Hope that family aren't moving house near me ..
What is this "festival classic" nonsense?
Anthems from festivals? An improvement over the usual daytime auto-playlist fare, at any rate!
Did I hear that right earlier? Dan Healy-Rae from Kerry won the 5k 😂
You did indeed, I thought it was funny when Dec Pierce asked him where he was from. 😄
You could tell Dec knew the answer to that before he even asked 😃
Somebody has friends in high places. Jessica Maciel is heading over to BBC Radio 1 next Saturday to fill in for Charlie Hedges on Dance Anthems from 4 to 7pm
Returning, interesting
Quick Google reveals she covered Scott Mills show over Christmas 2019.
Cathal Funge is in for the week for Ed, really enjoying his stint - https://www.todayfm.com/shows/ed-smith-1208856
Also enjoying Ed's show. It's not ESOP, but well worth a listen.
I like Cathal Funge. He always brings his alternative leanings, courtesy of Phantom/TXFM, with him. It's good to see that he is still getting some gigs with Today FM. I might try and give him a listen if I get a chance.
Was driving through dark rural Donegal last night, and he played Babies by Pulp after the 11 o clock news....excellent
Did he lose the phone show gig on 98 or FM104? I only ever used to hear it when in a taxi or, I think, getting drunk chips in Supermacs - awful shite altogether!
He left FM104 for 98FM and 98FM about 2/3 months ago axed the phone show in favour for an all music schedule.
He did Lunchtime Live on Newstalk last week
I heard Cathal Funge last night. It was a good mix of music. He played both old and new music - quite a bit of alternative stuff but also the likes of Tina Turner's cover of Whole Lotta Love as well as Soft Cell's Say Hello, Wave Goodbye.
She has got the strangest accent Ive ever heard. Where exactly is she from?
I'd say it's her radio accent.
Similar to Fergal D'Arcy's fake radio voice.
Malahide. Married to a Brazilian tattoo artist (his surname) so that might be skewing the pronunciation a bit.
Credit to Pamela Joyce doing well covering for d&d this week. Shows that her and Ed were both shafted by that slot change as she is obviously more suited to day time radio.
This!
Her evening show is... well, it's the same as her daytime show, pretty much (ok, she was playing clips of D&D and doing the "B is B" thing) and it was... grand, like. I'm a big fan of D&D in the morning slot and missed them - I find them genuinely funny. But her show was... fine. However, the same stuff from 7 to 10 in the evening? Jebus, no! I just wanna relax a bit then, here some decent tunes, a change in music from what's been played all day, with Ed's understated links. Replacing that with Pamela Joyce, the same music I've been listening to all day and "Here's this interesting topic I'll talk about in between the next five songs!" - nah! Her evening show just grates on me now.
seems to be on today fm a lot (just like the pamelas and the paulas - -how many are there?)
does she need to be on bbc r1?
I started listening to John Creedon on radio 1 last night in the car just by chance. Never listened to him before, he's very good. Definitely an option for the 8-10 slot.
just like the pamelas and the paulas - -how many are there?
One of each?
My 8-10 listening slot is now, yes, John Creedon, possibly Radio Nova (except Nova is... "safe"? You'd never hear a song on Nova that you wouldn't expect to hear on Nova, if that makes sense?), or, on Thursday nights at least, Blindboy Boatclub livestreaming on Twitch.
I've gone to 8radio for now.
I'm a recent convert over to Dermot & Dave in the mornings now after the 10-12 slot on Radio 1 became prime hairdresser radio. While I enjoy the lads they really have a limited music selection, lot of frequent repeats generally early 2000's (guess thats the demograph that listens) but they have Destiny's Child and Beyonce on repeat it seems; whats the addiction?
That's the stations daytime playlist in a nutshell tbh.
I hear Anton Savage on with Matt for a segment this past few weeks, wonder is this him starting a comeback? Loved his show when he took over from Ray.
I heard Anton this evening on The Last Word. I was wondering the same thing.
