This is where they really will miss the experience of the likes of Cluxton. Comerford has generally done well but this pressure is a different level.
Mayo will never have a better chance of beating Dublin. Momentum looks to be with them. Meath ran out of steam with their comeback in semis , I’m not sure Dublin can pass their way through this game as Mayo still showing great intensity closing them down.
Come on, Byrne had least two chances to boot the ball up the pitch, nothing to do with cluxton
Garbage. Think Howard or McCarthy need to go full back to calm the crap at the back.
Do you think the short kick out was working in the closing minutes of the game?
Dublin are showing no intent, Mayo were flying and when Dublin got possession they just tried to keep it, with no willingness to go and kill the game as they used to do it. Dublin look rattled everywhere, Philly getting involved, McCarthy taking out O'Connor, Byrne taking out McLoughlin and then the messing at the back with Comeford.
Its surprising to see from a dynamo forward like Dessie Farrell to have his coaching imprint being this ball retention stuff. It firstly gives Dublin a "bad to watch" persona but also is completely unneeded give the array of attacking talents. I've never seen O'Callaghan have such a quiet game. Simply because Dublin are refusing to play any sort of ball in, that results in a contest. If the risk of losing the ball as a result of a kick/fist pass goes above 75% then you absolutely under no circumstances make the play seems to be Farrell's tactical impartment onto this team of once in a generation.
Yeh, it really felt like Dublin were just going through the motions in the Meath game and were able to win on auto pilot. Just doesn’t work against a team showing the intensity like Mayo. Dublin need to be more direct , they are just going through the motions, I’m not convinced that will be enough today
Philly McMahon is truly shameful. Hopefully he realizes his days are over.
Byrne won it, fair enough but punt it, it's a 50 50 ball at best
Sad way to end but it’s been coming.
What a collapse
Worst Dublin performance in a decade.
So so bad
He has the all-ireland's in his arse pocket and the last Dublin club championship. I doubt he cares that a poster on boards.ie thinks he is shameful. He is a winner.
Someone’s salty :)
The thing is I think Dessie does not want Dublin to play like this. He has said it in interviews. Reading between the lines the pace/talent is not there anymore to run at teams.
No I am just stating a fact that is how Philly McMahon would view it. You are just looking at it from the armchair sportsman viewpoint.
So - Dublin are just shite.
Where are all these - 1000s, millions of players half the country outside Dublin were talking about
Better to bow out I think here to mayo, kerry would probably hammer dublin. Dubs look tired, greatest team of all time but they need new ideas for 2022
Ewan McKenna has his two drafts ready no matter what the outcome 😉
Great don’t care what he thinks either. Horrible sportsman through and through.
Dublin are gone...this is appalling, what was Arron Byrne doing there?
I don't know where you got that from. A look a underage has clearly shown a dip as well.
A generation of top players have left and not been replaced with similar quality. It is now a Dublin team in transition. Dublin fans who watch league and championship know this.
It is up to other counties to strike while the iron is hot now. No excuses for them now.
Why? He puts his body on the line for his county. Back in the 00's Dublin were soft and easily got at. It is the like of Philly McMahon's in the Dublin squad which were the backbone to many an all-ireland. If he was your county team you would love him. If not you would hate him simple as. That type of player.
4 points in over an hour of football.
Dessie Farrell should resign
That's insightful.
I am just delighted that it was not Kerry that beat Dublin. That would have been very hard to take.
Well done Mayo. Beaten by the better team today. Hope they go on to beat that other shower in the final now.
Read the paper if you want insights
That's probably harsh but I'm not convinced by him at all. The training breach, the Cluxton thing but most of all the way the team is playing. This has been a really ignominious end to this period of Dublin dominance - the team unravelled out there today where was Con and Kilkenny in the second half, in fairness to Fenton he kept going. Mayo deserved the win and they probably deserved to end Dublin's reign as they have been their best opponents.
So will the rest of the country I think.
I can only see it going one way - Kerry are full of goals.
Exactly G, last year was a bonus and COVID has meant Dessie hasn't been able to work new players in or settle on a team or style of play.
I'm proud of everything they've given over the past few years, 45 unbeaten games is some achievement. Now watch as we see a raft of daft responses.
