Myself and my girlfriend are 29 years of age with some underlying health issues, however they are not major. We're first time buyers and have to get mortgage protection/life insurance.
- How hard is it to get an exemption from mortgage protection? I have read that if you can prove you tried to get insured by 3 companies and all were rejected, you can get a waiver for this? Does anyone know if this is true, or the details of it?
- What's to stop me lying on the health checks? We could tick "No" for all the health questions, so they won't need to verify anything with doctor, and get accepted and get the mortgage. A few months down the line when we are in our house and have more time we can try to get legitimate cover somewhere else and then cancel the original policy. If still not granted, we don't care, because it's better than renting even if one of us dies. Yes the policy won't pay out, but there is no legal implications behind our actions is there?
Any info, even if not much, is helpful.
Thanks everyone in advance,
Paul
