The AH Tokyo 2020 Olympics/Paralympics Thread in 2021

I think it’s time we got a thread started.

Ireland are sending more athletes to this summer olympics than ever before. Who have you got your eye on? I live not too far from a village called Grange in Co. Sligo. The population of the village as per 2016 census was 586 people and the village has 2 athletes going to the games - Mona McSharry (swimming) and Christopher O’Donnell (mixed 4x400 relay). Not too bad for a little village.

So, who do you have your eye on, what new events are there and will the opening ceremony be anything like what we’re used to?

Didn't one of the Yeats's win a medal for painting, or poetry or something? Years ago I know, but I think W.B was into all kinds of quare beliefs and he often gave out about Catholics fumbling in the greasy till etc. Other than that, not sure how many atheists have been on the top step

surely ireland could make inroads into that sport, afterall there's plenty of fat b@stards in this country that could fit the criteria ...i mean its not like its very technical or expensive sport either 😶

Not too sure how much it was shown but skateboarding and climbing qualifiers were on today with both putting on a great show. In addition to some of the highlight races from the athletics. Just because someone likes the synchronised swimming doesn't mean it would be the highlight of everyone's day. It is obviously difficult to do but never understood the synchronised swimming myself.

Watching the synchronised swimming and it is unreal. How they can be upside down vertically in the water for so long is beyond me.

His only problem is that he was too slow yesterday and today. Jumped perfect clear rounds but was taking ages to get around, hence the time penalty today. Still unlucky though.
