Guinness are launching a nitro surger here soon, 568ml cans with an ultrasonic surger that attaches to the top of the can. The surger has a tap so you pour through it while it's on the can. Looks cool. Approx. 25 quid for the surger when it launches in a few weeks.
Link?
No link, a diageo rep just showed me a video of it at work. I remembered a lot of interest on this thread so I posted about it.
Can some kind soul recommend a surger/cleaning unit that is big enough to take any sort of pint glass, please? I have one, but it's thin so only takes one type of glass (which is very hard to get). I have looked on Amazon UK and DE, but they don't give any measurements. Thanks in advance! 😁
I’m guessing this is to do with the launch of Guinness 0:0.
id fully expect them to bring out a whole range of product which would use it.
Just one at the moment, regular Guinness in a 568ml can, no widget in the can though so you need to buy the surger! You are probably right though, if it does well the range will likely be expanded rapidly.

From looking at that can, its 440ml. That would be shite if so..
Certainly seems to be the case:
Maybe its just the promo stuff for the UK. Their cans are 440ml. It doesnt necessarily mean they'll be 440 here too.
Hopefully not for here at that size.
The video I saw showed different cans, 568ml. Different colour and graphics on the cans too.
Excellent, that's is good to hear. It wouldn't be worth it otherwise.
Where are we going to find a slab of these? Specialist off-licences or supermarkets?
Are you sure you're not getting your cans mixed up? 568ml sounds awfully big for a home can of Guinness. The other 'Surger' cans that I'm currently using (the ones sourced north of the border) are only 520ml and they fill a pint glass just about right.
I think the new alcohol free Guinness 0.0 cans served in the pubs might be 568ml whereas the store bought are only 500ml and fill a 500ml glass perfectly.
I could be wrong but I don't think these new 'Nitrosurge' cans are intended for the UK market as they already have the 520ml equivalent.
Granted, 440ml is a joke! What sort of glass would you even use for them? No Guinness drinker wants to see a big gap at the top of their glass before that first mouthful.
I've got a Grundig UC5620 from Amazon DE, costs about 40€. Watch a YouTube of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M21411kwJRQ
A 440ml glass?
I've never seen a 440ml glass! But then again, I live a very sheltered life 😀.
I read they will be available nationwide towards the end of September. I guess that means every Off Licence and Supermarket.
I see it is also on Facebook but I can't view the link as I don't have an account, but the can in the thumbnail looks bigger than 440ml, although admittedly hard to tell

Practically every craft beer can in the offo these days is 440ml, pretty common. Its a great size pour IMO, though might be a bit small for something as easy drinking as Guinness.
Press launch is tomorrow. All questions shall be answered.
Had to check it wasn’t April 1st when I saw the device on the can.
does something like this allow Guinness to start selling 5 litre mini kegs for the home.
I hear the cans are going to be very expensive. Like 2.50 to 3 euro expensive! Let's see what comes out of the press update today so.
Might not be such a big deal when MUP comes.
Thanks very much! I've ordered one so looking forward to delivery! 😁
assuming it's the same beer in the can I don't see the point TBH. The regular draught cans are pretty good when you just tip them straight into the glass.
nevertheless I've entered the competition [insert pacman emoji here]
Seems to me that the temporary closure of pubs has shown that the Guinness-drinking public has something of an appetite for gimmickry. It would be remiss not to try and sell them something new off the back of it.
Its Guinness, marketing is the point. There is a huge appetite for all this bullshit in their core market. So many ways to repackage the same beer.
True, maybe they could try something loads of craft breweries do and just **** and old random ingredient and flog it as some miraculous nectar flowing direct from the mind of geniuses. Coffee and Sherbet Guinness IPA. Everyone will lap it up.
At least their might be a bit of flavour to it then I suppose
