You do know this is a horse she has never met or ridden. If a horse decides to not do it they won't as shown by lady who was on gold
That was a hard watch to see her gold whipped from her like that but you’d have to think she broke down and gave up too soon. She was in tears straight from the off. The horse can surely sense that as well.
Ah but in sailing it's up to you to figure out where the best wind is and place yourself there, on the start line and on the race course.

Aside from the disappointment of the athlete which is massive it cant be fair on a horse who doesn't want to jump fences to make them try and try again to do it, and then put a different person on top and try again and again.

It doesn’t matter what format they used, you can’t make a horse run or jump if they don’t want to, it would just double the carnage
Show jumpers are toast as well in the team event, first rider in Sweetman has been eliminated.
That is that sport though. Nothing to appeal. Lining up for last event shortly anyway.
Im pretty sure only a few days ago everyone was screaming at me about how I'm wrong for not understanding that the horses love the Olympics and if they didn't they would all kick off which rarely happens.

I would half agree with you, in that putting strange riders on horses and asking them to jump is unnecessarily stressful on the horses - that was awful to watch. There has to be a better way, for the horses and the athletes.
But the main point from the other day still stands - as amply evidenced by today's carnage - if a horse doesn't want to jump, you won't make him.
The horses in the main showjumping are bred and trained for it, and well used to and comfortable with their riders. And if they still dont fancy a jump, they wont jump.

I suppose you’d be hoping at least 1 of the 2 horse would be a cooperative horse.
The essence of sport is that on any given day any competitor can win.

They had an appeal in didn't they so not sure what happened with that? Wouldn't surprise me if she wasn't there, was not in a very good place after the riding.
