I paid 24k for my '15 R 2 years ago!
Id be tempted to sell at the prices they are going for but I'd only end up spending over the odds for something else anyway as prices are insane of late
That's how much basic spec 3 year old ones were when I was looking early last year. Mental.
Between the second hand ones being big money and the GTI and R going up to €50k and €60k and now throw on 4.9%...
If I was in the position to buy now I think I'd just wait. The Cupra Born is more tempting by the day.
It was registered April 2015!
Unfortunately circumstances are leaning me to selling the best car i have ever owned... I'll be back someday thanks lads.

Not sure whats going on with the Parana... it left Emden alright but its been anchored in the English Channel for a couple of days since! Seems to me its just "parked up" and possibly hasn't any cargo onboard at all. My car isn't on it anyway, latest info I have is that the car is still at "exit production plant", the next step is "Arrive at port of shipment" and it hasn't got to that step yet.
Dealer reckons holidays (this week and next) are probably a factor but who knows.
Ya it's getting to the stage now where I'm seriously thinking about 2022 reg.
I can't imagine having the car before middle of September and any later than that, it's a no go for a 2021 for me.
Ah September is still plenty early enough. No chance I'm leaving it on a dealer forecourt for 3.5 months...
R ordered! Confirmed at 0% interest by the dealer - order went in July 30.
Production week 1/22.
Lapiz
Performance pack (19" Estoril Alloy Wheels in Black)
ACC
Winter pack
Black pack
Reversing camera
Can't wait!
Nice!
Is it sold already? Ad not available....
I'm a very impatient man 🤣
Meeting a guy tomorrow to show him the ST. Managed to get a contact through a motor dealer buddy of a guy who's looking for an ST and doesn't like the look of the new Mk8 generation.
There it is. The 80k Golf
just over 6 months since ordering! Haven’t had much of a drive yet.. couple of quick pics before the rain arrived this morning.
You weren't in Cork today were ya?
I've also sold the ST, going to it's new owner next week.
Nope wasn’t me!!
Utter madness!!
One thing I found out, repeated spamming F5 on Marine Traffic is not good for the health. 😂
I’ve a feeling we’ve hit bad timing. Holiday time for the factories and possibly as a result, the shipping has slowed for a couple of weeks too. The Parana appears to be anchored in the one spot for over a week.
Holy fook! Pretty much every optional extra has been included. It'd be an amazing car... but it's bat-sh1t crazy money
Ya it's a bit of a disaster timing wise, can't do much about it though but wait.
Jesus Christ, the price of these things have gone crazy since I sold mine 2 years ago. The guy I sold it to could probably make a profit on that car now.
Ya that's the way anything interesting is going in this country.
If you sold in the last 24-36 months likely whoever bought it will at most, lose nothing and inn ome cases be up money.
It's all well and good breaking even on your interesting car, but unless you're planning on moving to something that's NOT interesting, then you're still going to be paying a premium on whatever you'll be buying.
True that's the privilege we have of living in Ireland with VRT and VAT.
It's a well documented joke really.
Curious how such a desirable car at a young age would end up outside the VW dealer network being sold through a car supermarket type dealership:
https://www.carsireland.ie/2907528
That's nearly as close to me as the VW dealership in getting my CS from.
Ill have to pop down for a look.
But ya, it's a strange one, the VW warranty would still carry over but maybe the selling point of it is you can have it now instead of waiting X amount of months for a new build.
I'm happier now with my own choice, I'm not a fan of the Estorils in black from the pics/videos I've seen, might be nicer in person and on the right colour combo.
Just seen the interior pics and the odometer is in Miles so I'm assuming it's an import from the UK
I didn't think it was worth importing from the UK anymore due to Brexit but I guess they think that because of the long lead time on factory orders they will still sell it at a healthy profit to someone not willing to wait. I was never a fan of black wheels and my mind hasn't changed here either.
this arrived in the local dealers. Looks great in the metal but not too keen on the wheels. Sorry about the sideways pics. This new boards is cat.
clocks can be changed from miles to kms in the settings, so its not the same indicator of a UK import that it used to be.
