Well if he was going to address that in a serious way, he either had to say the Intelligence I was getting was way off the mark, or I got pretty accurate Intel but chose to ignore it. And POTUS can't really say either of those things...
So little about Afghanistan in this thread, Biden is 78, he won't be running again
can we do honesty?
trump negotiated a detsiled plan with tribal leaders on may 1 withdrawal
talipowder wud not dare break tribal law.
plans were made to take all machinety bak oslo.
when biden ectended it it was easy 4 taluman to say see not going told ye.
hence de mess
i am autistic btw nice cheap shots..
"The buck stops with me" is accepting final responsibility.
Only one man can sort this now
I don't think you listened to the speech. This withdrawal has been a disaster, he didn't take any responsibility for it, none whatsoever.
Do you have any concept of what "The buck stops with me" means?
Pentagon press conference is a shambles
It was contradictory.
He said that the buck stops with him, then went onto blame everyone and everything else for the situation as currently present.
It's not good enough to say something. The evidence must back that claim up.
Any potential ally in one of the shithole countries or those countries bordering Russia would be mad to work with the Americans/ nato. Biden has scored a massive own goal here which will be capitalised on. He may as well forget about another 4 years.
Absolutely, would have been a fine speech if it had occurred after a prolonged and efficient withdrawal. Less so after the last few days.
He said the buck STOPS with him.
He has, literally, accepted ultimate responsibility.
Doubt it ,she didn't accidentally fly to Afghanistan to teach children ,but if she made a speech about how good the Taliban are she might be in for a place on tubs couch
The problem is, by all accounts no matter how slow or fast or careful or not a withdrawal the Taliban were always going to take control I suspect.
The question then is how could the US have prevented the current events other than not withdrawing?
They (Trump administration/public) wanted US troops out, that's what they got.
Biden should have slowed his roll (out) to ensure public safety.
Are those 300k Soldiers make believe, I saw zero, not a single one. Where the fck did they go
Biden said that buck stops with him, but took no responsibility whatsoever for the demented withdrawal that has taken place over the past 72 hours.
That's not only contradictory, it's a total lack of leadership.
And his scapegoating of the Afghan military and political leadership, at a time when they are under severe threat, is disgraceful, ill-timed, and totally inappropriate.
That was my own thoughts. He makes a very good case for the US leaving Afghanistan - but practically airbrushes the utter disaster and shambles of the last few days out of the narrative (as if it had nothing to do with him or the Americans).
They knew their goose was cooked. Even the President eff'd off days ago. I'd say they fled or joined the Taliban.
Not far off. Plenty were bought already. And over there, you could have cousins in the military and cousins in the taliban.
What "manevers"?
i would hazard a guess that half the afgan army where taliban and they planned it for years
Trainers would have known intel ignored
Sorry to say but Afgans deserve their fate
just cause you wouldnt do it doesnt mean others wouldnt - some people have a higher calling then watching netflix all day or posting on boards..... they are in UN organisations or NGOs etc they are trying to do their bit as useless as it may seem.
Good analysis from Ian Bremmer:
"President Biden answering capably why he made the decision to leave Afghanistan. But taking zero responsibility for the failures of withdrawal—putting it all on the Afghan people. This isn’t leadership. Biden speaking as if the last three days in Afghanistan didn’t happen."
i cant edit posts here and i added the second part in another post.....
the manevers in here tonight for biden supporters. epic.
The buck stops with me but this is the Afghans fault.
🤣
Surprised by how weak Joe Biden was in that press conference.
The Democrat's are in trouble with the upcoming elections.
Talking about covid
Maybe so, but the Afghan military are not the audience.
