… Ah yes SF
Joe Soap cares about America looking like bitches, yet again
Joe Soap cares about the GIs that died in Afghanistan for a sum total of SFA
Joe Biden should resign over this imo.
@jmreire have a look at Montenegros new highway which is costing them 40millon per mile being built by a Chinese company with a 1billion loan from China ,if they don't pay the bill on time or can't pay they sign the roads over to Chinese companies for 99 years ,they currently control ports and other infrastructure in multiple countries using the same tactic
our part of the world (Europe) depends on the US for protection from Putin’s Russia so no, pursuing said plan would not be in our interests.
Resign over what??
Trump made this deal with the Taliban.
Biden is just following through.
I think Truman coined the phrase.
If anyone thinks that this hasn't been an unmitigated disaster is just fooling themselves, and it's entirely down to the cack handed US withdrawal, not the Afghans or anyone else. And "if not now, when" is simply not a good enough reason to throw tens of thousands, if not more, civilian allies to the slaughter. Biden has to own this. It's absolutely disgraceful.
That said, the withdrawal had bi-partisan support, so the US political system in its entirety is not blameless either.
Some say, is this Saigon?
No, it's obviously not Saigon.
It's worse than Saigon.
I tend to agree. The alternatives to U.S. power are no better and indeed likely worse. Russia and China have their own MICs going on, I'm well aware. Militarism is the problem, not the soldiers and not the specific nation that's disrupting the global peace at any given moment.
Best sow seeds of discord in Russia instead :D
Who'd have thought the live to see the day where humans look like barnacles on the side of a plane trying to escape from an impending broken promise.
What an f-up.
if he was president of Afghanistan or general of the Afghanistan army I would agree. It’s not up to the US to run Afghanistan for their people. They got 20 years of investment, hardware and training and they lost a massive country in a month to a battle hardened militia who have the same weapon sophistication as the provos had. It should be virtually impossible to lose land that quickly to an army with no air support and no real heavy artillery unless they weren’t actually trying.
The same goes for Trumpy if he was in charge still. It’s not on him ultimately.
Stop with the bollocks talk. You don't have the first clue what you are trying to talk about here.
I assume they thought pulling out slowly would tip off groups like the Taliban but it seems they were fully aware and ready.
Absolute disaster from US intelligence, Pentagon and Biden.
There was no easy way out and many critics pointed out 20 years ago that this was always a disaster waiting to happen. But there were surely better days than this
How so?
Yet sagion didn't have a modem trained ,and well equipped military numbering 300,000 strong supposedly be protecting it ,
An army of 300,000 just vanished without as much as single firefight ,
Charlie Kirk has put it better than I ever could.
What is a MIC?
Captain bleedin Kirk could put it better than you ever could. You don't have a bull's notion.
While the world burns!!!
FFS this will be forgotten next week😅😅
Remember Syria??
Noone cares or talks about it anymore.
What's the other option ,
The only other option right now is NATO and the US find some way of getting hundreds of thousands of troops into the country to push the Taliban out and start all over again...
What other options is there
And if he did that, the poster you're replying to would be calling him a "warmonger".
military industrial complex.
Absolutely humilating day for the US military and their lapdog the brits....
If this was Trump...the likes of CNN and colbert would be calling him a traitor etc....
Biden looks clueless....
The USA has been utterly embarrassed globally....worse than anything Trump did...
Charlie Kirk.
Genuine lol.
The point is valid, no matter where it comes from.
I want, what they want! And every other guy who came over here, and spilt his guts, once, for our country to love us, as much as we love it!
The world is not burning, only from climate change.
He did the right decision leaving.
Should have been a decade ago.
This exactly.
Biden was damned if he did and damned if he didn't ,
They beat the Taliban who were only in power for a few years in the first place ,and built a modern army of 300,000 who vanished ,in less than week , nobody would ever predicted this would have happened this quickly ,
We knew it was possible the Taliban would take some ground but not 99% of the country in a few days
We going to end taking in a fcuk load of Afghanis lads (serious)
Long being saying the EU needs to distance itself from the US and stand on its own two feet, and take a firm line when the US are stirring in countries.
They are not the reliable allies they once were. It's the EU that feels the brunt of the fallout of their botched wars as we have seen with the migration crisis on the Eastern and Southern fronts. This affects us all and jeopardises the hard fought modern peace and safety we have on the European continent.
