around longer to post links. If you search EI-LRH in flickr and its the latest picture.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,647 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

You may be correct -comparison with older images suggests the Irish registration is now slightly further aft than it was originally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,406 ✭✭✭kevinandrew

Probably next to be moved across.

The aircraft earmarked for Aer Lingus UK are:

    EI-ELA // G-EILA (already transferred)

EI-EDY // G-EIDY (in service with Aer Lingus)

EI-LRG // G-EIRG (in service with Aer Lingus)

    EI-LRH // G-EIRH (stored, temporary registration)

Not sure if they require all them for the initial schedule, maybe just the two A330s (BGI, MCO) and one A321LR (JFK) for the winter until BOS starts next summer when the second A321LR is required??
