We have some sad news to tell you today. Our colleague Mark died very suddenly over the weekend. We are in shock at this news and are all devastated. Our thoughts and prayers are with his partner Una, his family, friends and loved ones at this time.
Mark joined us as a Community Support Executive in 2016 and quickly became my co-Community Manager. As a work colleague he was friendly, kind, attentive to details, a great listener and always, always reliable. He was enthusiastic about any new challenge and took them on with both hands. In recent times he had learned about CSS and was able to put that to good use tweaking the look of the site over the past few weeks and he was very proud of that work and the appreciation that it got from you guys. It was an area that he had discovered a passion for and had recently made plans to leave Boards and start a new career in that area.
Mark was a Boardsie long before he became a member of the staff here, joining in 2005. Some of you may have known him better as Sabre0001. He was a Limerick man, a big rugby fan and a dedicated Munster follower attending almost all of their games when he could. He naturally also spent a lot of time in the Rugby forum on various threads but of course, mainly on the Munster Team Talk threads. You may also have known him from his posts in Motorsports on F1, another of his passions. He spent a lot of time in some of the gaming forums in past years but less so recently. He even founded a site called eSports.ie years ago covering day-to-day news on competitive gaming as well as in-depth features written by himself. Mark was also an avid amateur baker which made him very popular in the office, we loved to test his baking when he was kind enough to bring some in.
Mark will be deeply missed at Boards.ie by all of us who work and have worked with him.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam
RIP Mark.
