I have often seen the floodlights on mid week and the Connacht telegraph said mayo needed to find somewhere new to train.
Training in toreen I believe.
Perhaps, but when I saw the article in the Indo on the saturday, and then the Sunday Times about his feckin' house on the sunday, i just thought "typical".
Winning the All Ireland with Keith Higgins, David Clarke or Tom Parsons as captain would be very different to winning it with Aidan.
Ah TBF that was a harmless fluff piece.
TBF I'd love to have seen those ex players win a celtic cross medal full stop.
Not Bekan?
Why would it be any different?
No this is true. Tooreen GAA pitch would you believe is the only ground in the county (as far as I know) of maximum width. Built for hurling
Some spin for the Belmullet and North Mayo guys.
Nothing compared to the round trip from Dublin.
The mother's homestead. Not much to see or do in Tooreen but they do love hurling.
They do use the main pitch and they would certainly have been using it in the run up to an All Ireland.
Are there many hurling clubs in Mayo? Does Mayo field a county team in any competitions?
I didn't think hurling was played in Connacht outside Galway.

To be honest, when i see those types of pieces from any player i throw my eyes to the sky as that doesn't interest me at all. But I read this one and to be fair, that is all part of Aiden's brand, no doubt he probably makes as much money with all his endorsements that he gets on the back of the strength of his brand as he does from his day job. At the end of the day his brand is what will keep him going on the endorsements long after he has stopped playing for Mayo!
I'd say the moment he stops playing for mayo the car goes back and endorsements, which I doubt are making him a fortune, dry up. I'd say he's happy enough to work away at his day job and stay keep the head down
Don't buy it for a minute that Aidan is minting it from the off field activities.
If he is good luck to him as it won't last for ever.
I'd certainly have a preference for a pooling all such monies for the whole panel.
Perhaps I'm naive but I certainly agree with your sentiments.
I'd say that Irish Times Leaving Cert diary thing set him up for life!😝
Ah I'm not saying he is minting it, but the car alone is worth alot of money. I don't think it would be fair for those earnings to be pooled as the endorsements are given based on popularity outside of football as much as the football itself. If Aiden only had 500 Instagram followers he wouldn't be getting as much endorsements! Either way good luck to him! According to this he is a multimillionaire 🤣
Speaking of money, these draws for All Ireland tickets are going to leave me completely broke!
Does he pay tax on the car and other "endorsements"?
No, intercounty GAA players are exempt from all types of Income Tax. It falls under an art form, so technically the earnings are as a result of their artwork so just like a painter doesn't pay tax on selling paintings they don't pay tax on endorsements or free cars!!😋
This is a new level of concern around what a player does in their own time, or how they conduct their affairs.
I'm sure he does pay all or any taxes he would be due to pay, but I'd ask why you care so much, as a matter of interest?.
Should we hazard a guess as to which county you hail from?.
After the issues around the hurling final any hope of an attendance increase for the football final is out the window.
Of course he does (I can't believe I'm replying to this nonsense).
Think he had the same accountancy firm as Dean rocks Inc to address all taxation issues, could be kpmg and Bernard brogan :)
Not looking forward to the scramble for tickets :(
Club allocations are less than for the semi final .
All applications from clubs have to be into county board by THIS Saturday night and tickets will be issued Weds 1st September
So at least we will all know how we stand nice and early
Its taken us back 15 years now with the same BS of who gets tickets. I HATE it with a passion. Clubs with secret email lists to certain members and those who couldn't name half of the team.
I'm looking like unless i get them out of the county I won't get a ticket. The sooner the STs are back the better.
Good Mayo News podcast. I agree with the over reaction to Kevin McStays criticism. At the time I didn't see the challenge on Eoghan as a red, and I had a similar view to McStay. Good point on the work that O'Donoghue did. Its gone now but the lack of credit from the various media to Mayo is poor. There is plenty of meat for Mayo to use as the whole hour on Newstalk sport on Sat was on about Dublin and zero acknowledgement to our lads. I might be blinkered but Dublin didn't give up and lose it of their own will like too many of the media are protraying.
Interesting to see how Tyrone go at Kerry. Kerry shipped (and scored) a lot of goals in the league and championship. I think Tyrone will drive down the middle into Kerry. But if Kerry turn it on up front then can see them win by 8 points.
Tyrone will love coming in under the radar which will suit them perfectly. Don't know if they will have the fitness though to catch out Kerry though.
Good piece in the mayo news regarding season tickets and how cork could issue final tickets to their season ticket holders.
Basically every club in cork needed to sacrifice 3 tickets to meet all their needs. In mayo each club would need to sacrifice 75.
Yes but how many of those 75 would be coming back to season tickets holders who were club members anyway.
The problem lies in the distribution from HQ
Under the circumstances competing counties should have gotten a much bigger share
our club draw was this evening. Didn’t get one :(
