I'd imagine hes been effectively under house arrest, completely confined to within his property. If he was out and about the likes of Nicola Tallant would have tracked him down years ago. All this disguise stuff doesn't wash either, if anything wandering around a hot country like Spain with arse length hair and a Santy beard makes you look more conspicuous, not less.

Pure speculation, but you'd wonder if there was any communication between himself and some of his people at home recently due to the Olympic celebrations and homecoming.

His old club was mentioned a few times in the media. It might have provoked some nostalgia or something - causing him to contact people

100% not making any any connections between KH and himself. Only that his old club was in the news.

ill take a stab in the dark but id be surprised if some sort of deal hasn't been struck, under the radar for yrs and then all of a sudden when he is actually a wanted man...he is caught where he has a gaff.....way to much of a coincidence.... id be very surprised if he hasn't been in contact with the law here trying to work out some sort of deal....

TV3 news earlier claimed Hutch was arrested while meeting a friend in a pub, but one of the red tops claims he was out having a walk.

Seriously don't know how he expected to remain free and unnoticed if he was going for pints in a feckin Ballymun in the Sun resort. I can only guess this was recent behavior, otherwise there would be sneaky shots of him taken by tourists going up on social media every other week for the last few years.

Rural Germany or the likes would probably be the safest IMO. No Irish to spot him, no organised crime scene to do the job.

Amsterdam/ Eindhoven, Spain, Romania, Turkey- all places he was rumoured to be, with either plenty of Irish tourists or, in the case of Romania, plenty of returning Romanian emigrants who would recognise him if they kept an eye on the news when they left here. All four countries would also have Kinahan linked gangs eager to do the job.

Come to think of it you would nearly wonder why the state didn't try persuade Patsy Hutch to leave for good. Realistically he would be untouchable somewhere like the Aran Islands. Or abroad, maybe Malta, Iceland or the Faroe Islands, small, remote island states with no real gangland culture, where the Kinahan's could neither sneak in a hitman nor hire a local one.

Inner city Dub relocating to the above places is a bit fish out of water but it's surely better than living under near house arrest/ death row for 5 years.

A likeable rouge with a cheeky side. I think his anti-drugs views expressed some years ago warmed people slightly.

What kind of deal could he cut? He's at the top of his own group so there's no boss to rat out. Of the five gunmen, one is dead, one can't be re tried, one is allegedly a nephew and one is a devotedly loyal family friend/ best pal of Gary Hutch (I can't recall who the fifth gunman is alleged to be, the father of a certain LOI footballer I've heard rumoured but I'm not sure). Plus the drivers, spotters, go betweens who rented the guns off the dissidents etc, some of these are rumoured to be family members (some of them since murdered)

If Gerry Hutch were to rat out family members and a man who almost died for the cause, all for an attack he allegedly planned in a kill or be killed scenario, it would go against everything we have been told the man believes in.

I heard from a good source the Monk wasn't caught he gave himself up. He probably knows they have fcuk all on him. Think about it where he was caught with his passport etc Trust me the Monk is one very clever individual.

If somebody photographed with a pistol in hand exiting the event couldnt be convicted there is zero chance one possibly vague recorded conversation aint sticking, he will have the best legal help in the country and will walk free handy.
