....
I get the impression much of this is on Biden. He was very defensive and evasive in his address, suggesting he had made the decisions and perhaps overruled intelligence and national security. It very much looked like a guilty party trying to justify his way out of a mess.
The people who are crying about the US not doing something about the Taliban are the same people wringing their hands and clutching their pearls because Obama used drone strikes to take out terrorists in the middle east.
Biden is right. If the Afghan government and the Afghan army are going to run away from the Taliban, who by the way are not at all well resourced militarily, then why should a US family bury a son or daughter for that cause.
The Taliban regained their strength in the last 4 years. Not in the last 8 months.
There is only one side making this out to be Trump v Biden.
And it's not those who would prefer Biden who, from what I can see, have been clearly unanimous in what a sh*tshow this is.
There's uk troops going there to help UK citizens apparently there's lots of British people still there the airport is in a state of chaos with people trying to get out the taliban are going round looking for people who were pro American god help people like female journalists and TV presenters who were pro human rights and equality its all well covered on gautrdian.co.uk or drudge.com
I think people in kabul were naive as they thought it would take at least a month for the taliban to take control there's even one brit who went on holiday to kabul and is still there
I hope the embassy's are destroying all pcs hardrives dara storage as this info could be used to find people who worked with the US military eg translators journalists etc
Apparently not no ,
just Ask the 300,000 Afghan soldiers about liking a fight.
The enigma of the long war in Afghanistan could be resolved by just looking at the strong ties of the Pashtun as a major ethnic group on power, with Tribalism in a multiethnic Afghanistan that is going forward.
You can also see the serious threats and challenges Tribalism could create against the coexistence of other ethnicities; that could cause even an ethnic clash, as well as it is against the progress and development of the whole country.
It’s going to get much worse than it already is.
I wonder will Afghanistan be in the news in a month's time or will it be totally forgotten by Western media?
...
They love a fight alright
As the sobriquet goes, the graveyard of empires.
I hesitate to answer a q posed by someone with that user name, but see above.
Usually used in relation to the U.S., but rogue states such as the U.K., Russia, France, China and others have massive arms industries and militaristic tendencies too. :D
A clear decline of modern intellect is visible from the folk who are pitting it as Trump v Biden.
It's not.
This was always going to be the end result unfortunately.
20 years, what an embarrassment.
Afghanistan has war in their blood for centuries. Afghans are Pashtuns or Pathans, warrior tribesman and it is in their genetics. Every Aghan and Pashtun I know over in the UK is solid as a rock, has a killer streak and knows their heritage very well. Very tough people and the west doesnt know the resilience and vengance a Pashtun has.
Look through out history.
That's about the soviet occupation and American covert efforts to help the Afghans
Trump signed the deal with the Taliban to withdraw ffs😅
He literally handed Afghanistan back to the Taliban.
Long being saying the EU needs to distance itself from the US and stand on its own two feet, and take a firm line when the US are stirring in countries.
They are not the reliable allies they once were. It's the EU that feels the brunt of the fallout of their botched wars as we have seen with the migration crisis on the Eastern and Southern fronts. This affects us all and jeopardises the hard fought modern peace and safety we have on the European continent.
We going to end taking in a fcuk load of Afghanis lads (serious)
This exactly.
Biden was damned if he did and damned if he didn't ,
They beat the Taliban who were only in power for a few years in the first place ,and built a modern army of 300,000 who vanished ,in less than week , nobody would ever predicted this would have happened this quickly ,
We knew it was possible the Taliban would take some ground but not 99% of the country in a few days
The world is not burning, only from climate change.
He did the right decision leaving.
Should have been a decade ago.
I want, what they want! And every other guy who came over here, and spilt his guts, once, for our country to love us, as much as we love it!
The point is valid, no matter where it comes from.
Charlie Kirk.
Genuine lol.
Absolutely humilating day for the US military and their lapdog the brits....
If this was Trump...the likes of CNN and colbert would be calling him a traitor etc....
Biden looks clueless....
The USA has been utterly embarrassed globally....worse than anything Trump did...
military industrial complex.
And if he did that, the poster you're replying to would be calling him a "warmonger".
What's the other option ,
The only other option right now is NATO and the US find some way of getting hundreds of thousands of troops into the country to push the Taliban out and start all over again...
What other options is there
While the world burns!!!
FFS this will be forgotten next week😅😅
Remember Syria??
Noone cares or talks about it anymore.
Captain bleedin Kirk could put it better than you ever could. You don't have a bull's notion.
