I'd say in the winter you should see 250miles (400kms) just judging by my 58kWh. Depends how hot you like the car and if you preheat. But as you well know EVs don't like motorways in the winter. I'm not slow but I try to drive fairly smoothly.
How do you find the power, ride comfort and handling compared to the 58kWh you tested?
For me it’s not quite as quick and a tiny bit firmer suspension. But it’s all good. It’s all about the range for me so I’m hoping it will come up trumps for that. 260 km commute 2-3 days a week starting soon ( unfortunately). I’m hoping the car will be good for it even in depths of winter.
We have a similar range commute starting! I am waiting on my Family 58Kwh, interested in your experiences with range. I will have destination slow charging and three potential 50Kw ESB public charge points near by /en route.
I would be happy enough doing that in my 58kWh, but not much reserve in the coldest weather. But I wouldn't be at motorway speeds for about half
I reckon I'll drop as low as 200 miles in winter and average 250 in summer.
I haven't noticed much of a drop in power, maybe that's because I've been driving a crappy old diesel for the last month. I do drive in sport though.
The car has settled itself and is being a little more realistic, although still aiming high.
With destination charging you will have no problems. Puts in about 70kms/hour if 11kW, or 45kms/ if 7kW. (Depends on your efficiency)
So just following up on my earlier post about the stuck driver side seat belt. I rang the dealer, they gave me an emergency phone number for Volkswagen ID Service. They sent an engineer out within 90 minutes to look at the problem. He fixed it fairly quickly using a bit of persuasion. Was pretty impressed with the experience.
Then he said he’d run some diagnostics just to see if there were any underlying problems but it turned out his diagnostic software didn’t support the ID range 🤦♂️
Fast forward to this morning driving on the M50 and the car starts going bananas. Got a series of warnings as each of the safety features was disabled. Then a message that the front sensor was faulty.
(Sorry about sideways pic. Can’t find any way to delete it 🤷♂️)
Then when I went to drive the car this evening the seat belt was locked again. Managed to free it myself this time but will be back on to them tomorrow to get to the bottom of things.
Probably a problem with the flux capacitor..
Shouldn’t have driven her over 88.
That's pretty bad all things considered. I wonder what's wrong with your car.
Hopefully just a dodgy sensor.
What software do you have?
2.1
Ok, my screen looked something similar when the first part of 2.3 was pending. After it had been downloaded, before I installed it. All camera related stuff was inoperative.
May have nothing to do with it though. Try shutting down car for a while and see if warnings still there after restarting.
How do you get Android auto to connect every time? Sometimes it does but most of the time it doesn't. And I can't find it on the menu
I got text from my dealer to book service appointment. I believe id3 should be serviced every 2 years? Anyone is doing service after a year?
Mine connects automatically every time. Have u got Bluetooth on on your phone?
yeah, it connects sometimes maybe 25% of the time
I could be wrong but I'm fairly sure android auto connects by WiFi
Every 2 years, tell the dealer to dream on. The warranty even says the car just needs to be serviced when it says so
In the vehicle menu there's an option for Service which tells you the number of days remaining until the car needs a service
It’s probably just a text message service to list all the cars serviced the same week 12 months ago and blast a text to the list, irrespective of what car it is
Yea, every 2 years. I replied to the message for the craic, probably wasting my time as probably just automated.
Good to see you back raisin, it's been fairly quiet here lately..🤗
Hi,
So I have agreed a sale for Janurary to collect my id.3, but my current car needed servicing and I think I am going to be told that the tyre thread depth is getting low (still legal but less), am I stupid to pay for new tyres for the next 5 months of winter (regular 200km trips) on motorways.
The only thing keeping your car in contact with the road is your tyres. Poor grip on the road and you crash as a result and at best the car is damaged and at worse you're hurt/killed.
Your choice but for the sake of a few hundred I know what I'd do.
Motorway driving is the situation where you most need the maximum possible tread depth, to allow standing water escape from under the tyres and prevent your car from aquaplaning. Winter driving is when the road surface and your car tyres are both lower in temperature, thus reducing the skid resistance of the tyre.
Winter driving on motorways - definitely get new tyres.
Thanks @pdpmur @TitianGerm was 80% I would anyways, but apart from astehtics I know zero about cars and know too much about 'please refill toner' means on a printer :)
Confirmed by the dealer today, he's going to get my chipped paint addressed.
Juat a pain in the arse that I now need to leave the car back for 2 days, he's 40+ miles away!
Great, didn't expect any less. At least you might get a nice focus diesel for for a few days..😉
That's a pain alright but at least theyll fix it.
